Im finaly going to buy my own PS2 (ive just pre-ordered Mushihimesama) and had a few questions before i do.
Japanese/Asian versions. Whats the difference?
Is there any compatibility problems with japanese and asian games? It seems the Asian version is quite a bit cheaper and comes with a UK plug so does this mean i won't need a stepdown converter?
Seriously, is there any problems with the new slimline model overheating?
And finaly, where to buy from? I usually buy from liksang or play-asia but if you know any others which may be cheaper.

Re: import PS2 questions
Some have said that the slim model heats up more easily than the regular one, but I've also heard that its laser is more finicky...theevilfunkster wrote:Seriously, is there any problems with the new slimline model overheating?
I have a white asian PS2 that has the UK plug and it's great. I don't know if it's been modded but it plays all region PS2 & PSX games as well as CDR/DVDR games.

How wonderful! That was how i bought it. I thought it was a special edition or something, as it was the Grand Turismo Pack.

A: No problems with normal usage (if you leave it on for a long time, or it has gathered a pile of dust, then maybe you will get problems, but that can happen with any console).
Most people that had laser and heat issues have been caused by dodgy modchip installations (many modchips create too much heat to be safely used in the PSTwo).
