That was uncalled for, Rob. Even more when FinalBaton or myself weren't even addressing you at all.

I'll have to borrow BulletMagnet's schtick and encourage you to troll harder, though. Need to make sure that copy of Mein Kampf is worth the money you paid for it.

I really don't want to make assumptions about people.... but a lot of this thread indicates that Mischief Maker and BryanM have been sort of radicalized by personal experiences in their life and may have trouble being objective. It's either that or they're Creative Writing majors using a video game forum as practice. I really think you can be a liberal without spouting conspiracy theories and mistakes regarding correlation/causation. I'm sure you're both good guys but this is all a little too much.

I'm not a liberal. At no point in my life have I ever voted in favor of laissez-faire capitalism and wars of capital acquisition for the few.

And where is the conspiracy theory here, exactly?

A corporation's best paid employees and owners gives a politician millions of dollars of campaign contributions and PAC cash. Entire organizations (they're called "think tanks") are created with the sole purpose of managing public opinion. Media outlets owned by billionaires, hosted by millionaires, give these politicians billions of dollars of advertising. When out of office, these politicians are paid millions of dollars through fake jobs and 15 minute "speeches". Their friends, family and staff are given similar treatment. (NBC giving Chelsea Clinton $26,724 per minute she appeared on the network was a gas.)

Who do these politicians represent?

This isn't rocket science man. Nor is it a "conspiracy theory", it's a raw fact of reality everyone knows.

Please go ahead and point out where I'm not being "objective" when I assert anyone who wins a D or R nomination can potentially be president? Remember I told you that Trump's odds were slightly higher than a coin flip after Clinton won the nomination back in 2016. While the TV had everyone brainwashed into repeating "he can't win" like a mindless parrot.

Why do "democratic socialists" want the same thing as Koch Network libertarians and ancaps? When you are fighting ideological battles for your ideological opponents... you'd think that a bulb would flicker on at some point. Or it is just that "racial justice" is the core and everything else is a distant second or a fashionable accessory (faux-environmentalism), with "racial justice" aligning perfectly with the desires of global capital.

Well if you don't have an entire labor force exempt from minimum wage, workplace safety, healthcare, and other rights because they've been declared "illegal," management won't have the option to undercut union labor that way anymore.

Racism has always been a divide-and-conquer strategy against the working class, all the way back to the invention of "the white race" in the 1670s.

I think abortion-on-demand, state-subsidized contraception, comprehensive sex education, and free-at-the-point-of-service healthcare would do a hell of a lot more for controlling the population.

Take it from Christopher Hitchens.

Candid question here: Has any member of the Dem party actually said they want open borders? Or anything that strongly implies so? Outside of the accusations from the right, I can't find much.

An unlimited supply of labor is good for the American worker, as long as the unlimited labor has the same rights and privileges as actual American citizens - the only thing they had in their favor? I'm kinda thunderstruck that this argument is being made. Maybe send a sample of your writing and a resume to the Cato Institute.

H-1B Visas Keep Down U.S. Tech Wages, Study Shows

What can we learn from the perfectly legal H1Bs and wages above the minimum? Is it good for the American worker to be replaced by foreigners who will take less pay? Maybe if we remove all of the pesky red tape, drop the pretense of hiring American workers first and place no limits on the amount of foreign workers that can be brought in...

And this is just looking at things from an economic point of view. We can see the cultural and political disturbances of proto-open borders right now, and it's hard to imagine a de-escalation.
Racism has always been a divide-and-conquer strategy against the working class,
You're basically saying that it has a 100% success rate. Why do you think that is? Could it be that it (in-group preference) comes naturally to humans, and this is a very easy thing to exploit. All that is required to aggravate it is forcing people to share a territory and compete for resources (which increasingly resemble scraps). Distrust and anger are quick to develop, and can be triggered by manufactured events - like, they don't even have to wait for things to take a natural turn.

I think I've already posted this one before, but it doesn't need to be stated explicitly (they are politicians, for Christ's sake - if you are expecting them to open their hearts and bare all, or tell you exactly what their big money donors are paying them for, I don't know what to say other than be less gullible). Just look at the combined effect of their positions. If you can't significantly deter, detain or deport, but can decriminalize and provide sanctuary, what exactly are we left with? I have a tiny bit of respect for DSA for being upfront about their nation-destroying aims.

Alexander Acosta, the current U.S. Labor Secretary, is in the hot seat, since a dozen years ago he was the U.S. Attorney for South Florida who cut that deal with Epstein. Ward explained the background of that deal, which is now a noose for Acosta. Specifically, she elaborated that the Epstein issue came up when Acosta was appointed to the cabinet by President Donald Trump. Ward writes: He’d cut the non-prosecution deal with one of Epstein’s attorneys because he had “been told” to back off, that Epstein was above his pay grade. “I was told Epstein ‘belonged to intelligence’ and to leave it alone,” he told his interviewers in the Trump transition, who evidently thought that was a sufficient answer and went ahead and hired Acosta. (The Labor Department had no comment when asked about this.)

Wait, what?

So, Acosta, according to himself, backed off on prosecuting Epstein back in 2007, despite the possession of ample evidence proving his guilt, because he “belonged to intelligence.” Whose intelligence, exactly? is the first of many questions that arise here.
Looks like we're never going to get the truth about this detail.

Global warming report, an 'ear-splitting wake-up call' warns UN chief
Tweeting shortly after the report was launched, UN Secretary-General António Guterres said that it is not impossible to limit global warming to 1.5°C, according to the report. "But it will require unprecedented and collective climate action in all areas. There is no time to waste."

In a statement released later in the day, Mr. Guterres said that getting there, would require "urgent and far more ambitious action to cut emissions by half by 2030, and reach net zero emissions by 2050."
A 'funny' thing is seeing the U.N.'s dedication to transferring people from low carbon footprint regions to high carbon footprint regions (see their global compact for migration), ensuring that developed nations do not reduce their populations to more sustainable levels, while also sounding the alarm about the climate apocalypse we're facing by 2050. So we're facing a civilization-threatening, humanity-threatening crisis in the near term, but not so much of an impending apocalypse that they will caution the shepherding of hundreds of millions northwards. Also, if they really want to get people to cooperate, think clearly and globally, it doesn't seem wise to create regional turmoil with demographic upheavals. It's enough to get the tinfoil beanie spinning.
Mischief Maker wrote:it made me think of "Dr. Seuss Goes to War," a book of his WWII political cartoons:
Advocates for non-interventionism have been vindicated by much that has happened since, but this is good at illustrating how little pro-war propaganda has changed. If you want to morally bully people into doing something destructive or contrary to their own interests, invoke the children (just not the soon to be firebombed children, or the ones of the vanquished that will be left behind to be terrorized by the victors) or just namecall. The self-mythologizing about WWII has not been a good thing for America.

The Lorax is classic, though.
