Who owns the rights to Truxton/Tatsujin?

Post by Docistop1 »

A few friends and I have been wanting to remake Truxton in order to get more familiar with making shmups and games in general. But first we would need the rights. So does anyone know who owns the rights to Truxton and maybe even a few of Toaplan's other games?

Good luck.

Why not make a spiritual successor instead? You know, something that plays like Truxton, feels like Truxton, sounds like Truxton, but it's not the same game? It would serve you and your team as a way to get your feet wet all the same.
Don't hold grudges. GET EVEN.

Now I've got a mental image of Sega's upcoming Yakuza Gaiden: Kamurocho Tiger, in which Kiryu gets caught up in a Japan-wide conspiracy over a mythical unreleased Ghox sequel and does side quests for two dudes dressed in Snow Bros. costumes.

Not a bad premise for a game. It's documented that the yaks were behind all the bootleg boards during he Invader Boom. I'd buy an open world game set in late 70's Tokyo where such a setting was part of a game.

And now I picture Himalayan cattle in shades and dark suits...and even if those were included, it's still be the most grounded, realistic game in the series.

That's probably a much better idea, seeing as we would be able to implement some different gameplay styles if we wanted (such as Gradius-like sidescrolling stages or Thunder Force 2-like overhead free-roaming stages), or add new mechanics such as somewhat controllable options, switching between weapons on demand, or multiplayer co-op.
