GD: Vasara

Post by RNGmaster »

I love this game, but there are a few problems holding me back from getting really focused on it. First off, save states don't work, so there's no good way to practice - is there any way to get around this? Second of all, how do I get more red gems to appear? It seems that I'm just playing through, and all of a sudden there's a huge torrent of red gems on the screen. I know how to trigger the large ones (they appear in fixed areas) but the smaller ones are kind of random.

Savestates work fine in wolfmameplus 99, I just checked. Dunno about this gem torrent though.

Looks like some hidden areas release about 5 gems each when hit with a charge attack, I thought it had something to do with reflecting bullets on an enemy, but apparently I was wrong. An example is a few lanterns that appear at the start of Maeda(spear guy)'s stage.

Yeah, certain background elements do release gems when hit with a melee attack - I think a pair of rock carvings before one of the bosses are another example.

Try to imagine for a while the passage/boss before playing again. Should be a quicker way to improve.
Vasara is quite an intuitive game, as most of the Visco's software. That is why I like both Vasaras, Storm Blade and Ashura Blaster.

Playing video games in my mind will make me better. Not sure I see that.

Does anyone understand the end-of-stage bonus?

I've been practicing special attack kill chains for extra points, and I think I'm catching on with that part. But in the stage end bonus I almost always get 29/30, and I have no idea what is needed to get all 30 more often.

Thanks!

If memory serves this refers to the number of "special" enemies you killed in the stage: bosses and mid-bosses are part of the number, but most of them are "normal" enemies with a flag sticking out of them. Keep an eye out for those, you see a little marker pop up when you kill one.
