I finally got an appointment in town for next Tuesday!

I live in a research university town, so we don't have many anti-vaxxers, and ironically that's meant it's been harder to get vaccines here than if I were to schlep it two hours into megachurch country.

But paranoid me, I remember that guy who sabotaged a shipment of vaccines in Grafton a couple months ago. He was a licensed pharmacist and a fundie (who believed the world was flat and the sky was a hologram put there by the Jews to prevent us from seeing the giant face of God looming over us.) So a schlep to megachurch country wasn't really something I was comfortable with.

In America, there is a group of people (read: idiots) that say the government is tracking those that are vaccinated via a nano-chip. They generally post these claims on Facebook via their real tracking device that they paid for and upgrade every year or so.

Pretty much how COVID itself feels then. I am over it, thankfully.

I guess I'm too old to know what PFP is. I checked out his Twitter and it's the usual stuff. He makes a joke about being chipped... as he gets his vaccine.

Pfizer #2 injected yesterday at 1pm.

Got very tired and useless around 5pm, fell asleep early. Woke up today with sore muscles and a headache; feel kinda dizzy and light-headed. Still sore even after taking advil.

Small price to pay for compliance.

Got the first dose of Moderna yesterday. Spent the night feeling very cold, so I couldn't fall asleep until sunrise, but I'm fine now after catching some Z's.

Did anyone else think it was weird that they had to put the chip in your ballsack or was that just me? They told me they had to put it in the softest spot on your body and I didn't want to ask to many questions or risk losing my Biden-proof Free-to-Travel Pass, but now my libido has been really inert for the last few weeks. Has this happened to anyone else???

Comfortable white papas and grans all over 'Merica owe everyone else big time. Their lives were saved. It would be nice if boomers could stop being awful. They owe society their lives, after all. Remember that word "society"? Nature came to thin the herd, but we spent borrowed money to save them. We spent mountains of time, treasure, and risked future health problems from all this inactivity to save mostly boomers. What will we get in return? More pushback on anything that might actually make life better (of course!) I'm certain universal health care will remain out of reach, despite the fact that pooled resources saved the boomers. Boomer resistance to change won't change. It's frustrating.

Got my first dose earlier this morning; was surprised how quickly I was able to make an appointment, considering both the tales I'd heard of people refreshing screens all day and the fact that they just opened it up to all adults this week, but got in on my first try. Was at the county's "main" vaccination center, so they had pathways all set up and National Guard guys pointing everyone in the right direction, got in and out pretty quick, the second dose should be even quicker since I'm registered now.

Now if we could only get fuckwits like this to quit throwing sand in the gears for two seconds.

Y'all thought the USA had an insurmountable lead but India is SURGING.

On a serious note, I hope Brazil and India can both get it under control. Vaccination rates in the US still are not good enough.

Got my first jab about 10 days ago (UK, AZ)

I've had to be really extreme over the last year with staying at home due to caring for someone with health issues. All of a sudden there's a horizon where I can back out in the world in the coming months and I simultaneously want to do everything and nothing when it's time.

It's so weird, I feel like there's a list of places and things I want to go to or do, and I'll probably do it all over summer, but I wonder how much of my time spent at home has been further habit forming. Hopefully not! I think I'll need to pick up an outdoor hobby after all of this.

Don't forget that many people think seasonal influenza deaths are wildly undercounted if we discount underlying conditions and call all flu infections flu deaths.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4349859/

If you ever stop wearing a mask and social distancing, you will kill people. Guaranteed. Enjoy your moral quandary. :-) Remember what you said here and don't be a hypocrite or a flip flopper. Or, is there a number of murders by virus that you don't mind? Something to think about..

And, what about this guy?
https://www.inquirer.com/opinion/commen ... 10425.html

People that might die are probably Republican, so we should ship out all the limited and rare vaccine we can to poor foreign nations? Will the author sacrifice his own one limited precious life or the lives of his loved ones for people in other nations? No.

It's difficult to take his complaint seriously.

No moral quandary here. I can achieve super villain levels of mass chaos and destruction with minimal effort? I guess I'm now da jokah, baby. Damn, my future's looking bright.

As I said, I'm back to the gym soon. I'm not dying early of a heart attack to save mostly older people that already lived a full life. I don't like mortality, but that's something people should take up with God.

The worst was when my state's government went full on paranoid shit-for-brains and even banned outdoor running events last year (not just the marathon, understandably so, but even small ones).

"To protect yourself and grams, you need to stay inside and get as fat as possible watching Netflix!"
^this was treated as a brave and inspiring statement at the time from the city's health director, no joke

Last year kind of feels surreal with how many headless-chicken-running decisions leaders seemed to make.

I had to go into the doctor's office for some regular checkup nonsense a month ago and they weighed me. The winter has not been kind to my waistline.

I'm also pushing exercise starting from today.

This is how I imagine Tucker Carlson's new policy of walking up to strangers and demanding they take off their mask would go:

Allow me to repeat this:: sacrifice yourself or your loved one! Do it! What? You won't do that? It has to be someone else? You got yours, right? We have to be "fair" when it's a stranger? Is that it? (It is! Don't lie. It is.)

Hard to take you seriously, doc. You and your loved ones are vaccinated.

In winter, we are more and more lazy and less mobile. This year I started a wonderful tradition of daily jogging, I have already dropped a couple of kilos, but before getting in good shape, I need to lose about 5-7 more.
