Sony PVM Loud Clicking Sound

Hi

I set my PVM up today and it looks great but I've noticed from time to time I'll hear a loud static click and the screen will flicker , I'm using an otaku scart hub and from memory it's a 20l2 model.

Any advise please

Classic arcing symptom.

Could be soot buildup underneath the anode cap, along the anode wire, or around the flyback. Discharge the CRT properly and clean everything throughly with IPA. Apply dielectric grease under the cap.

Worst possible case scenario, it’s a dying flyback, for which getting replacements is almost impossible to find nowadays without cannabalizing another monitor.

That kind of makes sense as I had the case off for at least 8 months sat under a work bench as I painted the case.

The more I played it yesterday the less it clicked almost to the point were it wasn't doing it at all bit I'm going to do what you said and clean it up.
