Spent the weekend feeling like death after my second shot.
Anti-vaxxers were always there to make me feel better though.

No, BryanM, the billionaires who run the media that propagandizes them and the nerds they hire to gerrymander the living shit out of voting districts are winning.

I still remember canvassing at the door of a woman in the economically downward-sliding Horicon WI in the 2004 election. Her house was falling apart, she had several kids running around, and she told me she was voting for the candidate of the billionaires, Bush jr, because he was "a real man!" When she saw the quizzical look I gave in response she said, "Kerry, he's in favor of gay rights?" I responded in the affirmative. "That's why I'm voting for Bush, he's a real man!" Incidentally, among the modest homes in this town, the only ones still in good repair belonged to Democrat-voting union members.

I don't buy the argument that people are turning away free socialized medicine and instead paying for horse de-worming paste because of economic distress.

The revolution will not be televised, nor will it be accomplished by pushing right-wing talking points to own the libs (but totally from the left!) This is why I hate Jimmy Dore so much. At best he's unhelpful, at worst he trains potentially effective leftist activists to be politically stupid.

There was an episode of Seinfeld where George has an epiphany that his instincts are so consistently wrong, he'll try for a week doing the opposite, and by the end of the week he has a beautiful girlfriend and a dream job at the New York Yankees. Similarly Jimmy Dore's predictions of how the Trump presidency would turn out back when he was pushing Bernie or Bust were hilariously wrong, and I think if the left took Jimmy Dore's whole "Don't organize, screw the Nurse's Union, Bernie's a cuck, instead vote for Tulsi and buddy up with the Boogaloo Bois to menace AOC just like Marjorie Taylor Greene" line of reasoning and did the opposite, we'd have M4A within a year.

And in addition to propaganda and gerrymandering efforts, the simple fact is that the major election systems in North America are fundamentally idiotic. It is well known that plurality elections are rife with pathologies that make it a deeply flawed system with the habit of consistently choosing poor, unfavored candidates. Until a switch to something like score voting is made, fears around "strategic voting" and encouraging good, less established/financially-backed candidates from running for fear of being "spoilers" will forever ruin elections and therefore the governments that result from them.

I posted this bit from the Harvard Electoral Integrity Project in the apocalypse thread last week. Remains very relevant:

In its most recent study of the 2020 elections, the integrity of Wisconsin’s electoral boundaries earned a 23 – worst in the nation, on par with Jordan, Bahrain and the Congo.

Alabama (31), North Carolina (32), Michigan (37), Ohio (33), Texas (35), Florida (37) and Georgia (39) scored only marginally higher. Nations that join them in the 30s include Hungary, Turkey and Syria.
Gerrymander your state so hard your democratic integrity is on par with the Congo to own the libs.

Ugh, don't I know it.

A couple months ago I noticed my license plate fee had doubled, so I went to the fee website to see what's up, and I found out the Koch brothers added a bunch of extra fees to penalize driving a hybrid car in Wisconsin.

On top of the already infamous fees to penalize solar panels on your house.

I'm currently visiting my aunt in St Petersburg, Russia. Everything is pretty standard here. I mean there is almost no sign of pandemic here. Almost no one is wearing masks in the streets. Tomorrow we are having a long-awaited tour along the river Volga via Vodohod. Can't wait!

Okay, back on track:

Pfizer covid vax is now fully FDA-approved, so nobody's gonna have any problem with it anymore.

Did you have "Corrupt FDA" on your bingo card? I absolutely did. I also have "The vaccine contains [insert item from news horror story out of Afghanistan] -Source: Military" and "Harvesting the superior DNA of patriots." *Crosses fingers*

It is admittedly a bit weird to have TWO apocalypse threads. I'd call this one a cheap knock-off, but honestly each sub-apocalypse deserves its own thread as it manifests. That's how important the apocalypse is to doomed NPC's like us.

... this leads to the obvious conclusion that at the end of all things: we'll be 100% apocalypse threads. My doomy heart quivers in happiness at this thought.

Ok, but it's actually because lesser-evilism has locked you into becoming a bog standard democrat when it comes to function, something you're understandably grossed out by due to their incredible poopiness when it comes to morality or winning elections.

It's an interesting variant of the other New New Democrats. The adversarial nature of the internet, the exposure to all thoughts whether one wants to think them or not... carved out this weird little niche where some form of a coherent ideology (and lesser evilism is certainly at least more honest than liberalism and fascism) had to be formed in order to lead to the exact same singular conclusion: grant your consent to the oligarchs. It comes in two flavors, Cap'N Crunch or Tony The Tiger.

Consider me personally disappointed in anyone on this forum who sees this all coming yet isn't building a space fighter with homing lasers as a last ditch hope for mankind.

As has been acknowledged by others a more in-depth response would be beyond the scope of this thread, but in a nutshell you misconstrue my point; deliberately, I'm increasingly inclined to believe, as I've been banging this particular drum quite consistently for several years straight now. It has nothing to do with anyone's innate ability to grasp, but rather one's deliberate willingness to acknowledge.

Case in point - Trump is apparently now taking orders from CNN.

The meltdown over that really helped me get through the weekend. What's funnier is that it isn't even news, he's been talking about the vaccines for months now.

It's a very good article but I wish my government institutions were communicating like professionals instead of high school social media users.

Looking through their timeline that tweet's a bit of an outlier which is a relief.

Everyone has their limits, and when people are putting horse de-worming paste on their toast, it's understandable that the mask of professionalism slips a little.

I suspect their actual in-the-moment response was something more like this:

Was sitting with my mom and brothers this morning contemplating a coffee table book filled with covid/anti vaxxers who died of covid.

I will not be short on material.
You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.
