Alien Hominid

Post by Neon »

Since I'm probably not going to be a noble hero and preorder Trizeal, I've been considering buying this. Are the metal slug comparisons at all deserved? It seems like a lot of the praise it got was because it was released for Gamecube.

this game is super fun. i've never really sat down and played it one player, but when i have friends over 2 player it's a non stop fun fest.

the level design is amazing.

the character design is amazing.

boss fights are super fun.

animation is a little choppy, but whatever. it's not that bad.

highly recommended.
say, by the way...

and in the meantime, it's gone away....

It's a good game, just doesn't feel refined like so many other classic run n gunners.

My main beef is that there are only 3 main area, I woulda liked to see a vaeriety in level design. Though some ideas, like riding a giant yeti, is innovative.

One of those games you'll beat and will pick up again only to play minigames (and the PDA ones).

This is a great game, lots of fun. Well worth the relatively bargain-level price.

it is indeed a great game. only played it one-player as of yet but it was worth the price of admission. must point out that at times it feels super(duper) cheap (hard to see shots, guaranteed-death situations). to balance this, there life-earning system is really generous.

Stupid thing is that in Europe the Gamecube is left without the game. :(
Guess this means I'll import the US version... as it looks really cool! :D

I agree with you on all accounts except for the level design. There are some great segments (level 2, with the freeway comes to mind) but for the most part the level design is subpar and indicative of a first-time developer. Compare the levels of Metal Slug to Alien Hominid. One strikingly apparent difference is that Hominid's levels are very FLAT, direction is primarily limited to the X axis (discounting the space levels). I do think it takes away from it somewhat. But still a GREAT game.

This game is fun, but unfortunately I haven't had a chance to play it in two player mode.

There is something satisfying about hiding underground, and biting heads.

As mentioned before, a lot of parts are cheap, as in it's very hard to see bullets. The bosses are very cool though.

i love all the "special" moves! perfect way to vent if i get a bit agitated.

however, i must say i am angry with Bohemoth for the 3-1 boss. sorry, man but i just don't get off on killing kittens.
