I think it's fair for people to ask why that's a thing that's apparently been going on for years with zero public awareness. But on the whole it's been a couple of pretty slow news weeks for politics after the constant hysteria of the past few years. The biggest stories have been congressional republicans doing things that tick off their own base, who have been getting tired of the circus with no results for a while now and are not staying quiet about it. Of all the Weakling Dictator Biden stuff the Rs have come up with lately, this is the thing that got the most traction with the Fox/Breitbart crowd. It's either this or Satanic Panic celebrities, which only plays to a portion of the audience.

If we could get candidates who wanted a higher minimum wage, or to start enforcing antitrust laws, or to improve union rights, then in a fair contest they'd have a great shot at winning.
