Modified CGA to VGA Scaler to accept clean sync RGB SCART
Re: Modified CGA to VGA Scaler to accept clean sync RGB SCART
Don't do that yet....
Take clear pictures of your PCB, SCART wiring and connection to the header loom.

OK I will vid to youtube in a bit
Re: Modified CGA to VGA Scaler to accept clean sync RGB SCART
I'd prefer images than a video.
Re: Modified CGA to VGA Scaler to accept clean sync RGB SCART
It looks OK from what I can see.
What console are you trying it with and what input setting are you choosing on the scaler?
Can you crack open the console scart lead so I can see how that is wired up?

Thank goodness it looks ok!
I am trying to hook up my Sega Saturn (Jap), SNES (USA version)
Ok I will post pic ohf the scar head

Re: Modified CGA to VGA Scaler to accept clean sync RGB SCART
No, that's the output.
On the scaler you need to tell it what type of input youre using. IE RGBs, RGBHV etc.

My saturn scart goes like this mate
Saturn Pin | My Soldering Pin
Brown | Pin 2 on IC
Black | Nothing
Black with resister | Nothing
Nothing | Nothing
Nothing | Nothing
Nothing | Nothing

Yellow | Nothing
Nothing | Nothing
Orange | To the phonos

Re: Modified CGA to VGA Scaler to accept clean sync RGB SCART
Wire the GROUND of the header (black) to SCART pin 17
When I have opened up all my scart leads pin 17 is RED (from RGB)
GROUND looks to be pin 18 on the scart - is that right?

Re: Modified CGA to VGA Scaler to accept clean sync RGB SCART
I need a picture of your Saturn SCART wiring.... that explanation above don't mean shit to me.
Re: Modified CGA to VGA Scaler to accept clean sync RGB SCART
A picture speaks a thousand words and also highlights a crap SCART cable!
You have no audio ground or composite video ground on that SCART cable.
Bridge (on your SATURN SCART cable) from PIN 18 to PIN17 AND PIN4.
Give that a whirl (at the moment your PCB is not getting any ground signal, so that's why it won't work).

Hold the front page, I have a picture!!!!
Red is missing but I guess I got the red on the wrong pin.
I disconnect the stereo sound on the plug but that should not be hard to do (he hopes)
I cant thank u enough fagin, cheers mate.

Re: Modified CGA to VGA Scaler to accept clean sync RGB SCART
No problem..... Invoice is in the post!
Re: Modified CGA to VGA Scaler to accept clean sync RGB SCART
hahahaha
I gotta admit it was sooooooo worth it - Saturn looks jaw dropping!
Right on to the next one lol
I tried my CD32 on the and looked at how I did the Saturn & I managed to get a picture fine but its snowing/crackling a bit?
So then I tried me SNES, no picture at all when I plugged it in the CGA. I opened up the scart WOW it looked well different loads of barrels on the tips of the pins & the RGB & other wires were all in different place. It worked fine in my TV not the RGB port of the scart so I thought hey let me rewire it like the Saturn one (Mario Kart here I come)
Wired it like my Saturn &...... nuttin, tried it back in my TV, Nuttin. Do I need to get a special scart for a USA SNES or something?

Re: Modified CGA to VGA Scaler to accept clean sync RGB SCART
F me... if you think the Saturn looks jaw dropping on this scaler, you'd shit your pants if you actually used a scaler that was "proper"! lol Welcome to the world of scalers.
CD32.....
The snowy "thing" maybe a sync or interference problem.
Crack open your SCART lead, take a photo (make sure its really clear) and post it up.
As for the SNES...
Re-wire back to how it was (don't run before you can walk! lol), take and post a picture for me.

Re: Modified CGA to VGA Scaler to accept clean sync RGB SCART
Great ok I will post the cd32 one first. It's basically a been hard wired to accept a neo geo scart cable which has been achived by taking the rgb off an internal chip, as the cd32 only has s-video & composite on the back.
As for the snes I am snookered as I don't know how it first looked as I just dived straight in (a little high from getting it to finally working I think) and started changing the pins

Re: Modified CGA to VGA Scaler to accept clean sync RGB SCART
Ahh don't worry about the CD32 wiring... It will be down to the mod then IMO. I can't advise on that I'm afraid.
Re: Modified CGA to VGA Scaler to accept clean sync RGB SCART
All it is, is a scart lead that supports v sync, 5v,red, blue, green, ground?
Re: Modified CGA to VGA Scaler to accept clean sync RGB SCART
Also when I mount this in a box, how easy would it be to add a power switch on/off?
Re: Modified CGA to VGA Scaler to accept clean sync RGB SCART
Doesn't appear to be anything going to PIN 17 - should be a ground on this.
Re: Modified CGA to VGA Scaler to accept clean sync RGB SCART
Great I'll try that and let u know.
What am I gonna do about the snes scart, buy a new one?

Re: Modified CGA to VGA Scaler to accept clean sync RGB SCART
You can rewire put you'll need to have a multimeter.
If you decide to buy another, you'll need a NTSC wired one.
