A good community to sell rare Dreamcast stuff?

Post by GaijinPunch »

Maybe a weird topic. I have an old Dreamcast that fetches a pretty penny on Ebay... and some peripherals that are equally desirable. I have a decent idea of what I want for it. Should I just throw it up on Ebay and say fuck it or is there a defacto place where DC nerds hang out?

Not here? Dreamcast Talk is the biggest gathering of DC users on a forum, sure, but there's also AtariAge, which is busier and has plenty of Dreamcast buyers as well.

I posted it here a while back... or at least asked in the What's it Worth thread. No mention. Maybe I'll post here but looks like all the action is PCB and arcade hardware based these days. Nothing wrong with that. :)

Avoiding eBay is a good idea since they are auto-reporting for tax purposes now.

Which system is it btw, one of the Biohazard ones? I have a lot of Dreamcasts including Japanese special ones, but I don't have those so I'm curious.

I always report that stuff when there's a profit, tbh. I mean, Paypal reports all transactions over $600.

What I've got that should get me some coin:
- Dreamcast Super Black Model (used/boxed). Box ain't mint but not beaten to hell. Pretty sure I don't have DreamPassport but that shouldn't be too big of a deal
- Black Broadband Adaptor [HKT-0400] (used/boxed)
- A VGA Box

While I'm at it, I've got the (world's only?) complete set of SPEC: Sega Players Enjoy Club. I've actively kept an eye out for this for 2 fucking decades. I've never seen another set even close to this complete. I've got all the issues, the envelopes they came in, the members card, and even the notices they sent in between apologizing for the delays in their respective envelopes. All addressed to the same user.

Not after that one, but good luck. And yeah Dream Passport is a non-issue. If this is a 4 digit type deal and someone really cared you could buy one for like $5 or w/e to have it.

Only if payments are sent as Goods & Services. Friends & Family doesn't count towards that (PayPal actually sent out an automated email just the other day clarifying that).

That said, good luck being a new member on a forum (like AtariAge or DreamcastTalk) and getting people to send as F&F.

I would try listing here again, honestly.

I wouldn't ask for F&F to be fair. I also get the new member thing but I think there's some synergy between all these forums... I think my cred here count for something. :)

I'll post here first and see what happens. I need to get a converter to actually confirm it works. It sounds like to boots fine, but nothing to view it on ATM. :)

Yeah, pointing back to here would be helpful. You could also try Sega-16 and Racketboy, though the latter forum is quieter these days, not as much going on trade-wise.

I dunno how active it is as I haven't checked it for years, but I sold a handful/bought non-shmup stuff on the Racketboy forums and had a good experience.
