Yeah, I overlooked them for too long. I think it's because I'd only ever heard Mama, which is a very interesting album but not something I would return to often. I wish Wrong were more easily accessible I don't like having to stream on youtube.

I'm guessing some of you will like this. Super easy on the ears but with plenty of interesting things going on. Very nice that it's accessible here in the States on most streaming services.

some Gorgoroth sans Gaal and that other chode on guitar

some Inquisition too

Tried some Judas Iscarioth and didn't dig it too much. I tought the songs themselves were way too "samey" sounding from back of song to front (and that's coming from someone who likes early Darkthrone...). One uninterrupted rythm for whole song and that's it... You gotta break it up a little for fucks sake. have some pauses in there at least and/or parts with punches only(instead of a steady beat), that does the job nicely

Judas Iscariot is lame, yeah, and single-handedly gave USBM a bad name for about a decade.

Try Akhenaten's earlier band, Sarcophagus, instead. "For We... Who Are Consumed By The Darkness" is a hidden gem.

Once again into 70's pre-punk/punk/garage stuff. Johnny Thunder's album LAMF is awesome. The classic "Chinese Rocks" was for long said to be one of Johnny's best, but it's actually Dee Dee Ramone (Probably one of his finest lyrics). Nick Cave even mentioned on a song that "Johnny Thunders was half-alive when he wrote Chinese Rocks". I bet someone already let him know about his mistake.

That's a tremendous album. A friend of mine turned me unto it last year and it's one of my fave punk/proto-punk/garage records now. She also told me that the cassette release uses a different mix that sound less thin, and indeed that's the case. uses a different mix than other formats. It's on Youtube if I remember correctly

Indeed a DeeDee song! I prefer the Ramones version of Chinese Rocks better myself ^_^

Mildly disappointed by the yesterday's radio live transmission of Carmen from the Metropolitan Opera. Their superb, recent Adriana Lecouvreur staging, still fresh in my memory, had me spoilt, it seems.

I for one am most grateful to Mama for getting released over here on casette at the time when I would spend about all my pocket money on those. That one (and 4th and Back by Hissanol) greatly increased my tolerance to the "interesting" sorts of music indeed (all the way to microtonality, sonorism, spectralism and whatnot in recent years). Headache Remedy by Victims Family too, while we're at it. Last but not least - an incredible live performence by Cows during their Orphan's Tragedy tour. Credit where it's due - my early exposition to In the Court of the Crimson King must have taken part in such a development of my interests. (I'd heard of Voïvod, Wire and then some even way back when, but my access to the very music was erratic to say the least.)

Replaced my heavily used Varese Sarabande release of Conan The Barbarian with the Intrada 3-Disc Set. Despite some odd cues, the Intrada version is the definitive release of a phenomenal soundtrack that's already been re-released / remastered / fucked with 5-6 times.
Also picked up a copy of Conan The Barbarian (Prometheus) and Conan The Destroyer (Prometheus), both of which are performed by The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Nic Raine. Purist may scoff, but creative liberties may yield superior results: Wolf Witch, Tower of Set (Alternate Cues).

Destroyers results aren't quite a good and it's attributable to the fact half the tracks on Destroyer are recycled Barbarian pieces. Regardless, as an example Raine omits the choir (why?!) from Basil Poledouris - Dagoth Ceremony (Original Version With Choir).
As a variant of "The Orgy", it was that distinguishing feature which set it apart.

Craft - "Total Soul Rape" (2000. swedish black metal) - Really great stuff. not reinventing the wheel, but like a "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas"-era Mayhem-evolved kinda thing going. which is right in my wheelhouse. The later stuff is a bit catchier with more big mid-tempos, but that's fine too, I certainly don't scuff at that. I'm not a "it's gotta be a 100% kult electric-razor sounding recording or it doesn't count" guy so I give that stuff a fair shake too

Revocation - "The Outer Ones" (2018. USA) - Two of my friends have been trying to get me into this band for years and I still haven't really made the plunge, but I sure do like this last record by them. It's oustanding and I recommend it to all metal fans. There's stuff in it for everyone

Martyr - "Warp Zone" (2000. Québec, Canada) - What a classic. These guys were so ahead of their time, it's insane. Still sounds fresh. and a joy to relisten too
