Ghost Squad. Sega’s lesser talked about light gun game

Picked this up for $2 at thrift and it’s definitely worth at least that much lol

I’ve always wanted to play the arcade version but I’ve never seen a cab for it, or the sequel for that matter, in the wild. Unfortunately this is the only entry that made it to the home.

Anyone else ever check this out?

As I seem to say whenever the topic comes up, the gimmicky bosses spoil the game for me - particularly the "one shot headshot or you lose". The rest, unlocking routes with play and classic Virtua Cop/Confidential Mission gunplay, is pretty great. But the bosses require you to be so precise and rigid in how you approach them that they're just not fun.

This right here. That's what's preventing me from fully enjoying the game. And don't get me started on the final boss either. First part requires you to clear the terrorists within a minute, then the boss himself in 30 seconds.

I think it's great. It's a shame the sequel didn't get a port (theres always Teknoparrot).
I like the single shot boss, it's works in terms of pacing. The last boss is a bit of a nightmare though.
It's a game loaded with different pathways, I spent a few weeks last year replaying and unlocking all the different routes. One of Sega's best lightgun games.

I can recognize Ghost Squad is competently made, but I just don't have fun playing it.

I should try playing the Wii version again. I just received the Saturn port of Virtua Cop 2. Didn't try it with the "Stunner" yet, but I was surprised to find out it supports the 3D controller (not the ideal way to play, though).

Not surprised. Feels very much like a "love it or hate it" game

God I loved this game in arcades...
The rifle was so fun to use at the actual machine. I love the stupid plots in Sega light gun games too.

All Sega arcade games have stupid plots lol. It has to be that way or else it’s not a Sega game

When I feel this way about something, I tend to think it's the I who have not one of my best days, then give it two more chances to click with me. Wondering now, how many tongues have equialent of English "third time's the charm" saying? We say "do trzech razy sztuka" 'round here.

Viewtiful Joe alone proved worth observing this policy of mine. As for Ghost Squad, few Matacritic's aggregations say quite as much of its time and age as 69 for Ghost Squad on there. No anime kids - no sell. Is there even a female hostage in this game? Some important man's daughter would fit in, I guess.
