The Mothers - Absolutely Free

I even liked it better than the classic Freak Out. All the stuff I wish I could record and create. I cant argue that this is Zappa at his best, but still currently my favorite by the guy. And if you dont like tracks like 'The Return Of The Son Of Monster Magnet', you may listen to this one to the end. I've been listening to a lot of Mothers lately, so I tried this one on the bus one day, while half-awake, and it changed me forever.

Stuck on an old favourite these days : Sodom's Agent Orange.

There are no words to describe how good of a trash metal record this is... even to this day there's plenty to learn from tha album about how to write scorching and vile trash riffs (and I do study it). It's still a reference, that simple.

Chthonic - Takasago Army

I enjoyed Bu-Tik when it came out (Resurrection Pyre and Defenders of the Bu-Tik Palace are 10/10 tracks but the rest of the album is good but not amazing imo) but never got around to checking out their previous releases. God damn, Takasago Army is a stellar album! Been thoroughly enjoying it. If you've never heard of them I guess the music can be described as melodic death with traditional Chinese folk music with some black metal influences. The band is from Taiwan.

Xmal Deutschland is great. The original Incubus Succubus had a very nice cover, unfortunatly, this one is a simple strange photo.
Someone would always play one of their songs in the darkwave events at night, good times.

Yes, the keyboard/synth player reminds me of someone that I know.

I had heard that there was a Goth scene in Brazil. It tends to be more the listening interest of the oldsters and people who like that era of sound.

Incredibly soothing Latin Jazz album with an amazing Brazilian Bossa Nova influence. A shame about the vinyl's absurd price, I would enjoy owning this.

Crystal Lake are a fantastic metal band. Probably fitting under some sub-genre I don't know the name of. Damn the stuff is just catchy. Hope the band can make it internationally and not just be popular in Japan.

There is a Goth scene still. It is just that it has been some time since ive been to one of their meetings, but the meetings still going without any lack of goths.

Good to hear. To be honest I think that there will always be some form of Goth scene around most places.

It's good shit, with nice samples, but I feel it's a bit overrated by the Internet.

In honour of discovering there's a new Project Pitchfork album coming soon:

They don't get anywhere near the level of exposure they deserve.

A lot of trip hop on this here channel:

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... MxKOkbnf6S

The songs in each mix all share similar qualities. I would say that they are all really good, even if some are not to my taste. I prefer more down tempo stuff:D

Mixes two, three, five and seven are excellent. One on a second skim seems to be really solid - like good for making dinner on the weekend with a bottle of wine. Four and six are not to my taste.

Forgot #35 - the first mix I found before I decided to listen to them in order - also excellent.
You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.

Enjoying some Skinny Puppy lately. Everything up to Too Dark Park (except Rabies)

I'm not a huge industrial guy (I'm more of a dark-synthpop/darkwave/coldwave/death rock/post punk guy, and I love my Cabaret Voltaire, and also all kinds of music that uses dissonance in interesting ways), but the Puppies are just to devilish and cool to ignore. The sense of pure horror their noise collages convey, over some seriously ass-shaking beats, is too cool 8) Ogre's voice is just incredible, just so fucking evil sounding, there's nothing else like it. Even his natural voice, by itself, sounds like it's coming straight from the pits of hell. But effects-laden like this, and manipulated, sampled : it is the stuff of nightmares. The heavily-layered music (especially once Dwayne R. Goettel had joined the fray), with the massive use of distorted voice samples, has that same effect too. The whole thing sounds very chaotic and unsettling, yet it's crafted so well, always very creative and interesting. You could listen to an album 50 times and still find new stuff you've never noticed before. And the bouncy beats, often straight up hip-hop inflected (again : especially once Dwayne joined) are so damn fresh, too. Truly some incredible craftmanship and genius at work. The stuff before Dwayne is more synthpop-esque in rythm and I love it too, cause I'm a huge synthpop guy. What incredible pioneers, and unique talent these guys are.

Horrifying and cool, that's SP to me 8)

Everyone always hates on Rabies - I don't get it. I love Too Dark Park, too, but Rabies is probably my favourite album from them.
One of the classic arguments seems to be people claiming it has "too much guitar" (wtf seriously?), or that it sounds like Ministry. While I guess there's a tint of both on the album, I don't see that being a dominant factor at all, and even if it were, I don't see how that makes the album any worse. It's much more varied than their earlier works, and has some of their best tracks (Worlock might even be my favourite music track ever)

I cannot speak for others. I can only speak for myself.
There are 2-3 songs I love on Rabies, but there are a couple that annoy me. (not saying they're bad songs : they're just not my style). So yeah, there are a few other albums I like better than this one. That's why it's not at the top of my list.
I don't get the guitar complaint either tbh.
