Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuudddddddddeeeeeeeeeeee

This game is the coolest shit I've played in a very long time.
I've only played the first two stages and I am just amazed.

Big thanks to Necronopticous because I might not have discovered this game for a while if it wasn't for this thread.
I am so happy that this game exists and I can enjoy it as my very first PS4 game.

It screams Beyond the Black Rainbow X Amplitude X Rez.... sublime.

Thanks for the heads up on this game. Got a PS4 a while ago and picked this up on friday.

PLAY+ mode is amazing, feels like a solid arcade game. The rank system and work you need to put in to get your armor back adds so much. Enjoying it a lot more than my first playthrough of the normal mode. Almost cleared 6+ today, things get scary..
If anyone wants to compete on friends leaderboard w/ mediocre scores feel free to add on PSN: xaerock

Thumper is somehow physically exhausting even with the simple control layout, haven't experienced that in a while. Somehow the music & theme fit the gameplay really well in making you focus.

Sounds good, I'm a bit chilled by that price tag though, $20.
Was it ever on sales ?

It was my GOTY last year. $20 is an absolute steal in my opinion.

I'll second that!
Not my GOTY (but a runner up for sure).

And though not required... PSVR is the best way to experience this game! :!: :D

It was a couple bucks off on Steam just this past week, though it's back up to 20 now.

The game is on easter sale for 12€, on EU PSN at least.
I'll definitely get it now.

Not on sale in the US. There is Flash sale (and Thumper is not one of the things on sale), but there isn't even a proper Easter sale in the US. Lame.

Just catching up on this one (on Oculus Go, of all platforms.) works surprisingly well for a VR game...

It's an incredible video game and you should all be ashamed of yourselves for not playing it in 2016.

Was always a bit hesitant to pull the trigger on this one, but it's currently on sale for five bucks, so I figured I might as well sate my curiosity; early impressions are good, though I'm honestly most surprised of all that the thing runs pretty well on my non-gaming laptop. That being said, I'm tempted to say that my initial caveats are at least partially attributable to my hardware; the horizon can be a bit tough to make out at times on a relatively small screen, and the beat can be difficult to hear over the fan whirring like crazy.

Need to give this more time, but it's one game that's incredibly difficult to go back to playing on a TV once you've spent an hour or two in VR.

Bought it on steam for 5 bucks - this game is insane. Playing it in VR and I am blown away. Incredible experience.

And I just read in this thread that I could play with my Arcade Stick... I thinkt that's exactly what I'm going to do in this game. Just the thought of playing it with stick arouses me. :-D

I will double dip with this game and also get it for my Oculus Go portable VR headset, as soon as Controller support will be added. This should supposedly happen this week, according to the devs. Then it's time to mod one of my sticks to bluetooth... :-D

Gamepad-Controlls have been added to Thumper on the Oculus Go.

And the Game on the Oculus Go is the real deal! It's got the speed and the feeling of the PC-VR version, with a little bit more aliasing. But it 100% feels and plays like Thumper on the "big" systems.

I'm amazed at how well this game runs in VR on the Snapdragon 821 SoC of the Go!

It will probably be a while. They worked on Thumper for many years to get it to the level of polish that it is at today. In the meantime, have you gotten all the S Ranks yet? :)

Show of hands, who here thinks the curators at GOG turned this game down for being "too niche" then chose another teenage lesbian romance visual novel instead?
Two working class dudes, one black one white, just baked a tray of ten cookies together.

An oligarch walks in and grabs nine cookies for himself.

Then he says to the white dude "Watch out for that black dude, he wants a piece of your cookie!"

Need to go back to this. Played it for a while upon release, borrowed a PSVR and it blew me away. Then I bought my own VR and promptly forgot about it.

Great game, and does a great job at visualizing the anxiety of playing a rhythm action game.

I might be wrong, but a quick flick through the thread suggests that no one has mentioned the soundtrack and half of the game design was done by Brian Gibson of Lightning Bolt, who are one of my all time favorite bands. Here they are at their prime: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_Kh4bxP09E
