Disk I/o error Neo geo CD

I am using CDR versions of my games and seem to have error using a couple of newer fighting games on the Neo geo CD.

I get the error
DISK I/O
ID = 0003

Is there a way to remove copyright protection so that I can play these games?

The 2 I have problems with so far are

Samurai Shodown 3

Real Bout Fatal Fury Special

I am using a Top loading Neo Geo CD (J) (non CDZ)

Try cleaning, or possibly even adjusting, the lens.
