Ah, man. Was just thinking of that classic Street Fighter tagline while backstabbing some fools in Bloodborne over the weekend. "If you're gonna fight - FIGHT DIRTY!" In memoriam: Gigaton Head Crusher + Return Of The Nutsack-Crushing Fist

Not sure how many other former art students are among us, but any such sorts should recognize Chuck Close, who died the other day.

Wow, never heard of him. But I think that says more about the quality of education I received than the impact/reach of his work.

I saw a Chuck Close show in 1998 at the Hirschhorn in DC and it was amazing. Had never seen anything like it before in my life, and I think it's absolutely essential to see them in person to understand. The scale of the work is epic.

Obligatory fuck this thread. :P Charlie Watts, aged 80. Funny guy, always seemed a relative class act in that gang of scoundrels.

Michael K. Williams, 54, suspected overdose. Sad to see another of the best from HBO's late 90s/early 00s heyday gone so young. Immortalised The Wire's Omar, also had a tiny yet indelible cameo in The Sopranos, and a hell of a run as Boardwalk Empire's Chalky White. A consistent standout among first-rate casts.

Actor Michael Constantine, perhaps best known as the dad in My Big Fat Greek Wedding, age 94.

Good listen. I knew he'd gotten started as a backup dancer, but it's an interesting coincidence that Tupac got him his first break, with the latter's own career path. Holy shit @ the Sopranos anecdote, haha. I almost wonder if they ad-libbed the chess set.

I dunno why, but mention of Steven Crowder made me think of this Norm MacDonald story.
Two working class dudes, one black one white, just baked a tray of ten cookies together.

An oligarch walks in and grabs nine cookies for himself.

Then he says to the white dude "Watch out for that black dude, he wants a piece of your cookie!"

I follow a group on FB called "Cassette Futurism" that posted a few tributes to him today. I reckon a handful of people here would dig that group.
