special reserve is handling it, which is seriously worrisome. they're the worst of the batch of people i'm aware of doing limited print runs - though, honestly, iam8bit would be worst for their hilariously bad handling of rez infinite were it not for them stepping their game up so well with their release of hyper light drifter. of the ones i'm aware of, i've had no serious problems with and/or heard no horror stories about:
limited run games (progenitors of the craze and the gold standard, tbh), super rare games, play-asia, strictly limited [they're a tad obscure but keep an eye on them, they're supposed to have sayonara umihara kawase++ as a worldwide exclusive], signature edition, and dispatch games.
special reserve has lousy and sometimes combative PR, an abysmally bad twitter account (floods your timeline day-in and day-out with their brand of "humor" - mostly pretending to be their dog mascot), an incredibly faulty store, takes advantage of LRG's kindness for free publicity (and gives them exclusive covers to ramp that collector craze), and a consistent history of physical editions they rush out before a game is done being patched so they're not future-proof and don't have dlc. their first release, strafe, is almost literally unplayable without numerous patches. half of the fucking point of buying physically from these limited batches is getting a game you can play in 10 years after the online service shuts down without work-arounds & piracy and they can't even get that right.
when they released ruiner, the store crashed. during this time, the game's variant cover went on sale at LRG as expected (and sells out nearly instantly because it's only a 1000 copies and this is a game people want). they announce a new date, get everyone ready, and then it crashes again. a week or two later, they announce exclusively on their cringe-worthy twitter account that it's going up in an hour and it immediately sells out (myself and many others, of course, miss this). then, afterward, it takes them months to name a new date for the remaining stock and has you following the twitter just out of fear. just. christ. embarrassing. they've also gotten into public arguments with detractors (iam8bit also does this, but at least their storefront works and they've had good stuff post-rez infinite).
if you're looking to make sure you actually get a copy of the messenger (it's well-received and they never have any idea what to do with their print numbers), register on their website and do a trial checkout (obviously don't complete it) of something else
well ahead of time and follow their twitter account. otherwise, get ready to eat shit on ebay. they're handling enter the gungeon, which i'm also interested in, and god damn, i just wish someone else would grab the games they get the licenses for or at least speak to the publisher that there are better options before it gets finalized.
