For the mod I used on my PAL model 2 Saturn (which is dead now) to make it run 60 Hz instead of 50 hz I just connected JP1 I think with one wire. What site has the best info on 60 Hz mods for PAL Saturns. All I can find is territorial mods.......
So, my mod was without a switch. Simple everything 60 Hz, even Panzer Dragoon 2, one of those PAL optimised games.
Now I want to buy another Saturn, should I really stick with model 2 or just buy any PAL model?
I have a cheat device for playing imports anyway.
Also is there a simple mod for making a Dreamcast run 60 Hz. I allready know about a mod board, but I'm looking for a few wires here kinda mod.
Also, is there a rgb mod to centre the picture as the picture is allways 20 lines to the left in Europe when running 60 Hz. Not all games have the option to centre the image.
60 hz mod Saturn/Dreamcast
Well, it's done.
I practiced about fifty eleven billion times on my other saturn.
nerve racking.
I used one of those stanley knife blades and just twitched one of those chip legs to the left. Nerve racking, like disarming a bomb that going off in 1.05 minutes, moe or less
I think writing a faq would very entertaining.
conclusion: preferably buy a model 2 saturn if you want 60 hz capability.
It can be done on a model 1, but consult me first. Those instructional sites make it sound too easy.

I always use the pin 79 mod - purely because you don't have to worry about whether or not it'll work on a particular motherboard revision, it works on all Saturn boards.
There's no Dreamcast 60Hz mod though. Your only option is to either burn a copy which is patched for 60Hz, or use one of the boot discs to force 60Hz (the Blaze DC-X disc can do it, and I think maybe the gameshark can do it). Or use a VGA box - if a game is VGA-compatible, then it will output at 60Hz through the VGA box as normal.
