@Fudoh, I tested it on emus and real hardware, even using the stereo out of a Genesis 1 via headphones and Nomad, as well and RGB cables... so yes, I am sure.

Ah well I was lucky enough that mine was right the first time :) How are you liking the sound quality?

quite nice. Audio is going from the XRGB line out directly to my Denon amp. What I noticed though is that many of the classics' soundtracks are coded only in mono anyway.

Hey Artemio could you add this to the testpatterns:
Image

It should help indicate colorbleeding, which is currently a problem with the DVDO EDGE's RGBHV input

:)

EDIT: Perhaps this is better?:

Dreamcast has a sharper 240p image than my MegaDrive so I would prefer the DC version.

Thanks :)

Aww shucks! I wanted to test my Megadrive setup with that color-bleeding test... Artemio, I'd really appreciate it if you also implement Konsolkogen's pattern in the MD version. It seems the machine that needs the most "inspection" with the Holo II setup. Right after the Saturn.

No worries =)

Will release both in around 8 hours when I get back home from work, I'll post here when they are ready for download.

The second pattern I did gives me a headache looking at it too long. The first one is the best IMO, and the one I would like you to use, if it's not too late :)

Great idea, I'll test this on my setup too when it gets added.

Sorry it took me so long, been finishing stuff at work in order to be able to go to E3 next week and had less time than I thought, besides I prefer to test everything on real hardware before releasing. But here are the binary releases for Genesis, Sega CD (version 1.08) and Dreamcast (ver 1.10). I based my design in your first pattern, and drew it with tiles as always (for economy purposes).

http://code.google.com/p/240p-test-suite/downloads/list

You can press A to change the pattern between the vertical stripes and checkerboard.

Please let me know if you have any more suggestions or ideas, hope this helps. I will be getting my own DVDO EDGE this next week during the trip to LA, so I will be very interested in your results.

Since I am in a hurry because of the trip tomorrow, I didn't add you to the credits or acknowledgments *yet*, but rest assured I will . I am truly sorry and I hope you don't mind the delay with that, but I had already submitted it when I noticed I didn't update the readme or credits. It still needs some text for the help in that area and some others, so an update will be done in the near future.

Kewl! I just fired up the MegaDrive version because it's much easier. It actually performs very well, so until you add my name to the credits list I'll wait with the DC one :p

The checkerboard is a very good idea.

After I colorboost-modified my MegaDrive 1 to get rid of the jailbars, the picture is a little bit softer than normal. But using this pattern it doesn't look any different than it did when I drew up the test on my Saturn:
http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e236/ ... 011939.jpg

- This is with LPF ON. Switching that to OFF moves the blurry area to the right side of the screen for some reason...

Great to hear it's been of use. I added you to the credits on the source code, and tested a bit of some other small features I have wanted to change for a while.. but couldn't finish and test on real hardware on time... The next update will have to wait until after E3 (one week or so). Please post here any further ideas so we can make it better.

Hopefully I'll have some time to finally do the Saturn version later on.

Have you tried booting the Dreamcast version using a SD adapter?

No, I haven't... might be interesting. I develop using the DC ethernet adapter, but do burn it to cd for testing before uploading. Better to have one coaster than.. errr 3 =P

Hmm, how do you boot homebrew from your BBA? I have one of those as well but only used it for Phantasy Star Online :)

I use dctool ip, you load the disc with it and use the counter part on the pc to send the executable. You need to either setup the ip when compiling dc tool or simply tell you pc which ip address corresponds to the DC MAC address (a simple arp command! there is a windows executable that does it I believe, but I use Linux for that process (my whole DC toolchain is under linux, though I've compiled it under windows with one of those ready-to-use sdks just to test)

Well, sorry about that long delay.. it was a lopng week at E3, and another working at the office to make up for the E3 time. I finally updated all versions with correct credits, and added a small help text for the color bleed pattern on all.

http://code.google.com/p/240p-test-suite/downloads/list

I also finally got an EDGE myself, though I still haven't built the VGA to RGBHV cable, hopefully this week I'll find the time. Please let me know of any other changes that may help out.

EDIT: Since I was checking input lag with the EDGE and without it in the chain, I improved the Lag test a bit. You can now toggle all options, and there is a new (default) option for changing between rhythmic and slightly random movement of the sprite during the test. Darned GH5 and Rockband give way too different results...

Dreamcast: with L trigger

Press the "A" button when the sprite is aligned. A negative value means you pressed "A" before they intersect. "B" button toggles horz/vert
I don't see it, and pressing Down doesn't change anything :)

I'd appreciate a PS2 version of this tool.

I can't use any of the others. I'd burn a Dreamcast disc but I can't install Disc Juggler. The installer is broken. It keeps telling me I need to reboot my system.

Hello Mikey,

A PS2 version is not in my short term plans, I have no way of running home brew in my PS2, neither the tools to code it.

Regarding discjuggler I've never had an issue with it, it is teh standard dreamcast distribution format. You can try and convert it to nrg with UltraISO. Best Regards.
