*Except for the fact that libertarians aren't really Republicans. :) They are obviously going to vote their own way. It's right there in their mission statement.

If you're out of country and wondering why the tally is running behind, Republicans passed rules in some states to slow the process. They did it on purpose.

Given Nevada's checkered history and Trump's long relationship with the state, the "slow count" strategy is backfiring. :) As the delay drags another day, Trump looks like a cheater. It backfired, you dipshit.

Election officials are now claiming they have no idea how many votes remain outstanding. This creates the perception that they are using the time to create additional fraudulent votes to help a longtime Vegas insider in a state infamous for organized crime. :)

Yeah. That backfired.

They know how many are out there but have no idea if those people even wanted them. Thus, not how many are coming back. California did the exact same thing (to the tune of 40 million people) but of course nobody gives a shit b/c it won't be close.

Sure, but preprocessing (or outright precounting) mail-in votes alleviates and offsets the issues--and allows for a timely (punctual) count that meets expectations.

Republicans wanted to play this gaslighting perception game and I'm happy to oblige them in Nevada. Trump cannot be a victim on his own turf. It's pointless.

Anyhow, they created this and fully intended to use it. It backfired and turn about is fair play. There is a solution: they could just count the darn votes the right way from the beginning. :) I couldn't make up conspiracy theories and happily spread them if the GOP had been honest.

Of course it does... common sense. The fact that Republicans wanted to block preparing of ballots in what was presumed to be a record turnout year with everything slowed down from social distancing shows their true colors. People can bitch and moan all they want about this party and that party, but voter suppression is a Republican thing.

Every time someone posts an "Art of the Deal vs Art of the Steal" meme, someone should remind everyone that Art of the Deal was ghostwritten.

Literally the only people in congress who gave a shit about the 2000 ass-ramming were in the black caucus and the socialist. Everyone else was back to brunch*, goose-stepping to the commands of their commander in chief. As they do to this day. (A moment of silence for the millions of future dead in Iran.)

I dunno. Maybe if they didn't scatter a million asinine elections all over the calendar to empower special interests I could believe this. Maybe if they didn't put republicans into their cabinet I could believe this. Maybe if they didn't jizz all over their faces when they win a presidential election by one electoral vote but don't have a majority in congress, betraying that this is the ideal world that they prefer and exactly what they wanted to accomplish, I could believe this. Maybe if their current king didn't say shit like "stay a republican, because we need a republican party" I could entertain this idea.

It's a ruling class thing. A capitalism thing. You're doing the same thing the conservatives who substitute the word "capitalism" with "globalism" do so they can defend the status quo. Every time you use the word "republican" in your head from now on, use the word "capitalist"; this will help deprogram you. Things are the way they are because that's how they want it to be, not because some inert sock puppet of theirs' somehow has agency over itself.

It's rough, but you too, can become a wizard.

If the democrats rigged this election, why didn't they give themselves a super majority in congress? Why would they lose so many state legislatures on the eve of redistricting?

What in the world of "bipartisanship" makes you think democrats would want to win elections????????????????????????? Not losing for them would be like the cookie monster not eating cookies or ninja turtles turning down pizza.

"Super majority" pfffffffffffffffft.... they already have a super majority with the republicans.

I have tried to understand why Bidden's victory has been so difficult and uncertain, and I think I get it.
Actually, Trump was good on an economical point of view, better than Obama. He was great for Wall Street and the GAFAM for sure, but not only. He also created 5 millions employments, drastically reduced taxes and regulations on companies and company-making (which greatly helped the employments), he reduced the bill of 100 billions on the chinese importations, and the US has become first with shale-gas.
Despite the Covid crisis, his governance helped the US to remain quite strong. Also, and it's a surprise, the median income for Afro-American people has increased more in 4 years of Trump's governance than it did in 8 years with Obama.
I think all of that explains why 50% of americans voted Trump (including a lot more black people and women than the medias expected), and no war with Trump...

It's going to be very interesting to see how the US economy goes with Bidden.

AOC wrote an excellent election postmortem twitter thread on Dem underperformance:

TL;DR It wasn't about progressivism dragging down centrists, it was about bad nuts-and-bolts organizing decisions by the centrist candidates. The Squad had solid wins and grew in size.

The fact that he inherited an economy that had been turned around after 8 years of funding Bush's war may have something to do with it.

Understand me, I'm not defending Trump, just trying to understand what he did on a factual point of view and why so many people voted for him. I mean Trump's war was mostly economy, employment and protectionism.

This is perfectly normal and to be expected. We're in the middle of a pandemic that's resulted in far more mail-in ballots than normal, with a president whose administration directly tried to subvert the election by tampering with how the mail system is handled, and with a president who has also whipped up mobs into protesting at ballot counting stations. And all this in the middle of a pandemic, which again is mainly Trump and his administration's fault for not properly attempting to contain it, resulting in thousands of deaths.

The idea that an election should be counted on the night of the election is what's bizarre. It's perfectly normal to assume ballots will need at least a few days if not a week in order to ensure they're counted. It's not about doing it fast, it's about doing it properly. Trump has set up the election in such a way that delays are inevitable, so he can scream about how it means there's fraud to his gullible, rabid base.
Understand me, I'm not defending Trump, just trying to understand what he did on a factual point of view and why so many people voted for him.

Of course China continues to export to the US, but I'm just pointing out this fact:

In 2016:

The US were selling for $130 billions to China / while they were buying for $505 billions to China

In 2019:

The US sold for $140 billions to China / while they bought for $405 billions to China.

So, in 4 years, Trump managed to reduce the importation bill of $100 billions, which I think is an interesting point.

I know and I agree with you, but I mean it is no coincidence if a good part of the working class voted Trump, the median income increased (~about an extra $359.00 per month), which hasn't happened since 1967.

For those of you who correctly think change will take too long to cushion our descent into the Mad Max-type apocalypse, here's a heartwarming factoid that should give you hope:

The 27th Amendment, the one where congress critters can't give themselves a raise effectively immediately, they have to wait a year or two before getting their extra scooby snacks, took 202 years to get ratified by the states.
cvaniafan wrote:I have tried to understand why Bidden's victory has been so difficult and uncertain, and I think I get it.

Don't... don't let them pour this kind of poison into your mind. The line only matters to capitalists and the lackeys of capitalists, it has nothing to do with the actual life of the average person outside of the coastal cities.

The actual real-world participation rate is lower than it was after the 2007 recession. This should be obvious - why would there be a higher job:population ratio? Wal-Mart services territory, not people. The scaling inherently favors a smaller ratio; this is disregarding productivity, squeezing more out of employees to get small single digit improved returns, etc.

A shit ton of people are simply disillusioned with our government. It isn't about wonky TV numbers stuff, it's about corruption. When you have the entirety of congress, hollywood, and the news in Biden's corner, it's rather easy to draw the assumption the guy does not have our best interests in mind.

And on the other hand, the white supremacy, USA chauvinism, whatever you want to call it... it appeals to a faction of people as well. One of the oldest tricks of coalitions based on a racial and+or religious majority, is to expand slightly who gets to be a part of that majority when it is in danger of not being the majority any more. In our past that included letting catholics and the irish into their clubhouse, stuff like that.

Anyway, "make America great again" is a better message than "America is already great, it's got just one problem". If Trump wasn't so transparently full of shit about caring about the peasants, and he wasn't presiding over a dumpster fire of a year, this would have been a cake walk.

Guess who gets to be responsible for the dumpster fire of 2024 with no plan to ameliorate any of those calamities.

The source of what I said about the median income that increased with Trump is a statement from the USDOL (United States Department of Labor), but perhaps they work for him (?) I don't know.
