Amazing stuff. Synthwave soundtrack of an alien invasion. The songs have many references to the sound effects of 50's outer space movies.

The Band Apart - Scent of August
Their best album. The music, the lyrics, everything works perfectly. And there are a heck of a lot of good drumming moments on this. Especially that drum breakdown in the 6th track on the album. Plus Light In The City is just an example of how tight a band can become.

Black Sabbath -- Paranoid.
sometimes I think it's brilliant and it comes together perfectly and I'm losing my shit over these vocals
sometimes I think it's rough as shit [mostly ozzy himself, because holy shit the guitar and drumwork is amazing start to end]
and these riffs are stellar

Oh, and I've also been listening to the Musha Aleste soundtrack.
melodically, it's amazing, a real tour-de-force
some of these FM patch choices make me want to fucking throw something though

What a mix: Synthwave/Chiptune, powdered with Metal vocals. Very interesting to listen to.

Brazilian Afrobeat compilation. I'm enjoying this one a lot, so I'll most likely check the catalogue to see if there's more good stuff published.

Amazingly composed Latin Jazz/Rumba album. Really worth a listen just for the flute playing.

Elvis Presley - The Essential
Listening to this man, and seeing some videos of him performing, I can't deny that he truly deserved the title of The King. :)

I saw Die Krupps in Berlin last night. I have to say that it's a massive relief to hear decent Industrial once again without all the teeny-bopper shite that plague the majority of festivals over here - all this dance-industrial that bores the living shite out of me.

Been a fan since 1997 but only seen them twice live. They are very good live I would say and worth seeing.

I have to say though that the newer DK material isn't as potent as the older stuff.

Die Krupps are one of my favourite live bands, and I've seen them a ton of times by now. Although their "new" album is cool I prefered their shows before that, since they'd exclusively play the classics - but it's always very energetic.
One of my eyebrow scars are from a show they played in Poland around 10 years ago, where it took like half the show before anyone in the crowd really started moving, but once they finally did, it was just nuts!

As always production wise DK have made very decent productions but the new stuff is just weak and cheesy when compared to the like of Odyssey of the Mind and before that.

Live: a lot, lot different to the last time I saw them. NO moshpit - nothing. I'd put the mode of the age range to be mid-40s and upwards so perhaps the kids grew up and can't be arsed? :D

They played more of the older stuff than the new stuff.

To my mind: DK are not Slayer and I don't really see the point in a moshpit half the time for this type of music, but if it were a Bolt-Thrower gig then that would be a different matter :)

They didn't play much from Odyssey sadly, no LCD, Last Flood but he had Isolation, *think* Eggshell, [II] Blood-Suckers, The Scent, Cross-Fire, Fatherland. There's only so much that they can fit into a live show I know but I would have liked to have heard Paradise Now.

They didn't play all of these last night but I quite like the songs on the newer albums: Essenbeck, Im falschen Land and Nazis auf Speed. I like the appreciation of the conditions of deadly loneliness in the intro to Nazis auf Speed and it's a good narrative for how people are exploited: how the components are not that important to the goal etc. :)

For me I think that I still like Odyssey the most but there are so many good songs across to [IV] that it's hard to really find a favourite album by DK.

Did you ever get the DKay album that Engler worked on? I have it here but not listened to it for years.

I'd definitely see them again.

Holy crap, that was tough.

Just did that "list 10 albums that have left a big impression on your life, and that you still listen to at least sometime" thingie that was passing on facebook. So incidentelly I'm re-listening to those today. The challenge was actually fun though, picking the main styles that I went through(list is in chronological order), sometime grouping a couple semi-similar ones in 1 pick. Really had to rake my brain, haha. So many important ones left out... and a couple genres/sub-genres not represented

Slayer / Seasons In The Abyss

Black Flag / In My Head

The Cure / Pornography

Sonic Youth / Sister

Fugazi / Repeater

Pavement / Slanted & Enchanted

Acid King / III

The Sword / Gods Of The Earth

Celtic Frost / Morbid Tales

Dissection / Storm Of The Light's Bane

user18081971 (aka Aphex Twin) Soundcloud Tracks

an enormous collection of everything Richard D. James uploaded to Soundcloud under the pseudonym user18081971.
I've been slowly sifting through this collection and unsurprisingly his entire gamut is covered; there are tracks that can hardly
be called 'music', and sound like nothing more than equipment tests. In other cases, the tracks are melodic and/or playful akin to
'4', 'goon gumpas', 'fingerbib' (e.g. *clissold*).

I'm about halfway through, and the common denominator is the tracks sound like dissected, isolated variants of official releases.
In other cases, it's an older track simply renamed (e.g. Polygon Window - 'clissold 101' (on the Polygon Window album 'Surfing on Sine Waves' re-release)
is named '009 - 0126 - 1 Chink 101' in the Soundcloud collection, and it bears an odd resemblance to 'Hexagon').
