Post by dave4shmups »

I may be alone in this, but I just love those creepy 8-bit tunes! Some of my fav. game music ever! Uninvited wasn't bad either. I'd also have to say that those three games are still my fav. NES RPG's ever.

I know there have been CD's with NES music released on them; I should check and see if of them have any tunes from these three games. Doubt it, though.

I 100% agree with you on Shadowgate. Awesome game. I went through it again not too long ago.

Someone did a remix of it on that vid-game music site (overclocked ?) that was pretty good.

Yep. It was overclocked. They actually had 4 remixes, but the Death Rave one was the best IMHO. :)

Deja Vu has the best music of any NES game.

Thanks, I just downloaded them and they're great!!

Andi, I think Deja Vu's my favorite as well, although Shadowgate is a very close second!

And BTW, the boss music in Journey to Silius rocks!!

Here's a metal version of some Shadowgate tunes, done by a fan:

It's really awesome. So is the guy who metalized the battle theme from FF Mystic Quest. I think his username is Ashane and it's called "Red Cap Assault". Search for it at that site.

Yeah, the first video game I ever wrote was a surrealistic adventure game inspired solely by me trying to write a game that fit the mood of Deja Vu's music.

It was terrible.

haha, thanks for the metal link. I hadn't heard the Shadowgate theme in years (or longer) and I instantly recognized it. Good stuff. I have the cart, I think I might go fire it up just to listen to it. (I still remember that sound it makes when you enter a new room, that transition sound...I don't like it)

I wonder why Deja Vu II was never released on the NES? It did get a GBC release, though.

Dave: I had a copy for Mac OS9 as well. Unforunately, I don't know if there wasn't any color or I couldn't get the color to work, but the OS9 version was all in black and white. Also, it didn't seem as cool and moody either.

From my limited experience with it, it isn't worth bothering with anyway.

You definitely need to check out Journey to Silius...it's a good run 'n gunner, but the music's out of this world for the NES.

I think Tim Follin did the music for Shadowgate, the man's a damned genius with 8-bit music tools. Just check out his work with Silver Surfer; the music made that game.
