Yes, it's a fragment of the perfect game.

It's kind of neat seeing the doomed new excursions into the dead MMO genre. The scam Ashes of Creation, Pantheon that's gonna turn out better than Vanguard somehow because reasons. The sad fan hype of trying to go back to the past for the first time again.

Let's keep making the exact same game that already exists and still receives updates. It is a winning strategy.

funny thing is that the new, "modern" runescape started dying due to microtransactions and pay2win
so they re-released the 2007 backup someone found and now it has way more players than runescape 3 (and still without mtx, unless you count being able to buy membership for other players so some can pay extra for ingame cash while poor players can use ingame money to buy those membership days)

Played this back in 2005-6 and it's how I know I shouldn't ever touch an mmo again.
Christ, I still miss it sometimes. Isn't that weird, faded memories of an almost living world I'm exiled from.
Fuck paying for it, though. It's a good thing I can't remember my password and failed to get back into the account years ago
