The small glimpse of the game was great, reminded me of the Marble Gallery from SOTN.

And if there's one thing the Marble Gallery lacked, it was backer portraits.

I don't mind if the portraits are hand drawn by one of their artists. That way they can fit them into the game and they won't look out of place. If they're just pictures of some random guys tho, then yeah, that would be hilariously awful.

Had hoped backer portraits would've gone out of style with MN9... so tacky. Nothing completes that thoroughbred action game look like random mugshots!

At least they kept it in line with the game's (terrible) art style

Yeah, at one point it was seemingly going to look even worse. :O

I just find the idea tacky and reductive on principle, though. I totally get acknowledging backers, or even just fans... EG Gunbird (SS) and Soul Calibur (DC)'s extensive fanart galleries. Not in the game itself though. A random mug dolled up as Count Barnardo Buttfucked The Third is still one more random mug than I want to see in a game purportedly bearing CV's torch.

From what I can gather, they will be hand drawn in the style of the game. They shouldn't look out of place.

I thought you had to make it (or, more appropriately, not make it) to 40 to become a wizard.

In seriousness, took me a minute for it to click, but got a good chuckle out of that.

Apparently it's 30 (I also thought it was 40).

Anyway, it might be cool if the portraits actually did something, like the big one in Rondo on the ghost ship that tries to capture you or the one in 4 that grabs you. Maybe the backer portraits could hit you with their Maria hug pillows?

I only vaguely know who that is, and I like it that way. ;3 It's nothing personal - fellow randoms and internet pinheads alike, I don't want to hear about them in my videogames.

Bleeding the fandom into the work itself is also a slippery slope towards some moneyed-up cretin like Brianna Wu buying her gurning dead skin mask a place in a new Contra or Gradius. And then I'd be sad every time I played. 3;

Or perhaps stepping on certain tiles could cause the portraits to release deadly blasts of highly-pressurised cheeto dust! :O

E3 trailer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTVYb6xeUcU

This definitely shows how much it's aiming to be a new SotN. The feedback and impact of hitting your enemies definitely feels very close to the original game, and in general the gameplay looks solid as fuck. This could easily end up being good.

Still not a fan of the discount look, that's a pretty huge disonnance from SotN's incredibly tight artwork. Graphics can't ruin the game, but it's definitely a big part of the experience in SotN.

For some reason I like the footage I'm seeing here more (there.s a few gameplay clips amongst the interviews)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m20wmdMC6ck&t=200s
It might actually be more polished than the E3 one (would make sense for the E3 clip to be compiled earlier)

Really liking what I'm seeing so far, I'm officially hyped

Some more gameplay here:

I'm genuinely worried about the apparent need to give every single boss character huge ol' titties.

This is how I'm feeling, I don't know why though... might just be color choice and lack of dynamic BG elements? I'm 100% sure that no music in that video is definitely not helping it feel exciting. So I'm waiting for the next one where there is actual music before I give too much judgement to it.

Also the boss is well done and looks pretty fun. Not sure where the complaint of boobies comes from, it's one boss shown so far (so how can you say "every single boss character"?), and it's not like her proportions are extreme or anything.

The boobbacklash has probably something to do with this boss from the last year's E3 demo :P

So far the graphical style isn't really blowing me way and animations do have certain sluggishness to them, maybe they're trying to emulate the animation style of previous 2D titles a bit too obediently and it doesn't work quite as well in 3D. That being said the actual gameplay loop seems to remain intact and I'm just a sucker for SotN-style Castlevanias so I'm still looking forward for this one.

The boobbacklash
Are SJWs and the PC police invading here as well?!? Is no place safe?
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Never. If ever they appear here we'll use logic to quickly run them out.
