IMO, UKS has the original slightly beat game play-wise. Tighter physics, more paths to chose from, less random sea life to deal with and some of the most ungodly hard platforming levels I've ever seen outside a ROM hack. But again, that's just my opinion. They're both god tier and picking one over the other is full retard.

If you still think it looks dull after watching this, there's no hope for you! Yes, it's a tool-assisted speedrun, but it was through TASes I learned of the game, started playing it and eventually started speedrunning it. If you watch videos of the game played by people not skilled with the fishing line, I can understand it looking dull - it has quite a learning curve.

There's a total of 46 different fields in the game, and six or so different "environments".

...what a weird route. Probably the longest path that still takes you to that exit door, which is the exit door you'll normally reach in a shortest path run, going through nine fields and taking less than three minutes.

Agatsuma Entertainment has a neat habit of reuniting old developers. They brought the Guardian Heroes team back for Code of Princess. The original duo that created Umihara Kawase for the Super Famicom is returning for Agatsuma’s 3DS game, Farewell Umihara Kawase.

Kiyoshi Sakai is the game designer and main programmer for the 3DS title and Toshinobu Kondo is the character designer.

Farewell Umihara Kawase has two version of Umihara to play as, Umihara as a kid and adult Umihara which have different abilities. Players can earn costumes plus unlock illustrations and music for the game’s galleries as a reward. Farewell Umihara Kawase also has a time attack mode with online rankings where you can compete with other players in Japan.

i think atlus aren't so hard on bringing obscure japanese games to the west anymore. there was some drama about some game some months ago iirc, and they basically told their fans that there are other publishers now that more suited for that kind of thing
