They remind me of the lot numbers in that trailer park in FWWM.

The font used for the 15 and 3 remind me a lot of the "6" telephone pole in the Fat Trout Trailer Park from FWWM. I think the simplest explanation is that they represent different electrical destinations - in this case "15" being the cigarette lighter outlet in Evil Coop's car, and "3" being the outlet near Dougie.

From the same place that coop was imaged, Manhattan. Courtesy of that poor couple that was set up to be there. Just a theory.

Don't read if you haven't watched episode 5 yet! I really enjoyed it but...

This felt like a holding pattern episode. Stuff happened, but I don't know what the point of it is in regards to the plot. I'm not even sure there is a plot. It needs to start coming together now, not later. What is going on? Cooper still looks a long way off - how long can this go on for? What is the main thrust of this story?

In the original show we got to know the town of Twin Peaks and it's bonkers characters with Cooper, who was also a bit odd himself. Sheriff Truman grounded everything and at it's centre was a traditional murder mystery.

In that sense this new season has little relation to why the original show worked. It's on an entirely different level and so far it's Twin Peaks in name only. I can see why some are loving it as it's pure Lynch, but it's too disjointed. Maybe as an 18 hour film it will work. Lynch could have taken most of what has happened so far and made a completely unconnected film.

That's my general feeling about what is happening - I don't really care about about it. However, I really enjoyed episode 5 because there were a lot of enjoyable scenes. In fact, there was probably more of the original cast in this episode than the others - I thought Jakoby as the night time jock was great, as were the gold shovels. Loads of great moments, but again I wish they just meant more to the story rather than feeling like cute diversions.

Roll on episode 6.

I have a couple of friends who are similarly annoyed with the disjointed nature of the five episodes that we have available to us so far, but I just can't personally relate--I forfeited even trying to "figure out" David Lynch's work a long time ago, and I tend to enjoy it a lot more that way. Sure Twin Peaks S1&2 made a bit more "normal" sense on average, but even then you had scenes like Josie becoming a wooden drawer knob. I've just been letting these new episodes wash over me, and I've loved every moment of them. Everyone seems to really be waiting for the moment that Coop "wakes up" but I'm prepared for Lynch to ride the sheer ridiculousness of him bumbling around brain dead while normal consequence life goes on all around him for the remaining 13 hours at this point.

Can we just reflect on the coexistence of braindead Coop guzzling down Frank's coffee while he reluctantly tries the green tea latte, Becky's cocaine hit kicking in in the passenger seat, Dr. Amp's Gold Shit-Digging Shovel, and Richard Horne's "I'm going to laugh when I fuck you" in the same hour of television?

Yeah, I don't care about it making any sense, or about any kind of plot, or story, or progression. I just take in the amazing atmosphere, the great acting, and the moments of hilarity.

Interesting indeed.

I'm going to side more w/ Necronopticous here. When I heard Lynch was doing all 18 episodes I knew there would be parts that play out in seemingly nonsensical sequences. For as little as they have to do with each other, they are enjoyable.

Gotta order one of those shovels!

I forgot that The Man From Another Place was actually The Arm, and that The Evolution of the Arm is him... and that's all we'll get of him. The actor hates Lynch apparently. Bummer.

Loved episode 5.

The mirror scene with Mr C transforming to Bob after the flashback to the season 2 final was really creepy
The 15/3 sign from the exit of The Black Lodge, was it the Great Northern room key number all along?
Seeing Nadine Hurley again was great - I wonder if she's still in the same state as in Season 2?
Mr C hacking the prison phone line was pretty trippy too.

Still nowhere near cohesively tying things up, but I feel we got a lot in episode 6. Ending with a strong musical performance (from someone I was totally unfamiliar with), and I will rank that as up there with the premiere. Gonna be a long week until 7.

Naomi Watts owns every scene she's in. And that wee assassin, when his pick broke, me and my wife looked at each other and went "naaw". Hawk's scene reminded me of Amelie, up until that douch of a deputy turned up. He needs to end up with someone like Windom Earle, having a crossbow turned on him.

I've made my way to episode 11 of the second season (aka the introduction of David Duchovny's DEA Agent). Things haven't gotten rough yet; I was bracing for a lot worse. I suspect a few plots are going to get pretty lame (Josie = hot but boring; Little Nicky... bleh). But it at least still feels like things are happening every episode since the Laura case wrapped up.

I am really stoked to see the new series, but I guess i will still have to watch Fire Walk with Me before then.

The new series feels more like a continuation of the film than of the first two seasons. So you've guessed right, all right.

Great to see Harry Dean Stanton. That whole scene with him watching the kid and mum play then... was very powerful. The mini spike killer was nuts. We are still all over the place but this episode held together much more cohesively than the last few episodes.

Ok episode 7, don't read if you've not seen it.

Shit is coming together. It felt much more Twin Peaks, probably because so much of the episode was set there.

Loved all the Laura diary stuff, Dougie kicking into agent mode for a fight. Wow. If he's seen in a newspaper or tv report how long can it be before he's spotted by the FBI.

The Diane confrontation with evil Coop was great. Something must have happened between them, but I couldn't figure out if it was before Coop got to Twin Peaks or if evil Coop had seen her in between season 2 and 3.

Also, Ashley Judd... How can Horne resist. Mother fuck. Weird creepy noise in the wood room with Coop's Great Northern key. Is Josie still in the wood?

The scene with the agent calling her boss with the black shape appearing behind her was fantastic - the audio!

This episode started to draw things together, thank Lynch. Ok, we still have Dougie, but there's progress here. Probably the best episode since the opening.

Indeed, the short hitman didn't stand much of a chance, and with the evolution of the arm to assist Cooper his tiny hand had to smart after that showdown. Loved the interrogation of Dougie too with his excellent wife sorting everything out! lol

Maybe he went to her right after visiting the comatose Audrey Horne in the emergency ward. That's creepy as hell, especially if he has fathered a hit'n run son by her. Who was the guy who greeted the FBI at Diane's apartment?
dan76 wrote:Also, Ashley Judd... How can Horne resist. Mother fuck. Weird creepy noise in the wood room with Coop's Great Northern key. Is Josie still in the wood?
When Horne mentioned what'd happened in room 315, my wife asked me who had shot Cooper as she had forgotten. I think Josie was the faceless woman inside the black lodge. She was a host for BOB in the end, right? I think she might be lurking inside the wooden walls, yes.
dan76 wrote:The scene with the agent calling her boss with the black shape appearing behind her was fantastic - the audio!
Pretty sure nobody could see "it", and it was probably the same as in the adjacent cell to where the principle was held. The head found with Briggs' body was shot in the eye, just like the principle's wife when she was offed by Mr. C. This points to him being responsible for the whole thing, but is Briggs still around somehow? His floating head inside the black lodge tells me at least that we've not seen the last of him.

Agree, great fan service perfectly weaved into the new stuff. I wonder if we'll get to know anything more about the three dog legs, Mr Strawberry and how Andy has a Rolex watch?

The series is definitely getting more interesting as it goes on. Episode 6 was absolutely brutal at parts and really caught me off guard. Looking forward to Episode 7--I'll have to check it out tomorrow or the next day.

Poor Diane. I was thinking maybe she's the one who knows the most of the whole thing after Coop himself, if he sent her some final log tapes before he went 'missing'.

I had to wait two fucking days to watch this.. .finally got around to it. 7 was probably as strong as 6... at least in similar vein. Pure greatness. Not only how does Andy have a Rolex, but how does a former secretary (?) at the FBI have so much mid-century furniture in a New York apartment?

I had a long flight yesterday, and someone at work sent me a walk through, which I didn't read. He said basically all reviews of episode 7 recommended reading The Secret History of Twin Peaks. I bought and blew through most of it in the one day (3.5 hour delay in the airport, then 3.5 or so hours in flight). Pretty fun stuff, and does give you some insight into some characters, but not as many as you'd think. Glad I read it though.

I started to listen to "A Twin Peaks Podcast: A Podcast About Twin Peaks" today. It's some TV critics/fans of Twin Peaks running it, and they're very enthusiastic when discussing every new episode in detail. I'm at the point now that I need something while waiting for the next episode, and this has been a fun day at work today, listening to the podcast.

yeah -- someone on /r/TwinPeaks said "this has basically ruined TV for me...".

Hardest thing about this is the last 2 weeks (3 episodes) will air while I'm out in the desert... guess I'll have something to look forward to when I return.

Don't forget there's a weeks break after the next episode for July 4th. I'm not going to be able to watch Sundays episode until the middle of next week, so that might make the wait easier.

Trying not to spoil myself!

I might have jumped the gun, but I ordered the Complete Mystery set for what seemed like a deal at $50. It was mostly to get Missing Pieces and Fire Walk with Me while I plow through Season 2 of the show. I have a premonition (dream?) of S1, 2, and 3 being released as one super box set, but I told myself that you can't have any idea as to when they'll actually put together a really nice complete "set", so might as well get what's best right now, and maybe sell later.

The family and I are working on finishing s2. I think we just watched what might be the worst episode, Slaves and Masters (ep 16 or 17). AKA, an episode almost totally about James. Good lord. I hope that that is the end of the so-called "bad stretch" of episodes. Which most weren't that bad, to be honest. Some, like the episode where Leo goes into slasher bad-guy mode, was really fun. But the James scenes man. They are soooo fucking bad! At least he will be written out of the show, apparently, by next episode. I wanna catch up so I can wait in anticipation with everyone else, lol.

Well, 21 and 22 are great. I believe 19 and 20 probably at least good... not sure about 17 and 18 though.. you might have a shit ball or two to get through. :)
$50 for the set sounds good.

Fire Walk With Me is really important, as there are many things in Season 3 referring to stuff happening in the feature film.

Get the Q2 edit after you've seen Fire Walk With me. Better to skip the missing pieces really and just see them inserted into the original movie. I still can't help but laugh at the good/real cooper and his repeating things people say. So silly, but it fits somehow into the new season.
