I'm with you... considering how often we've gotten to see Danyreas Targaryan's titties in Game of Thrones, I really can't think of any reason to watch this.

I'm so glad the franchise ended after 2 and there were never any sequels or spin offs. Would have sucked if they ruined the series.

At least it only had two quotes from T2 and only four instances of that BWOOOOOOM noise from Inception!

Hollywood is full of absolute fuck.

Apart from the unnecessary reboot crime because imagination is clearly a difficult thing to come by these days, bar Arnie who's allowed to be shit, you can tell all the actors are appalling - that brain dead hunk of muscle from Die Hard 5 and the vacant single-expression man mountain from Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - and the script is clumsy bullfuckery of the most calamitous don't-give-a-shit 30 minute job factory in tinseltown.

I knew what this topic was about before even clicking it.

I’m one of the biggest Terminator fans you’ll ever know. Own both on VHS, have the movie posters, making of book for T2, the shitty comic, learned how to twirl my toy shotgun like Arnie does while riding the bike, made a toy minigun with PVC pipe that actually spun...

seeing this awful trailer kills a part of me.

This script was written with one single instruction by the studio:

Make an excuse for why an Ahnold terminator should look really, really old.

Remember the original movie where they had terminators with different faces and so on? The resistance must have been really stupid to let Ahnold terminators into their bases over and over and over again.
Two working class dudes, one black one white, just baked a tray of ten cookies together.

An oligarch walks in and grabs nine cookies for himself.

Then he says to the white dude "Watch out for that black dude, he wants a piece of your cookie!"

So true.

Fun action sequences aside, Terminator 2 is a Son of Kong level parody of the original, as the merciless cybernetic killer becomes a surrogate dad and says '90s kid catchphrases. Becoming an Arnie vehicle was the worst thing that could happen, though maybe inevitable, given how iconic his role in the first was.

I'm confused, is this a reboot, or a sequel? Or is it like Star Trek were it's both at the same time?

Also, the almost forced use of iconic Schwarzeneggar lines is pandering at it's finest, lol.

T2 is awesome because of how stupid it is, not in spite of it.

The first clue might have been when the thing was titled "Genisys".

I wouldn't have watched the trailer at all if not for this thread, srs. I'm going to be stuck up all night wondering how the heck that bus flipped over like that. Thanks.

It still can't be as much of a mess as Prometheus was.

No amount of shitty sequels can make the first 2 movies less than awesome. They stand by themselves.

This looks like just as good of a place to put this.

I love Kenny Powers, but I think he is best left on Earth.

Also worth noting, Prometheus had a worthy trailer, and sucked. This trailer sucks, so maybe it'll be a worthwhile film? Gonna go out on a limb and say no.

Arnold was a great inspiration and role-model it has to be said to us "kids from the 80s" :)

I still love his films with my all time favourite being The Running Man.

To this day I meet loads of people who know all of Arnold's scripts perfectly. It marked an era.

The seeming absence of Damien Lindelballs makes me 0.001% optimistic. Most of Prometheus's suckage seems traceable to his brand of pseudo-hippy "spacejesus did it durrr" non-writing. Although whoever wrote in the stock horror movie "don't go in the house" retardation also needs to be imprisoned deep underground, and regularly beaten with a rubber hose! If that was him too then nm.

Still probably gonna suck though. Oh well. Image

edit: I just watched the trailer. I can accept the original Alien's hints of late 70s slasher cliche because, well, it is a late 70s slasher - in space. This shit, though. :shock: And hey, a weird egg is opening, let's peer inside with a flashlight. Oh nooo!

Pillar to post with these pre/inter/non-quels, it seems. WTB Mischief Maker's Alien movie, that sounds fun and appropriately distanced. 3;

You remembered that post? I'm blushing!

You know what the problem with Prometheus was? It wasn't as soullessly trite and by-the-numbers as the unnecessary prequel to "The Thing!"

Remember in the first movie how the blue collar mining crew had completely sane and reasonable quarantine rules that were only broken by the unexpected intervention of a robot programmed by a corrupt space corporation? Looks like we're in for a second movie where brilliant future space scientists on a trillion dollar mission say, "helmets are for fags, bro!" But don't worry, they lampshade that stupidity in the trailer. That technique works outside of comedies, right?

I still think the thing's used up, like trying to recreate an old tv series that's aged worse than fish. Neill's version at least has potential because it has things we're emotionally invested in:

* Ripley
* Her surrogate husband Hicks
* The robot she's having an affair with
* Newt the pet newt

Things we're not emotionally invested in:

* Ghosts in the form of homicidal aliens
* Ghost-aids
* Nonsense
* AT Walkers
* Ewoks
* Busting huge waves of ghosts nonstop

Remember how subtle movies used to be with this stuff - one lightsabre fight a movie, a few minutes of actual ghostbusting (of the ghost or alien variety)... they're not exactly "special" effects if the entire movie's a $150,000 a second CG shot, now are they..
This, though. And hey, a weird egg is opening, let's peer inside with a flashlight. Oh nooo!
I'm more butthurt over the fact he's not wearing a freaking helmet. That's so damn stupid, we're going backwards in a hurry.

A reasonable person NEVER takes their helmet off - you can be attacked by goblins at any moment. OSHA standards people, damn.
That technique works outside of comedies, right?
I thought Prometheus was a comedy? It's one of those experimental meta-comedies.

I disagree. T2's weaknesses were just grating. The dumb kid (and that idiotic sappy ending, ugh), the horrendous humour, Linda Hamilton overacting the shit out of everything and that in a bad way. T1 was low budget but it wasn't hilarious B movie schlock. It actually had an excellent tone, with great atmosphere and several good characters, from Kyle Reese to the jaded cops and so forth. Simple stuff perhaps but effective. T2 was just too damn commercial.

All in all, as far as i'm concerned at least, Cameron made two great films. Terminator and Aliens. Everything else was just bad in almost every respect except the action and direction.

That said, T2 is high art compared to this modern crap we are getting, from T3 to this latest travesty. What was bad back then would be considered a masterpiece today. That's how far we have declined as a culture.
