15,000

Post by GaijinPunch »

rancor has graciously hosted another batch of posters to celebrate my 15,000th shit post. Enjoy!

Previous Post:
Going to be a while 'til I hit 15,000 due to my new life. In the meanwhile, I'm moving gamengai over to AWS as the pay structure makes a lot more sense for a site that just sits there for the most part. As such, I got some extra bandwidth on the old provider, so enjoy some 300 DPI poster/flyer scans. Feel free to mirror, pass around, torrent, or whatever. I will take them down after a couple of days as I don't have unlimited bandwidth.

If you want to thank me, I've hit a few snags with AngularJS. If you fancy yourself somewhat moderate or above in those skills, drop me a line. One is actually a CSS problem that's fisting me. The other is Angular's $sce not really liking HTML tags embedded in MySQL.

Posters
Raiden Fighters Jet
Mushihimesama Futari (Instruction Card Design)

Flyers
Chojikuu Yousai Macross
Gunball
Dogyuun
Darius Gaiden

Thank you for the scans. Beautiful work :D I've been battling angular too since September. Not sure I'll be of any help to you though. Still consider myself a n00b.

This graph pretty much sums up my journey too. I'm somewhere between Are you kidding me?! and Very Cool!

Forgot the model but it was an Epson A3 scanner. An A1 poster takes 8 (overlapped) scans and either a lot of patience or good panorama software.

I'm with you. Some stuff it does really well... others, definitely not. I got an answer on StackOverflow for one problem which I will try out tonight. Fingers crossed.

I'd love to see some more NMK and/or UPL scans! :D Data East would be excellent as well.

Lemme do some digging. Don't have tons of UPL or NMK, but definitely some. Sexy Parodius... flyer for sure, but fucking Konami sent them out w/ holes punched. :-/

Dang, shame about the holes. Well, I'd still be interested anyway if you find the time. What about Metal Black? Can't remember what you've posted before, so I apologize if I'm just reiterating this.

Not sure if I did but I'm sure I got it. Gimme a little time and I'll get on it.
The holes can likely be alleviated w/ Photoshop in a digital version. Actually, I think it was a Konami thing for a long time.

Brilliant work. I would get mushi printed but I like minimalism I have enough posters on the wall, though not enough in my cupboard.

About angular, well, I should know more seeing as my uni venture was general cs w/ a fair amount of web design.
I kinda figured out the best approach fairly early on but it won't be nice to hear

I could spend 2 years learning a particular language/framework/whatever and be pro.
I chose instead to learn as much cross-platform universal programming as was necessary to understand any code I looked at with a friendly break-down.

Because
Spoiler
I can get aspie programmer dudes who are pro with a particular language/framework/whatever to do whatever I say and I make most of the $$$. They often have no idea what to do with their skills, I design and supervise, they love having a challenge presented to go nuts on. W/o me there would be nothing so it is fair. Call me Oskar Schindler.
When learning a new language/framework/whatever I would figure out which aspects can only be done in pretty much one way, find examples on google. COPY/PASTE -> TEST -> MODIFY -> boom done. I scrutinize the work 10 times over to ensure that it is in fact original and legitimate, this is called working backwards.

Best programming prep method imo is to write down everything you want to happen in plain english. Do sketches, expecially with web design, figure out what you want the finished product to look like before you have a single thought about programming code.

Perhaps what I wrote in this post is relevant and doesn't piss you off or makes me look like a fraud*

* I am a total fraud but in a perfectly legal sense

It's a weird subject. I'm proficient at C/C++, but there are many that at better. I also know a handful of other languages (mainly scripting). Not sure if it helped or hurted in the job market, but I'd say you need one ace in the hole and you need to be a rock star at it. So, I need to up my C++ game for the future. Angular is just for fun.

The "bitching while sitting on a bench in a park, holding onto a silver cane" phase of our lives is getting closer.

I can't believe we're getting there without even a minor cardiac arrest, jail time, drive-in shoot-out and other important steps of any adult life (well, unless you folks are shy and don't want to share with good ol' Rando Brown).
Chomsky, Buckminster Fuller, Yunus and Glass would have played Battle Garegga, for sure.
