Eschatos soundtrack, Eschatos soundtrack, and oh yeah Eschatos soundtrack

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNvMT4WjaOo

Also I never knew there was a version of Asuka 120% Burning Fest for the X68000 until recently, and I actually prefer the sound arrangements on there than the remixed versions on Limited and Final.

Namco Game Sound Express VOL.04 Dragon Saber

Utterly sublime melody-driven oldschool VGM. ^__^ Has both Dragon Saber's arcade OST and its hidden redux of Dragon Spirit, which I don't know if I prefer to the original but is stellar in its own right.

Oh, cool... I completely forgot Yamaoka was doing SOTD's soundtrack.

Yup, sounds like him. Such a distinct sound. I was hoping for something a little bit more upbeat for this though, still really melancholy. The second one you posted 'Clawing at the Veil' sounds like Phil Collins performing in hell.

Played through the game twice already and I can pretty much say that Yamaoka's sound design and BGM is what made me do that. Mind you, the game is not bad at all, but it feels really special thanks to Akira's moody and melancholic tunes mixed with Suda's "humor"*. Also, there's much better and even more SH-ish sounding tracks in there, but I can't seem to find them on youtube. The full OST should be released soon.

EDIT: *This should be a good example (spoilers)

One of my favourites from Hard Corps' OST (even if it was from the ending where Bahamut gets away!). That game has a killer almost Neo Geo-like guitar buzz. As good as the ominous boss rush suite from Contra III's final stage is, I prefer Hard Corps' eerie, yet hard-edged Alien stage BGM.

And also Last Boss... I mean Last Springsteen. This has to be among the most brutal songs ever created in FM synthesis.
kof - bloody (new faces team)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPQCE7TVHRE
kof Iori - Arashi no saxophone 2
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hi6_jguKwU
I love these two as well, especially Arashi no Sax#2. All of the Yagami Team themes from 95-2000 are cool.

When I first discovered KOF I couldn't believe how adventurous their soundtracks were. The entire '94 to 2000 Arrange Sound Trax series is gold. There's too many good songs to list, but I particularly like Aozora ni Flute (Fatal Fury Team) from '95 and Inner Shade (Benimaru Team) from 2000. It's kind of futile to list just two, though... lots of great and very diverse music in those seven albums.

Aozora ni Flute (Fatal Fury Team) from '95
Great theme!! Added to my favourites xD
and this song made me remember this 2 from Street fighter alpha 2 & Street fighter Ex plus alpha ( great soundtrack too)

The first time I saw Kof was on Arcade kof 95. I was amazed to see fatal fury and Art of fighting characters all together...
Geese howard Fatal fury special!!

Kofs series has excellent awesome incredible amazing wonderful soundtrack. :P
for example:
Shingo theme Wow...amazing that on my ps1.
Esaka kof 96 Awesome !! i heard this on Kof 98 ps1.
Rythmic Hallucination Beautiful !! Orochi team!! the best team.
kof 94 - China theme psycho soldier I found this on internet....I like Kof 97 Athena theme but this is great too.

and much more!! kof 90s music is perfect.

Image Fight (Irem GSM1).

Image

Primarily for Ninja Spirit's rocking, sinister OST. Irem melded dark overtones with pounding metallic backbeats like a deranged taxidermist grafting roadkill to precision Swiss timepieces. The delicately mournful name entry theme takes the edge off a game over, only for the guttural pulse of the continue BGM to reiterate that yes, you done fucked up and took a naginata up the ass, son.

Playing a bunch of MD games through my new stereo - the basslines in some of Sega's first-party games blow my mind, especially Shadow Dancer's 3-2 BGM.

I love the stage 5 theme in Under Defeat. And Yousuke Yasui's arrange of stage 1 and stage 2 are great as well.

MD version of Midnight Resistance is killing me with beautiful tunes. NOW THAT IS A BADASS RUN N GUN TUNE. Great conversion work by Hitoshi Sakimoto. I've yet to hear an MD soundtrack with his involvement that I don't like.

Keep posting more BIL; you're on a roll! That Midnight Resistance song is so brutal. Missed an auction of that a couple of weeks ago. You've inspired me to pick back up the search!

Data East had a knack for unashamedly heroic action game music, didn't they?

I've been getting back into Mega Drive OSVs - there's a gulf between the tinny dreck that earned the system's audio a bad rep and the monstrously heavy, textured sounds skilled programmers could crank out of games like Midnight Resistance, Vampire Killer and Alien Soldier. Hitoshi Sakimoto strikes again and again.

Well, not exactly videogames.
Chomsky, Buckminster Fuller, Yunus and Glass would have played Battle Garegga, for sure.
