I had so many dreadful laughs in 2020, at the sadly prevailing wisdom of "It's just property, they have insurance!" Fond memories of 2004, enjoying a beer on the fucked back porch of my 90yo great-aunt's obliterated house with her auditor, a fellow Angloid who'd flown in from Bermuda to help out his Ivan-swamped colleagues. Nice chap - advised that while everything was in order, she'd almost certainly get hosed, due to the property being technically unoccupied (she was living with her kids next door, as in "adjoining garage" next door). Said we should expect to cockslap the fuckers in court to see anything. They did cough up - officially as a goodwill gesture, possibly because on homie's advice, we promptly informed them of the Gynougesque intrusion we were eminently well-situated to visit upon their choco starfish.

This brazen fuckery entertained when dealing with a wealthy, well-established local family. I can imagine what random impoverished single black moms faced, stateside. 3;

The rich tech industry wants legal prostitution in San Francisco. Well, here's a counterprosal. Let's tax the billionaires, make a coherent border policy (to stop trafficking and accommodate my next proposal), add a minimum national income, assure affordable housing, and then we can give you legal prostitution. Oops. Prices just shot up and there's a lot less meat!

Don't fucking blow smoke up my ass. It's not a case of people driving to San Francisco from LA and invading your perfect community to find a whore. Supply happens where there is demand.

What do you all think the truth is behind that silly chinese balloon nonsense? Is it being used to distract from the recent disaster in East Palestine, Ohio? (And right after congress sided with railroad owners on allowing lower safety standards! Oops!) Are we going to be shooting down "chinese" and "russian" aircraft regularly from now on to keep the populace paranoid and keep the war budget rising?

I think it's fair for people to ask why that's a thing that's apparently been going on for years with zero public awareness. But on the whole it's been a couple of pretty slow news weeks for politics after the constant hysteria of the past few years. The biggest stories have been congressional republicans doing things that tick off their own base, who have been getting tired of the circus with no results for a while now and are not staying quiet about it. Of all the Weakling Dictator Biden stuff the Rs have come up with lately, this is the thing that got the most traction with the Fox/Breitbart crowd. It's either this or Satanic Panic celebrities, which only plays to a portion of the audience.

It really reminds me of that time CNN spent three weeks looking for a missing plane and saturated the airwaves with wild speculative supernatural bullshit, giving the families of the dead very false hope the entire time.

... which in turn reminds me of that episode of Anderson's talk show where he invited some weirdos who like to collect serial killer memorabilia on to throw rocks at them. When one of them tried to point out the obvious fact that Anderson and the news ghouls profit a lot off of massive suffering, the audience boo'd him.

TV really is a better form of control than the church. Before TV, Biden would have a primary to win starting this year, but since the TV says there isn't a primary, there isn't. And there's absolutely no reason they couldn't do the same thing even if there wasn't a sitting president.

I really, really don't like TV bullshit and would like to ignore it. And political talk on the internet is saturated with it, it takes 2 seconds to see if someone hasn't ever put a single critical thought into anything and are just parroting slogans, new stories, and thought terminating cliches that make them feel good about themselves.

So for this week's story: the E5 bros got some mainstream press in the guardian. Absolutely nothing changed the day before and after this was published, but doesn't it just feel like it's more authentic and plausible all of a sudden? The kooky old biologist and his filtered pig plasma?

A little more interesting than a stupid ass balloon. And a little better kind of false hope than saying dead people might have been abducted by aliens.

Fuckin' CNN.... Authoritative news fucks.......

I find it hard to care and am far more interested in the psyop than the balloons themselves. What are the Chinese going to learn from a balloon that they wouldn't learn from their satellites? Precisely nothing. They will learn jack shit. They aren't gonna nuke us, behind the kayfabe, the Chinese and American ruling classes are happily in love.

I find it much more interesting to look at how biden and congress, including the squad, voted to make it illegal for railroad workers to not come into work, so that the business owners wouldn't have to spend more on higher safety standards, and then not long afterwards, there was an extremely disastrous accident. Who knows how many people will lose decades of their lives thanks to all the poisonous chemicals they released into the air.

Looks like there was another serious train accident just in the last day or so. One thing's for sure, whoever is the current secretary of transportation must be a real worthless shithead.

The Hill wrote:The Trump administration on Monday [2018] repealed a mandate that would have required trains carrying crude oil to use special brakes with new technology.

[...]

The mandate to phase out traditional air brakes for crude oil use was part of a comprehensive rule that the Obama administration wrote in 2015 to try to improve the safety of crude oil trains.

Transporting crude oil by rail has increased dramatically in recent years due to a boost in domestic and Canadian oil production. But with the increased traffic have come major crashes and explosions, like one in 2013 in Lac-Megantic, Quebec, that killed 47, one in 2013 in North Dakota and one in Oregon in 2016.

[...]

The rule was mainly meant to implement a new design for tank cars that carry crude, with new requirements for metal thickness and fire protection. The brake mandate and speed limits were also in the new regulation.

The brake requirement was a top target for the railroad and oil industries in pushing back against parts of the 2015 rule.

AP News wrote:An Associated Press review of the department’s rulemaking activities in Trump’s first year in office shows at least a dozen safety rules that were under development or already adopted have been repealed, withdrawn, delayed or put on the back burner. In most cases, those rules are opposed by powerful industries. And the political appointees running the agencies that write the rules often come from the industries they regulate.

Meanwhile, there have been no significant new safety rules adopted over the same period.

The sidelined rules would have, among other things, [...] railroads to operate trains with at least two crew members [...] Many of the rules were prompted by tragic events.

[...]

Trump has made reducing regulations a priority, seeing many rules as an unnecessary burden on industry. Last month he tweeted that his administration “has terminated more UNNECESSARY Regulations, in just 12 months, than any other Administration has terminated during their full term in office...”

“The good news is,” he wrote, “THERE IS MUCH MORE TO COME!”

We already all know that the republicans are part of the problem and have been for probably a good century now. Anyone who gives a shit about eg. union rights probably isn't voting for McConnell or Trump. The reason why the working class can't gain even an inch of ground despite widespread popular support is because we have an openly anti-worker party and a fake pro-worker party, and the latter is the bigger problem. If we could get candidates who wanted a higher minimum wage, or to start enforcing antitrust laws, or to improve union rights, then in a fair contest they'd have a great shot at winning. The reason that can't happen is because everyone who wants that goes over to the fake worker party where they are blatantly sabotaged. It is vastly more productive to focus on the democrats' failing than the republicans'.

Not that we should ignore the bad shit the republicans are always doing of course, but it is vital that we not do so for the democrats.

Oh man...here we go.
The Guardian wrote:A team of Israeli contractors who claim to have manipulated more than 30 elections around the world using hacking, sabotage and automated disinformation on social media has been exposed in a new investigation.

Hanan told the undercover reporters that his services, which others describe as “black ops”, were available to intelligence agencies, political campaigns and private companies that wanted to secretly manipulate public opinion. He said they had been used across Africa, South and Central America, the US and Europe.
The article says they claim to stay out of US politics, and all the traces of activity they found in the states were related to commercial disputes. And that they were frequent collaborators with Cambridge Analytica.

So let's just agree to agree that this guy hooked up with Hunter at a satanic orgy in Jerusalem under his swinger name Jorge Chavez, and they whipped the login password out of their gimp Willy Dominion together. If there's no truth to it, then why is everybody* saying it?

Most important part of the article:
One of Team Jorge’s key services is a sophisticated software package, Advanced Impact Media Solutions, or Aims.

I mean, they are professionally untrustworthy for a living. Here's the reason why I believe them on that front though:
The Team Jorge revelations could cause embarrassment for Israel, which has come under growing diplomatic pressure in recent years over its export of cyber-weaponry that undermines democracy and human rights.

Hanan appears to have run at least some of his disinformation operations through an Israeli company, Demoman International, which is registered on a website run by the Israeli Ministry of Defense to promote defence exports. The Israeli MoD did not respond to requests for comment.
It would be some serious biting-the-senate-appropriations-bill-that-feeds-you stuff.

The Obama administration caved to them already, downgrading the brake requirement to only oil after being told to. It wouldn't have applied to this disaster... the liberal meme of claiming or passively implying something would have done something is a sneaky one indeed. Makes it impossible to tell when something actually woulda done something. I guess destroying trust for a type of politics entirely based upon it, is a necessary strategy of the Washington Generals..

Train derailments are a regular feature on the Well There's Your Problem podcast. (And this one is definitely going to feature in an episode a year or two from now, once all the fallout and fuckery is clearly documented.) One of the more gruesome ones just cleaved right through the middle of a town; the guy wasn't able to set the parking breaks or something. The rail line was designed basically like a gun or slingshot pointing right into the town, just this long straight stretch pointing right at it until it jack-knifed to the right hard.

The first time something happens, it's a tragedy. The second time something happens, it's cause for alarm. The six thousandth time, it's a farce. The terminal irony poisoning is strong with me - if we're powerless to change anything, and if we're cool with intentionally engineering things to be unsafe in known and preventable ways, you can only find it funny.

Anger can only burn for so long. And apathy means you don't give a fucking shit.

I mean, this is a generic PR tactic across a whole lot of fields.

"This ordinary fluctuation in job numbers is proof that if only the radical left hadn't passed these socialist policies, the economy would have been stimulated and we'd all be rich forever and ever by now."

"If only we hadn't taken the Bible out of physics class, generic female rapper X would never have said that naughty word on TV."

"If only it weren't for all this bureaucratic red tape, we wouldn't have had to liquidate your company's assets so I could get a new yacht."

"If only Trump had been president, Putin would never have dared to attack Ukraine! Even though they totally had it coming."

"If only our fans and the media would stop complaining Axel wouldn't have had to rush Chinese Democracy and this tragedy could have been averted."

Speaking of crazy lies...

Right? WTF?

With the entirety of its forces bogged down and struggling in Ukraine, the logical, tactical move for Russia right now is to bring the world's most powerful military directly into the war by committing terrorist attacks on civilian targets in the continental US. Come on people, this is Sun Tzu 101.

Why is the entire media afraid to talk about this?

The USA absolutely did destroy the Russian pipeline and anyone who seriously believes it was a false flag attack the Russians made against themselves is an NPC. I don't like saying stuff like that, but in this case it's simply the truth. The fact that a bunch of white house spooks got together to claim that journalist Seymour Hersh's explanation of what happened "has all the earmarks of Russian disinformation" is enough to tell me that his explanation is dead on accurate. Article here for anyone interested.

Obviously Trump Jr blaming the train wrecks on Russia is very stupid too. Turning a small town in Ohio into a new Chernobyl Exclusion Zone does not serve Russian strategic interests, while destroying the pipeline is beneficial to the USA even setting aside the Ukraine conflict.
