Michael Brooks, one of the brightest stars in left-wing independent media, died suddenly today.

He's the main reason I know anything about Brazilian politics:

Equal parts funny and smart.

Jesus Christ, he was the spitting image of health when I watched his show last week.

This is terrible.

The Majority Report today ran 4 hours long and it was nothing but eulogies to Michael Brooks from every corner of left media.

I always loved the guy, but taking a step back and really looking at how much he accomplished over the years, especially the two years of the Michael Brooks show, we lost someone special here.

He made this brilliant clip the night before he died!

Well, there goes Regis Philbin, the original host of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire... And knowing Alex Trebek's cancer battle, I know he'll soon follow suit, unfortunately. Fleetwood Mac founder Peter Green also kicked it... Regis was 88 and Green was 73. Gonna have to add John Saxon to the list as well, best known for Enter the Dragon, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and Beverly Hills Cop III. He was 83. And Olivia de Havilland lived a long life, age 104.

Dame Olivia DeHavilland, gone at 104 years old, I believe only 1 of two actors that were still alive from Gone With the Wind. She had just turned 104 earlier this month, and I was really pulling for her to keep living. :(

He wasn't even young or a leftist - Dick Cheney absorbed very little Time from his lifeforce. fuckin' 2020....

Good night, sweet Prince.

I always forgave him for destroying the blood, which we all know he did.

Searched Youtube high and low to no avail for a less than well-known SNL clip of Wilford Brimley, portrayed by Dana Carvey, advertising a sex chair for seniors. Would be magik if it popped up but alas, I think I'm going to have to enjoy this one in my head, alone.

Too many fond memories of childhood with his grandfatherly visage telling me about the joys of nickels, oats, and beetus

As an older man I got to enjoy him being blown to smithereens by Kurt Russel. RIP for a life well-lived ;-;7

Not as famous a scene, but he'll always be remembered by me as the mafia goon not-so-subtly threatening Tom Cruise in The Firm.

Brilliant casting because when I first saw the film I was silently screaming, "Quaker Oats guy, what are you doing?!"

I wonder if he was the prototype for Mike from Breaking Bad, and all his kind grandfather scenes?

Phil ;_;

As librarian of internet:

You're looking for S14E7. The clip you want is on youtube, it's this one right here. However, the Comcast telecommunications conglomerate has determined it necessary to only post it publicly but not post it publicly in order to tease you. Predictable, but also mysterious.

NBC's website might actually let you watch it. \_(ツ)_/

Never again will I regard lightly the moniker of Battle Garegga's Iron Mackerel (Wild Snail type B). Some poor fucker got fatally tackled in the chest by one while boating. No name currently, just age (56yrs) and cause of death (fuckin high-velocity 18kg Mackerel to the sternum). ;-;7

Hard hits to the chest are no joke, that's how a lot of car crash fatalities occur. Chest + steering wheel = enlarged heart, fatal scenario! Sylvester Stallone almost got himself killed by Dolph Lundgren this way, while filming Rocky IV. Sly insisted his co-star hit him harder, Dolph obliged, Sly ended up in hospital at death's door. Imagine the tragedy if Sly AND Carl Weathers died making that film! :shock:

Frank Cullotta, Chicago Outfit affiliate and LOUSY FUCKIN RAT (tbf, his BFF Nicky Spilotro did try getting him whacked after pinning a bunch of his own infractions on him) - HE DEAD. 82, "complications from covid," the fuck that means anymore. For all I know he died on the shitter, before an opportunistic mosquito feasted upon his wizened old asscheeks and nutsack. Good run for a crook, at any rate. Young man's game, that.

If you've seen Casino (1995), Frank Vincent (PBUH)'s character "Frankie Marino" was based on him (Cullotta was a technical adviser, and cameoed as a hitman). Here's to, however tangentially, bringing this sad world a little more joy with the definitive Baseball Bat Beatdown. Ramones ain't got shit. -_-7 Have you seen Casino, xxx1993? Don't click that video if you haven't, it's a cracking gangster film. Perhaps the most obscenely cataclysmic yet personally punishing of the well-worn rise/fall format. Godlike soundtrack, even by Scorsese's own legendary standards. Think I'll rewatch it this weekend. I'm trying to find a good source for the claim that after Nicky put a hit on the cops who'd killed his pal, Kent Clifford promised the Outfit's bosses that if they didn't personally rescind the order, he and forty armed men would roll up to their houses and Right Wing Death Squad every last man, woman and child in sight. Chi-town knew what the fuck time it was then, son. Image This was the sorta bullshit that led to Nicky's troubles with the bosses back home! Also fuckin' another guy's wife - bad for business!

Pesci's very real stress and disbelief in that scene... :lol: "Anthony, listen, I got your head in a fuckin vice, you don't talk, I'm gonna squoosh it like a muddafuckin grapefruit, now come on, please don't make me do this, don't make me be a bad guy, huh?"

Blimey, no age at all.

Joe Ruby, co-creator of Scooby Doo and co-founder of Ruby-Spears (both with Ken Spears), 87, natural causes.

Not as big an animation buff as some here, but the old Ruby-Spears logo flash inevitably holds a fond place in any 80s kid's heart. So many of their shows rented from our local "tape club," AKA "Granny records US broadcasts off her dish and rents the tapes." ;w;
