Step down converters

Post by jp »

OK, I'm getting a PC-Engine Duo R in under a week, but I don't have a step down converter.

Now, once upon a time I bought a JP Saturn and it eventually died out. I'm SPECULATING that it was because I wasn't using a step-down converter, but it could have been something else (it didn't work too great when I got it, the power light would blink on and off and eventually it would start working).

Now, here's my question:
1. How crucial is a step-down converter?
2. Where can I get one?
3. How much do they cost?

And thats it. Thanks for the info. :)

get an ac adaptor for it, i'm sharing my cdx(or genesis or megadrive depending where youare) one with my duo-r and works like charm. try not to get a step down converter if you are unsure about the which one to get. you have to get a "big" ones because those "small" ones (sized like an ac adaptor) couldn't handle the current, and it will melt.
