Perturbator: Dangerous Days

This guy is fantastic, if I had to describe his style I'd call it "dark neo-eighties synth metal". He also has an ambient side project called L'Enfant De La Foret.

Speaking of Weasel Walter, I've been listening to The Flying Luttenbachers - Gods Of Chaos again, I think I might actually prefer it to Revenge. The album artwork is atrocious though. You name an album "Gods Of Chaos" and fill it with a ruthlessly spiraling miasma, yet come to the conclusion that the best artwork to represent this is to put the band in front of a 90's CG volcano after they got their faces painted at the circus.

To be honest though, this was probably their tongue in cheek intention.

Couple mixes I made in youtube, first is a small mix of Game music I put together yesterday when I was picking up my place! :P
The 2nd is a the 1st of 4 G-Funk mixes I through together. Big fan of the genre and have a ton of underground shit from the mid to early 90s!

I don't think I've heard this version before (would listen to Black Horse album a lot in my days of sulking, but this is from earlier version of that material released only as a casette at the time).
Last summer I revisited their album I'm Scared Of... (pretty bad cover art for a change) and now I think they artistically peaked on that one (although I find her English more of a nuisance these days).
Anyone who likes any of it should listen to My Dreams Dictate My Reality album by SoKo.

Lots of emo, mainly the twinkly/almost math rock kind. My favorites right now are American Football, Algernon Cadwallader, Empire! Empire! I was a lonely estate, Meet Me in Montauk, and Alaska.

Have you ever heard of Drive Like Jehu? Along with with Slint, Rodan, Rites Of Spring, and Unwound they helped pioneer the punk/mathrock combo in the early 90's.

Opening track off their 1990 debut

Not until now, no. This is great stuff though, thanks for showing me. Out of those other bands I've only heard of Slint but I'll definitely have to check them all out.

I don't play guitar and I completely agree. The man was fused to the instrument, a master's master.

so good. my personal favorites are systems emerge from a complete disorder and incarceration by abstraction. constructive destruction is also good too.

I tend to like these concept soundtracks. It's more prog/thrash-leaning, but Diad is a permanent resident of my game music folder.

Dark ambient/synth album. Not as good as this one, but it's worth a listen:

Dark Synth is a great genre.

While I think the quality varies vastly between his albums too much to praise his entire discography, there are a few pretty cool albums scattered throughout. Heroes is probably my favourite of his discography and the Berlin trilogy which had contributions from Brian Eno who's just an all around cool guy for his own work (Before And After Science, Music For Airports, etc...), work with Talking Heads (More Songs About Building And Food, Fear Of Music, Remain In Light), and contributions to the No-Wave Community (No New York was a jumping off point for Jame Chance And The Contortions, DNA, and to a lesser extent Teenage Jesus And The Jerks, and Mars).

That's some pretty neat chiptune. That first track reminds me quite a bit of classic Castlevania, and that third track "Merciless" sounds almost like they sped up "Kremlantis" from the first Donkey Kong Land game.

Kremlantis AKA: the universal theme of children playing gameboy with the quilt draped over their head

That's some pretty smooth stuff, kinda Jazzy and relaxing, like if Steve Reich conducted the Mahavishnu Orchestra.

From what I know this album is pretty polarizing in the Metal community with some people adoring this and others dismissing it completely. I need to check this out one day and form an opinion.

No problem. They're all favourites of mine and worth a listen. You also mentioned American Football, so I'm obligated to point out Cap'n Jazz, the lead singer's earlier group, particularly the album *INHALES DEEPLY* "Burritos, Inspiration Point, Fork Balloon Sports, Cards in the Spokes, Automatic Biographies, Kites, Kung Fu, Trophies, Banana Peels We've Slipped On and Egg Shells We've Tippy Toed Over" *GASPS FOR AIR*. It's also referred to as "Shmap'n Shmazz" for simplicity.

The opening track, "Little League", gives a pretty good taste of what's inside the album.

It almost goes without saying.

Personally, I've been listening to Electric Heavyland lately by AMT, particularly the last track, which I swear to god just about tears flesh right off the bone it's so over the top and drenched in distortion. People with weak eardrums need not apply. The section from 7:30 to 10:30 never ceases to make my blood boil.

Decided to see if I enjoyed The Mars Volta as much as I did back in 2007 or so.
Deloused in the Comatorium is still an ace album, and just about everything else they've done has some severe issues [such as songs going absolutely nowhere for several minutes at a time, almost just because that's "their thing" instead of it making sense for the song].

They can fucking play, their tracks just have focus issues, to the point where you can skip like three and four minutes of a song and not miss much.

Was just listening to the song Meccamputecture, ace song, kind of wished the rest of the album Amputecture got anywhere that good, I even think it's pretty damn well paced overall.
And now I'm listening to Cygnus... Vismund Cygnus, which is pretty ace even though it's way too long for its own good [all of the songs on Francis the Mute kind of are].
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

I do like Cap'n Jazz quite a bit from what I've heard, although I haven't listened to Shmap'n Shmazz in it's entirety yet.

The Mars Volta is one of my favorite bands. I recently listened to their first three albums and I'm coming to the conclusion that Amputechture is probably my favorite. Deloused and Frances are both great, but I like the more traditional prog rock feel that Amputechture has. Tetragrammaton is also my favorite TMV song, so there's that too.
