José Cid - 10.000 Anos Depois Entre Venus E Marte (1978)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otfChsCRGf8
Portuguese space Rock Symphony album that is limited only by the lyrics (beautifully written, I must say), but the composition and guitar play are incredible. The title means "10.000 Years After Between Venus and Mars".
Please be careful googling José Cid, in the 80's he took a protest picture of him butt naked with a platinum disc covering his dong. :lol:

I could swear I've posted lyrics to a song by the great 90s indie-rock/noise-pop band Pavement in here last week. What happened to that?

Forum glitch after power outage, bloodf had to roll back to an earlier version.

Actually, Jebus, glad I didn't start cranking out the walls o' text again until just now. :shock:

I'm blasting perennial marmite record, Purple Sabbath's Born Again. Can't change my sig just yet. Image Hard rockin', hard doomin'. Image I'd forgotten how fucking dirty and heavy the original mix is.

Didn't even know Ian Gillian sang on a Sabbath album. Pretty cool. That song is deliciously sludgey and catchy too

-------------------------------

Been listening to the band Aura Noir a lot this week, especially the album Black Trash Attack. Now that's an appropriate album name. Blackened trash is exactly what this is. This is ace stuff, the level of aggression, the satanic vibe and the speed are all up to snuff. FFO early Bathory, Slayer, etc.

Here's a damn intense and airtight live performance of this great track from 1995 (1996? whateva...) : Conqueror.

It's an infamously divisive record in Sabbath canon, and the guttural production didn't help things (holy fuck though, I love how this thing sounds - haven't heard the 2011 remaster, never really wanted to). Even the sleeve art gets roundly abused by much of the fanbase and the band themselves. :lol: I always thought it looked like Rotten Ralph tearing his own face off - that's pretty fuckin metal!

A lot of it is fairly standard (though very good) metallic hard rock, ie Trashed, Hot Line, Digital Bitch - but Zero The Hero and Disturbing The Priest are pummelling idiosyncratic monsters. Always loved the latter's oddly lurching, screeching riff and battering drum breaks, plus Gillan's absolutely batshit feral hollering (wtf?). The lyrics make me laugh tbh, they're like something I'd find on the back of a Famicom STG manual. :mrgreen:

A young friend (who is in a "very metal" phase atm) asked me if I knew this one; :lol:
https://youtu.be/tXqIgS0sNP8?t=46

Saddened to experience the tempo and key of zombie Priest here, I dug this one up for him;

The apex of Priest.
Judas Priest - You've Got Another Thing Comin' - Live on "The Tube" - 1984. In my estimation, their finest performance.

There use to be a HQ, sonically enhanced copy of this performance on youtube but it keeps getting taken down, so do yourselves a favour;
before you listen to it, download it and play it through whatever A/V player that you use, with good "Rock Equalization" applied. Turn it up. Thank me latter.

Sound of Scenesat Volume 4 has released today. So much good music from artists in the demoscene. Worth giving some money towards. Also noticed it has a remix by Rapture of a track from the shmup Ghost Blade. Good Spacesynth remix! http://music.scenesat.com/album/the-sou ... t-volume-4

Yeah, they're getting old [shit, nearly everyone in the band right now except for Faulkner has some real history with the band]. Halford's been active since '69.

As an aside, it's amazing how much a minor speed up+pitch up improves their latest album. I'd kill for 80s Priest to do a song from Firepower.
Halford can still hit those sky-high notes if he tried, but age is taking a toll on him.
At least Halford still sounds a lot like he used to. Listening to say, more recent Ozzy is just weird, it's like an entirely different singer.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

Cibo Matto - Viva! La Woman! 1996. That album made me happy. Good Shibuya-kei stuff.
You may have already heard "Sugar Water" on a Buffy episode, "Birthday Cake" on Jet Set Radio Future or even "Know Your Chicken" on the MTV many years ago. Sometimes its very chill and sometimes very loud, so Im not sure about the right occasion to hear the the album.

Funny, was listening to Cibo Matto just earlier today. Completely forgot their existance until I randomly came across Birthday Cake from the JSRF soundtrack, and got reminded of it. Haven't heard this stuff for years, it's really cool.

Yellow Magic Orchestra and Oriental Magnetic Yellow. The latter are an homage/parody act including SanoDG and other Namco composers. I wish that I could bring the family vinyls to my current location...living abroad has its (deeply) annoying aspects.
Chomsky, Buckminster Fuller, Yunus and Glass would have played Battle Garegga, for sure.

I'm currently on a big Morbid Angel kick

Specifically, the albums Altars Of Madness, Domination and Gateways To Anihilation are in heavy rotation over here

Altars Of Madness is of course amazing. This is such a treat for someone like myself who prefers the oldschool Death Metal sound. such an impressive record, the songs are all bona fide classics, and are thusimmortalized. Really crass and frantic, with raspy vocals on top? gotta love that. Total savage stuff

I love the other two, but for different reasons. They have a different sound and direction, a bit more sludgey, deeper voice and with a full sounding production. SO a bit more modern sounding, compared to AoM. But I still love em. Domination might be the best produced Death Metal record I have ever heard. unreal. And the songwritting quality is there to match. GTA is great too.
