What's worse, games like R-Type have "boss" enemies that must be destroyed which bear a shocking resemblance to female genitalia.

On the one hand you have rioters rioting, on the other you have police brutalizing. And then you have some members of each camp saying their actions are justified by those of the opposing camp.

Is this just an oversized family feud where both sides are wrong? Well, not exactly. Let's compare one side to the other. The cops have equipment and budgets and a union and special laws which protect them (literal privilege). And while protests can easily be infiltrated by agents provocateur and other opportunistic criminals, I don't believe anyone has claimed that police brutality is being perpetrated by fake cops. So It's a loosely-defined angry mob vs. a government sponsored and organized paramilitary force. Consider that before listening to anyone's excuses.

The real fault for both problems lies with our utterly corrupt government. As Jimmy Dore has pointed out, if they cared half as much about helping actual people as they did about bailouts for billionaires, then there probably wouldn't be as many rioters would there? If they hadn't given the police military equipment and training, and repeatedly failed to deliver any legal consequences for police misconduct then there probably wouldn't be as many murderous cops would there? Will the government do anything though? So far they have responded to protests against police brutality with more police brutality, an epic fail. Just now they brought charges against the killers of George Floyd. That's how long it took to do the obvious first step.

Solutions to police brutality that have been proposed (and largely ignored thus far): demilitarization, local control, end of qualified immunity, mandatory liability insurance for cops

I think this is why some people in other countries are getting excited about this (I've seen a few posts that said so). They think that just maybe, Americans are finally fed up enough to deliver a little chemo therapy and kill off some of the malignant cancers. Plenty of non-Americans hate the US government too.

BTW, I noticed that some people who were against protesting because of the pandemic are suddenly OK with protesting again. I did notice that.
