I'm quite partial to Icycalm and JAPJACquio threads myself, but they blend together into pure insanity and probably aren't everyone's cup of nonsense. Also the Quotable Regalsin gets a revisit from me a lot. And 4D lizardmen and the vanishing Raytrace(?) I guess I just like the insane people. There's probably better quality out there.

Having his own website he has always been a bit of an outsider, like Treasure. Not just appreciated here on the farm, but by a broader group of Japanese gaming connoisseurs. Perhaps his hi-res art scans are his Ikaruga, and developer translations his RSG. Maybe the "TV you've just watched" thread is his McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure, something he created to get going. He's widely considered to put out some of the best content in the community, but also known to shitposting. Both his website and Treasure seemed to have closed their doors. We all wish it was 2004 again (or something like that).

As sad as it makes me, I do think even the off topic section is a shadow of it's former self. There's still some great banter here and I still find out about a ton of good non-related game things, but the JAPJAC and icycalm threads were absolutely legendary. RegalSin is probably the closest thing we've had in recent times and was rather shortlived. The YJ bid wars and flyers/boxes going for insane amounts (does that still happen?) were fun times as well. (Side note, some of those threads were lost I believe, when the Trading Station split).

Anywho, maybe this is just the circle of life.

Yeah, the curse of being old. New things are exciting. Old things are boring. Can't recreate the feeling of newness by going back to an old well, you have to do something new.

It's funny how worked up some were when new Cave games were supported by emulators. Now it's like "there were new Cave games?"

My old man moment today was when someone said the word "Heatwave" and the stupid song started playing in my head. Went to the internet to fill in the memory gaps and was confused by some video with 300 million views by someone I've never heard of. Had to dig a little to find the 1963 song. 2.7 million views.

I do think that up until say... 2010, there was still a lot to be excited for. New games still coming out... some older gems being uncovered... JAPJAC covering things in Japan, in English, before they were even conceived by their creators. Oh the good old days.
