I don't think I was clear in my explanation. The quoted text is correct, but it's in the wrong place because it interrupts the explanation for zetsushikai. Here's what it looks like now:

Quote:
[*]Kakusei Zesshikai: Entered by pressing and holding B, in this mode bullet patterns often become more fierce, but the multiplier is maxed at x500. Note that bullets in this mode are not turned into gold, but actually spawn more bullets. Gold and gems both deplete in this mode.

[*]Kakusei Shikai Over: This mode is entered when player either presses B with no gems, or gem counter reaches zero in kakusei mode. Bullets speed up, and become red. Destroying enemies in this mode render one gold, and are not factored by a multiplier. Getting hit by a bullet in this mode will trigger the auto barrier, and will consume the entire barrier meter. Arcade translated the gold depletion rate opposed to gem depletion as follows:

Code:
Stage 1     500 gems     999 gold
Stage 2     500 gems     999 gold
Stage 3     500 gems     666 gold
Stage 4     500 gems     666 gold
Stage 5     500 gems     499 gold
Stage 6     500 gems     499 gold

Unlike regular kakusei mode, destroying enemies in this mode results in very small (if any) loss of gems (Clearly you aren't referring to over mode here since you have 0 gems if you're in kakusei over). A chart for both modes is listed below (as found in Arcadia).
Code:
              Boss      Normal Enemy     Zako
Kakusei       -60            -25          -5
Zesshikai     -50            -10           0

Striking a bullet in this mode will trigger the auto-barrier, and will result in the loss of the entire remaining barrier gauge. Mode will then be changed to Kakusei, where normal kakusei rules apply. The multiplier should pick up where it left off, but will not exceed x100. Note that if you continue to kill enemies in this mode thinking you're in zesshikai, you will find your gem counter hit zero, very fast. Other than the cost of going form zesshikai to regular kakusei, there is no loss of gems or gold. If no guard barrier remains when getting his, results will be the same as dying.

But I think it got mixed up and maybe is supposed to look like this:

Yeah, I think you're right. I'll give it a look over later tonight. Thanks for the heads up.

How do you level up your other char in Arrange mode.

I mean when I 1CC the game killing the last boss with Ageha transformed as the girl.. Ageha levels up, but not the transformed version. So how do you level up the transformed version of a character.

You talking about increasing game rank (difficulty) with each 1CC? I'm going to assume you are...

At the title screen of arrange mode press the "back" button to choose playing as player 2. Now when you 1CC the game you're other gender will have increased rank as well. I guess at the top of the screen it does say "Lv__", right now it's probably only displaying one number but once you all-clear it with Player 2 you'll see it as Lv1*1 (or whatever number you set it to in the game options menu.

Thanks a lot. But what does it count as? If its 1*1 is that equal to just 2*0? Does it multiply the difficulty or add together. Or is it something completely different?

Clearing 1P side raises normal rank (default gender) while clearning 2P side raises kakusei rank (bonus gender). So, to answer your question: something completely different.

Does restarting a stage completely nulls any achievement?

Such as get 1000 gold and gems from the fountain in stage 2? Could I restart the stage over and over to milk this spot?

What about beating shin Seseri at 5*5?(The no miss version of her?)
Could I restart the stage till I no miss up to her to do this?

I'm pretty sure restarting nullifies achievements and doesn't let you put in your initials/save your high score.

That it does.
It's rather annoying how you can't save a score if you restarted on the first stage. It's essentially restarting the game, for which there oughtn't to be much of a penalty. Granted, my score is still quite pathetic (something like 52M after stage 2) and I game overed trying to score the St3 midboss, but I'd still like to be able to happily enter my initials next to a 56,283,XXX score.

How does ~38-39M after stage 1 stack up to a decent stage 1 score? I always fuck up on the boss and often a little bit at the end of the stage; without screwing up on an average run I could probably pull another 10M out of that...?

Assuming you're talking about 360 mode, 39M is really good. You can get upwards of ~45M if you get everything right. Maybe as high as 50M if you can land the 500x on the boss with everything else perfect too.

I still don't know how exactly to get the 500x on the boss. I can get it up to 450x or so but never all the way up.

Arcade, actually. Yes, I'm a slut and I use the tutorial glitch. I've used GP's strat, too, and I've seen at least one way it can be improved upon, but I'd rather just use the tutorial glitch. I've seen over 65M scores with it, so my 39M is okay, I guess...

As for the boss pattern, are you sitting up by its left wing (meaning on the right side of the screen)? If you weaken the boss down to basically nothing and hang up at the tip of its wing, then wait for the huge spinny pattern, it'll spit a huge diarrhea of bullets down. My guess is that if you have enough gems and gold and you let them spawn enough, the x500 is possible. You probably have to preempt the pattern. I fuck up that part unconditionally, so my score is with a 100x multiplier at most.

Pre-post edit: Yeah, EOJ beat me to it.

Yeah I was talking about without the tutorial glitch (hence 360 mode).

And yeah I know HOW to get the 500x but there seems to be another key element other than just parking up in the top corner. Probably has something to do with positioning or timing that I'm missing.

Does anyone know what triggers Shin Serei(chapter 5 boss) 3rd song?

I know arcade/360 mode plays the normal boss song. Black label plays the other song. But I recall having another kind of a upbeat song play while fighting her. I think it was in black label or arranged.

Also on a side note Im curious to what triggers the explosions that kill every enemy right before the fight starts with her.

Jesus. It's rather annoying if you don't get the energy item in time ad need it.

Even if I don't need it I charge my shield/laser half way and nab it right as I'm giving her some green death. Maybe not efficient when playing for score but I really don't care.

No one else experienced Shin Serei's third song?

I think it has to do with Zesshikai Over in Black Label. The song sounds heroic and all, but ive only managed to get this song to play twice.

Could someone confirm to me (as it isn't very clear anywhere as far as I know) :
to increase the rank in Arrange, there are two ways :
1. you have to clear the game, with the first or/and the second player, this increases rank 1 by 1.

2. Another way to do is watch a replay of an All Clear Arrange run, press A when asked to, and then you can choose your rank in the Arrange options, with the max rank being the max rank of the replay.

I know the second one is true (I've just done this right now !), but is the first one true as well ?

You have to 1CC arranged mode to level up that character.

Too bad all the top 10 of arranged will always be that one girl. Got to manually get the other chars up there which will take too much time.

Thanx !
By the way, Tateha is the best character in Arange mode, isn't she ? Her wide shot is a good way to cancel a large amount o bullets in Over mode.

Hmm not sure about that. I think Asagi could cancel more bullets spreading her options around and plus it doesnt do much damage leaving enemies alive longer. Its just Tateha is so much easier to use and survive with. Her spread shot makes you nearly impossible to get hit even with bullets coming from all angles.

Please tell me anyone on this forum heard that 3rd song for Serei? I know it wasnt my imagination.. happened twice.

There's this technique that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere, but I've seen done quite a lot in the superplay that I've been watching.

Basically (in Arcade/X360 mode):
1. You enter Zatsushikai mode with more gems than gold
2. Cash-in until you run out of gold but still have gems
3. Wait for all the revenge bullets to spawn and kill something
4. Immediately transform back into normal mode

If it's done right, you'll get an x100 multiplier for all of the bullets you cancel and no new bullets will spawn, but you won't get any gold. I haven't been able to pull this off yet (you pretty much need to have to collect just the right amount of gold), but there are quite a few places where NOT having gold is more beneficial.

The reason for this is that the next time you press and hold the Kakusei button (to immediately change to Zatsushikai mode the moment you collect gold), you won't have to wait for your meager leftover gold supply to deplete before collecting more gold from enemies that spawn a lot of bullets.

The current #1 360 mode replay shows this technique being performed 2 or 3 times in stage 1.

EDIT: After trying this a few times, I don't think that timing matters at all now. It's just that spawned bullets don't spawn gold if you cancel them out in regular kakusei mode. Still kinda a nifty thing to learn if you want to clean up and cash in on the last of the Zatsushikai bullets before changing back to normal mode.

Interesting. I noticed that happening sometimes, the bullets canceling but not gold being given out, and was wondering what was going on. I thought maybe it had something to do with timing the switch to normal mode to happen between after the zetsu suicide bullets despawn and before they respawn, but for that to be the case you'd have to still have gold and you'd get the 500x not the 100x multiplier.

Don't know if it has been mentioned, but in Omake mode it does not matter whether you get hit (and thus autobarrier) in the 3rd level in order to get the 1up.

Yeah that would be mean if you couldn't get the extend in Omake because of using a bomb! :D You can suck up so many bullets from those big guys.

p.s.
