Darn. I think I made the right call on ordering the US BAM2 for Saturn. Ordered some JP PSX games from US sellers, as well as a JP PS1 (the latter of which arrived and works great).

Temporary suspension of international mail delivery to the United States

April 23, 2020

We have just been informed of the significant delay in the delivery of international mail to the United States due to the flight reduction and suspension of aircraft due to the global spread of new coronavirus infections.

We have made every possible effort to ship promptly in cooperation with airlines and the US postal service. I have no idea what to send for some international mail.

Therefore, from April 24 (Friday) onwards, we will temporarily stop accepting the following international mail items * addressed to the United States.
(*) Target mail, etc.
Type of mail to be temporarily suspended

EMS mail
Parcel postal matter * Treated as aviation (SAL has already stopped)
Regular mail (small packages and printed materials) * Treated as aviation (SAL has already stopped)

Type of mail to continue underwriting

Parcel postal matter * Handling by sea mail
Regular mail (letter, postcard, mail for the blind) * Air and sea mail
Regular mail (small packaging and printed matter)

Substantial delays are expected for postal items that we continue to accept.

The items of mail we have accepted until now will be shipped sequentially by the remaining airmail. Expected. Therefore, if you wish to retrieve your mail, please contact the post office where the mail was sent.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but we kindly ask for your understanding and understanding in advance.

For now DHL is still shipping. They are expensive though so not worth it for random cheap stuff.

Had a package delivered for shipping in Japan on 4/7. No sign of it being scanned by the USPS stateside yet so I guess I'm SOL for now. Sigh.

Forgot to say knock-on-wood again.

Interesting times. Now that the dirty gaijins are for the most part, effectively prevented from competing with the Japanese, I wonder what it will do to the prices of shmups, PCBs and whatever else y'all collect. Or maybe you can hop over the border to Canada temporarily and receive your packages there and bring them with you back to the US. Having said that, apparently Canada Post has a somewhat negative reputation.

In other news, I've probably roughly received 6 months worth of "Item Not Received" cases on eBay in the span of a week. This whole situation is ridiculous.

Yeah, it seems ordering internationally from JP to the US (as I've have) is halted now for the time being until further notice as I already had two seperate items from two retailers cancelled and/or returned to sender and refunded due to the current climate. Other than someone else mentioning DHL, but expensive shipping obviously.

At least Amazon JP ships with DHL. Worked out well for the Space Invaders collection for Switch (which was cheaper than Play-Asia with the discount on the game itself). I'll wait and see if my games get cancelled. Frustrating thing is two games that haven't arrived started shipping in mid March (one was returned to sender and the other may or may not get sent back to the seller). I went with US sellers for some JP psx games and it's working out so far.

I have the option of DHL or FedEx here, but that's pretty expensive for such a small item I need to send...

Looks like here in Canada, only surface Japan Post is cut : the other 2 Japan post services (airmail and EMS) are a go. But they state that dur to increased workload, a lot of sipments are getting delayed and some lost... doesnt exactly make me want to ship that way.

That particular proxy didn't seem to increase the storage time to compensate. I want to wait before shipping 9so that hopefully services get better) but looks like I only have the bog standard 45 days. I'll write to them to make sure I think.

Are there sellers you use regularly that are good? I usually order from Japan but right now US sellers seem like a better option.

I usually import occasionally, but I try to be careful about feedback. Of the sellers I used recently, I found retrogamesjapan and macross126 to be very good. The latter only uses stock photos, but the games arrived in the described condition.

Update on the two games that shipped via SAL in March that were thought to be sent back, Dead or Alive and Puyo Puyo Sun. They just arrived here yesterday, so no worries there.

I received a few PS1 games from Retro Saikou (US seller), which worked out very well. Mr. Driller G was the last one I ordered. Worth it for Doristone alone, though I wonder what the deal was with the changes from the arcade. I mean the AC is ROM based on a beefed up version of the hardware, but that hardware is still bottlenecked by limited RAM and the regular PS1 hardware supports the same resolutions. System 10 is an odd one too. Specs suggest it has a faster processor than System 12, but all of the games listed for it are 2D games.

I seriously doubt anyone gives a shit but I did a reverse import thing. Sent a package to Japan... Priority... for a price I feel was exorbitant but I didn't want to roll the dice w/ cheaper service as a lot of time went into this payload. It's at least made it to Japan in customs in less than a week which I'll say is desirable to being stuck in US purgatory.

I currently have a bunch of games waiting to be shipped from Japan to France, proxy buyer on Yahoo Auction.
I'm not sure I understand correctly : is airmail small packet international still working from Japan to Europe ?

I think that's the big question. Maybe even cuntry by cuntry even for EU? Nobody seems to know. If it doesn't cost too much it probably wouldn't hurt having the proxy hold it for you.

cuntry by cuntry ? Long live this forum and GP.

After checking more carefully the .pdf file give in the OP, it looks like France is not on the list of restricted package shipping.
But yeah I'll wait a little and hope this resolves soon. Buyee is 100JPY per day per item, and I have 9 of them items waiting there so this can grow fast.

A buddy of mine just tried to mail me some swag he made. Guy at the post office straight up cock blocked it with "only letters to the US". No idea how that works, but it is what it is.

I guess my importing days are on hold. I was able to get a refund from the psikyo artbook I had ordered... Maybe I can find a domestic seller?

Sucks how hard it is to find non-japanese sellers for the games/items I want, at decent prices. FromJapan has a whole list of restrictions; I think the only things being shipped out from Japan are by Surface Mail? And if your anecdote is true, it might not be worth scouring YAJ at this time.

They know that they have people by the balls for supply, basically.

Still waiting a bit to see if restrictions will fall soon. I have 20 days left on a small package over there. Fedex and DHL are just too fucking expensive for a small packet like this. With JP post, I'm afraid it'll get lost in the shuffle...

My buyee package, airmail small packet, departed to France this week as easily as always. Looks like the .pdf file in OP is correct.

wound up shelling the big bucks for a DHL shipment on something that would have had to be a SAL large packet - ended up spending almost 50% more on the shipping, but it was a figure i've had on pre-order for more than a year that had a seller-exclusive bonus. feels bad to spend extra, but i couldn't keep waiting despite the extra like 15 or 20 it was to get it now.

worried abt a lot of other stuff i've got on order for the coming months :S hope shipping is safe to open back up soon, but i'll probably just end up with a lot on backorder.

According to my mate, who admittedly isn't an international shipper, it was "letters only". No airmail small packet or EMS. Maybe boat?

I have an EMS order that was 'shipped' on April 20th. Its been stuck at Osaka airport since the 28th. I don't think there is going to be any update any time soon.

Damn, thanks for the update. looks like I'll forget about Japan Post. I,ll probably cave in and use FedEx/DHL then

I'm in the same boat. I was able to cancel some of the other items (though two items shipped via SAL in March arrived and were effectively un-cancelled), but there's one item I'm still waiting on that was "shipped" around April 6th and is still at the airport. ACA Neogeo KoF '95 will tide me over before the Saturn one comes.

While Canada is not on the official Yubin/Japan Post no ship list, that doesn't mean many shipments are happening anyway. Somehow I also have an item from Amazon.ca also shipped from Japan and its overdue by a week too. Suffice to say, couriers are probably the only choice for the time being.

Edit: So my oldest EMS order now arrived in Canada, which is a good development but perhaps a bit late for its purpose. Expect long delays is the bottom line, EMS or not.

Yeah, proxy I use specified in their covid warning that Japan Post is buried in shipment and that big delays are to be expected. Sounds to me like a perfect scenario for packages to get lost in the shuffle. Not gonna take that risk

It looks like KoF '95 has started to ship out. Tracking has been updated for the first time in awhile and it says that the package has been dispatched.
