No of course I have absolute faith in this government to feed the poor to the wealthy. They spent trillions just to bump the line up a bit so the stragglers could sell for some cash, and then buyback their bitcoins later for an enormous profit when they hit rock bottom. All that money so they could short stocks, at a snap of their fingers smh

This government is completely different from a hypothetical future government that doesn't protect profiteering and insurance companies. The kinds of people writing the checks for those guys would fundamentally differ from those writing'em for these guys. Incentive structures, man.

Thbbbt! What insult? I never trusted that fascist-hugging torture apologist. So she made a vague gesture of support for Bernie in 2016, while being primaried from the left, by quitting a powerless ceremonial position, whoop-dee-doo! If she didn't have a pretty face she would have never gotten a following from the most gullible parts of the left.

But one has to ask, if Tulsi was a Russian asset, and has endorsed Biden, does that make Biden a Russian asset by association?

I never bought the whole "Tulsi is a Russian asset" bullshit. Just a conservative cosplaying as a progressive. Hillary Clinton smearing her was the biggest shot-in-the-arm Tulsi could have asked for at the time.

"Fascist-hugging torture apologist" is a pretty good summation of the entire democratic party.

Lipinski's out, but it's really way too little overall.

Man, lots of people have said for years that the 1976 film "Network" was prophetic for the media environment we're trapped in today.

But when I think of all those elderly people shuffling to their dooms in Covid-19-infected polling locations to vote for a clearly senile candidate because their televisions told them to; the film that truly predicted this moment was Cronenberg's "Videodrome."

Long live the new flesh!

President Trump is firing the intelligence community inspector general whose insistence on telling lawmakers about a whistle-blower complaint about his dealings with Ukraine triggered impeachment proceedings last fall, the president told lawmakers in a letter late Friday.

The move came as Mr. Trump announced his intent to name a White House aide as the independent watchdog for $500 billion in corporate pandemic aid and notified Congress of other nominees to inspector general positions, including one that would effectively oust the newly named chairman of a panel to oversee how the government spends $2 trillion in coronavirus relief.

The slew of late-night announcements, coming as the world’s attention is gripped by the coronavirus pandemic, raised the specter of a White House power play over the community of inspectors general, independent officials whose mission is to root out waste, fraud and abuse within the government.

A quick refresher of the situation we continue to find ourselves in.

Don't worry, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and especially Joe Biden are going to save us!

It only looks like they get their asses kicked on our behalf over and over again. They're experts at 17-dimensional chess, you see. Playing a long game that'll totally pay off at some hazy point in the far distant future.

Whatever you do, don't vote for the guy who actually squeezes concessions out of Republicans and whose policies seem to meet the most pressing national needs at the moment. That wouldn't be sensible! Plus you wouldn't want people to think you're some kind of a bro, would you?

Trump's going to cruise to reelection from his one time payment of $1,200. (Which is somehow Totally Not Socialist. .. and it doesn't matter who is in power - the party in the big boy chair is always supposed to do the bare minimum to quell unrest.)

The Biden finger rape stuff is going to be a big deal when November draws close. Try to act surprised when it happens - the worst thing about the internet is you get to read the TV scripts ahead of time. Spoilers ruin all the fun of novelty and exploration.

Woulda-been Flordia Governor Gillum was found in a room with two dudes high on meth, some kinda meth orgy. It's a cliche that almost everyone in politics is some kind of sexual deviant for a reason. Makes sense though - why would you willingly choose to lick so much boot and become a glorified beggar for decades unless there was an exclusive reward at the end of it all?

The Schumer tactic has been astonishingly effective - their tactic of campaigning to republicans has gotten them a ton of support of upper class tone police voters from major cities in states that are D in the electoral college. Those are useful people to have around in a primary.

The possibility of them having Biden step down for his VP to run isn't completely zero. Girl Trump, which is what their base wants, would be Amy. But if they put up Cuomo or something instead, that would be the most perfect Democrat losing strategy in the world... but I still think trying to maintain kayfabe with Biden the entire time is the most efficient path to failure for them. Not that anything matters in the wrestling arena this time. Cause, 1200.

$1,200 sure is a hell of a lot more than we're used to seeing from our country. Nobody will realize this is overwhelmingly meant as a payment to rent collectors - humans are very simple and strange animals..

So, it's official: the Democratic Party wants Trump to be re-elected in 2020. They're repeating history, doing the exact same thing in 2016 where they prop up their preferred establishment candidate to win the nomination despite the fact that the candidate winning the nomination is a spoiler candidate in their own election and are unable to win in the actual election against Trump. Exact same situation played out with Clinton in 2016, proving they've learned absolutely nothing from their mistakes: https://rangevoting.org/USA2016retro.html

Sanders was shown to have wild popularity compared to Trump and would've beaten Trump resoundingly had Sanders been the nominee. Due to failures in America's plurality election system, fears of spoiler candidates and vote splitting result in people shying away from the person who's consistently been right on issues over the course of decades in favour of a guy who's consistently been shown to be on the wrong side of issues repeatedly, who didn't raise alarm at the election situation in Wisconsin (whereas Sanders did) and who is raising serious concerns about his fitness for the position of president based on his interviews, but hey, someone once made him Vice President, he can't be all that bad, right?

I talked about this earlier, but if Sanders was the nominee the campaign on TV against him would have ratcheted up to beyond Corbyn levels of hysteria. Boomers would have been mobilized to turn out in record numbers against their children.

Also: the $1,200.

I'm going through Labyrinth of Refrain right now. It's a nice change of pace from all the minimum effort, 10 minute max play cycle, FOMO'em Up stuff that's the trend these days.

Slowly building your party size up to the maximum of a 15-man raid party with like 20 supporters really helps this kind of game scale during the later half - usually Dungeon Crawl'em Ups tend to drag at the halfway mark. The large party size also fits the mood better - you're always fighting these giant horrific monsters that are too big to fit on the screen by the end of these games, it's dumb only doing it with ~5 guys. Breaks verisimilitude.

Being able to see and avoid/seek out encounters is a big plus too. Being able to break through walls is still cathartic, even though I know it's really just an illusion most of the time - just a theme for using secret doors.

On the story side, I always liked how all the people you meet in the mazes in this genre are almost always doomed. I know it's mainly so they don't have to draw art for them, and cut off fat that would bloat the cast, but it's still grimdark.

Only liberals obsess over their parasocial relationships with their favorite actor on TV. What's the difference between eating shit for 55 years and eating shit for 59 years, really? Nothing was lost. It's just business as usual.

I told ya they wouldn't allow him to be the nominee. Was neat seeing the second place guy drop out and endorse the fourth place dude before Super Tuesday. A historical first. Very cool.

...It does feel like shit reading accounts by rape victims about how they're being pressured to vote for Biden. Won't lie about that.

While I agree, it was never going to happen. The DNC put out all stops to prevent him, and the numbers in the south didn't lie, sadly. Bernie's supporters just didn't turn out.

It's almost like Twitter polls and hashtags aren't reflective of reality.

The DNC don't deserve anything at the moment, they've been thoroughly, unreservedly awful since the day Trump won. Look at all that wasted time banging the Russia drum, fielding awful candidates, the impeachment fiasco etc, it makes them look like bitter losers, pretty hard to get people enthused by that. They're likely to learn the lesson Labour in the UK were recently taught. Nobody wants to hear how awful and existentially threatening the alternative "is", they want to hear how you plan to improve their lives. People also find it hard to back someone who appears to be mostly supported by horrible, miserably angry people, no matter how positive their message may be. Looking at the worst excesses of the Bernie bros there, same as the worst excesses of UK Labour and equally as damaging.

I'm hoping this decade proves to be a watershed moment for screeching, bullying, judgemental activists.

I also didn't get the impeachment manoeuvre. Why sink all that time and money and energy into something you're sure to loose? That was beyond lame

I've said it on here before, but for all the errors, forced and unforced, that the Dems committed during those proceedings, and the fact that they weren't going to pick up a single voter either way because Trump's base doesn't care in the least how corrupt or inept he is, I would have been far more critical of them if they hadn't bothered to at least say "we can't seriously just act like nothing this guy does, along with his party, will ever be bad enough to actually get us to react beyond finger-wagging (censure very much included)". The main legitimate complaint, at least in my view, that the Dems get is that they're too content to sit and get kicked in the teeth in the name of "bipartisanship" while their thoroughly and unapologetically scorched-earth opposition basically runs rampant; hell, the main reason the trial went the way it did is that Trump completely stonewalled any and all information requests from Congress to an extent neither Nixon nor Clinton would have dared, in large part because this time his party rallied in lock step to his side as he did so, ramifications be damned.

As I asked the last time this came up - and, if memory serves, never got a response - if they weren't going to impeach in the face of Trump's actions, what should they have done, and what would the consequences been for that course of action? And "at least they wouldn't look like such neeerrrrds" doesn't count.

Yeah but what's the point of valiant efforts/showing your virtue if it nets you zero gain? zilch? nada? to help you reach your objective

would a battalion ever send troops somewhere that didn't help them in any way to advance toward their objective? wasting resources and man/hours in the process?

complete waste of your time and energy, and thus those are better spent elsewhere.

but as System11 pointed out, it's just one of many things the party mishandled. They need to approach things differently

Have you seen this?

Quote:
A leaked report, seen by Novara Media, reveals the extent to which senior Labour figures sought to undermine their own party’s chances in the 2017 general election.

[...]

For many what will make this material all the more appalling is that Labour was less than 2,500 votes away from forming a government in 2017, after winning 40% of the popular vote – the party’s best results since 1997.

Incidentally, fuck Liz Warren and her Super Tuesday Super PAC.

Said this before, the youth vote was up, the boomer vote was up even more. "Russia Russia Russia" whipped them up good.

Note how Bloomberg and Ross Perot were able to be viable off the back of tv ads alone. Sigh.

As always, change only ever comes from technology forcing it, and/or whenever the fascists burn everything down with their staunch allies the liberals. As long as TV continues to have this much power to create reality from fantasy.

If you told me 15 months ago that I'd walk away from this primary with a higher opinion of Marianne Williamson than Liz Warren, I'd have called you a crazy person. But here we are.

I did not expect her to commit career suicide over a couple snake emojis. I mean she had to know she was persona-non-grata on Wall Street and the only job available to her in a hypothetical Biden White House would be "tour guide," right? Was Bloomberg paying off one of her consultants to dose her morning coffee with LSD? It would certainly explain Big Structural Bailey:
