I often hear that album namedropped. For some reason I never got into 90s Killing Joke at all, it just passed me by. I "grew up" with Nighttime as one of my favourite albums and tend to hold them up against that, despite their sound having changed a lot since then.

From their 2006 self titled album and on, I've become a big fan of their new stuff again. It's been a bit hit or miss, but they have some solid albums in that period, such as the aforementioned self titled and MMXII, as well as Hosannas From (..)

gorguts :> nice!
pretty decent album. I especially like it because you can really hear colin marston and kevin hufnagel's influence on the album.

also not sure if I posted this, but if any of you are on last.fm and want to add me :D

account has been decently strong since 2006

also you can see I've been listening to some tom waits, wolves in the throne room (especially with their reissue and tour announcement), blut aus nord, cynic, and geryon. new blink 182 track is kinda decent too. it's weird that matt skiba is now in the band.

Been a fan of chip based music since my childhood. Discovered Chipzel (she's awesome) a few years back and more recently Sabrepulse.

So fucking good.
You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.

I'll have to check that out. I love Obscura to death, but I haven't followed death/black metal closely for many years now, and their whole reformation flew under my radar. I read somewhere that the sound of Obscura was hugely influenced by guitarist Steve Hurdle, though, and I've not really liked any of the non-Hurdle Gorguts.

I finally have a decent surround setup in the living room, and have been checking out a bunch of 5.1 remasters. The Talking Heads stuff has been especially good in 5.1, really opened a window into the weirdness and sophistication of their early work for me. Also checked out a couple early King Crimson cds I'd never gotten around to... Lizard, which was mostly great, and Islands, which was shockingly horrible jamfesting. Discipline sounded good in 5.1, but I'm still a little put-off by the cheesy, poor-man's Talking Heads lyrics+vocals.

Was a big fan of Dangerous Days so I splurged on the glow in the dark LP edition. I'm so glad the album turned out to be good.

Preordered the new Perturbator on vinyl, but right now I'm a little disappointed that it sounds almost completely like Dangerous Days. The songs I like the best on the new album sounds like minor remixes of the songs I liked best on that one. It's not bad, but very monotonous in its style.

I like islands D: but the instrumental "sailor's tale" is really the main song that really sticks out to me on that album. for some reason it really reminds me of dungen - om du vore en vakthund. it doesn't really match three of a perfect pair and many of their other refined albums tho.

I like the front cover of that album but the best one is the artwork they had on Pandemonium I feel. I was well into Fractals on my lowly Amiga 1200 at the time as I recall :D

They just have this deep sound going on:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAmIS64Uw_g

They regularly pull juggernauts like this out of the bag with ease.

I like how they got the industrial guitar thing worked out early on but can hear the punk ethos at work. They are amazing live and I can only tell you to see them as soon as you can :)

About a week ago I was listening to Devo's Q. Are We Not Men? A. We Are Devo!, which I found when I took my dad's turntable out of the basement and went through his vinyl collection (which are several crates full of albums, each about as heavy (and large) as a 20" PVM/BVM). I bought the CD because I liked it enough.

You people were right about the Discman, though. I should invest in the new Walkman and rip them to FLACs.

Not really enjoying Radiohead's new album, I didn't particularly like the last one either. I loved In Rainbows, I'd place that above OK Computer, but this is just dull. Maybe it'll grow on me if I can motivate myself to listen to it again... who knows.

cyborg octopus's debut album is up for stream and it's tight as fuck. sorta reminds me of a heavier between the buried and me.

and first fragment's debut too, which is noted that it's similar to spawn of possession, necrophagist, and gorod, though it reminds me of beneath the massacre

been listening to a lot of Judas Priest lately, after a few weeks of listening to nothing but classic early-90s jungle and hardcore techno

Of particular note is that I've been enjoying the shit out of Sad Wings of Destiny [the song Tyrant is stuck in my head], and Painkiller is brilliant.
The semi-recent album they put out, Redeemer of Souls is pretty good too.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

I've been on a big Judas Priest kick for the past couple of years, mostly Rocka Rolla, Sad Wings..., Hellbent, and Painkiller. I've yet to go through their full discography, but those are all solid gold.
