Missed the run. What was the final score?

Congrats on your redicilous score ben.shinobi. I talked to Ghemant about it over at marp. Truly incredible score. I thought 3.2mill. would be max and maybe even a stretch, but you managed 3.5mill. which is mindblowing. I saw a lot of tricks in your video that I didn't know about, like the start of stage 2.

My personal best is just short of 2.9mill.

edit:
2.345.420 and 99 prisoners. I have to watch the full run as I have to know how to get more prisoners. 99? Wow, I think my average is like 81.

Final score is 2.3M but without leeching on mission 5.
This is a no miss clear with some good tricks.
The only thing I learned is the boss on mission 5. I already have understood that is possible to leech during his transformation but I never understand how it works. Now I know !!

Yeah, I came up with nearly all of these tricks on my own. First time watching that now. I guess I was off by a good margin on just how many more points you can get! It's really hard to find good Metal Slug information on the (English-speaking) internet, so pretty much the only things I didn't figure out myself were some of those sneakier prisoner locations, and learning about the APC bugs in mission 5.

Feel kind of stupid for using that replay now, considering how far away from optimal it still was. I did avoid sitting around waiting for prisoners to knife intentionally for better viewing, at least. It really is a shame how much scoring in Metal Slug involves waiting around.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

Haven't bothered watching the whole thing, but I see a lot of little things you can improve in your own video, ben.shinobi. You should pay attention to how I handle the second barricade with the raining soldiers in mission 5 because I get substantially more points from it. For that medal chaining trick in the final mission you should actually take the Slug with you off of the U-boat, because in the unfortunate event that the shaking doesn't knock the medal(s) off of the U-boat, you can still quickly use the extra-high leap from jumping out of the Slug to grab them. Just don't jump out too far to the left, so that you don't scroll the Slug off screen when moving back to the right to get off the U-boat! I didn't react fast enough to do it in my replay, but that's the idea.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

I really enjoyed this episode. D.D. Crew is a pretty fun game once you learn how the mechanics work. It plays so differently than the FF style. The classic 90s cheese in this game is really great.

I got my wife to sit down and play D.D. Crew on the cab with me. I was only able to convince her to sit down because I played up the 90s cheese angle, the music and style. She actually played all the way to Stage 5 with me. This is someone who has absolutely zero interest in video games. The only other game I've been able to convince her to try is Puzzle Bobble. D.D. Crew is awesome. She was actually laughing out loud at parts of the game, like when the first boss makes an entrance.

I've always thought this game to be total crap except for the amazing final level music, I watched a bit of the video though and you guys were able to make it entertaining enough

Yeah, it's true Haggar lack of upper torso animation for his walking in Final Fight sucks... This game animates well but it's weird at the same time, lol

Hey all, forgot to update about this episode, but alas, we have done it.
It's Taito's Buddhism in Japan Arcade Platformer from 1988! Bonze Adventure / Jigoku Meguri

It's a fun one.

Next week we're looking at a Ninja Kids + PuLiRuLa special with SRKFunkdoc and zuquidity as special guests, and perhaps chumlum as well.

Ninja Kids? That game is hilarious. The most jive-ass Satanic muppet thugs this side of Harlem.
YOU ARE NOW SERVANTS OF THE SATAN

That's some hardcore shit, yo.

When I have free time I'll have to tune in to Bonze, since I was just playing that recently. It's an excellent Taito platformer.

Certainly the most fiendishly reactive enemy behaviour I've seen from an FC sidescroller. Those buggers are tricky to hit without getting pasted yourself, you really need to dosie-do with the AI and physics.

Just a beautiful game.

It's not to the point where I can't play it, but no matter how much I like it BoI is one of those games I'll never recommend to someone in real life. (I have a few of those, which I've considered unrecommendable for various reasons. I should make a list of them, or something)
I love BoI and have bought copies for friends. Cool!
