This metal cover of MUSHA's "Armed Armour" is pretty awesome. Despite the James Hetfield scream at the beginning.

(still) So. Fucking. Good. Anyone who even remotely enjoys Hudson's PCE Star Soldier soundtracks, or oldschool chiptunes in general, needs this album.

Stuck on the Batsugun album. Particularily the King Bird track. Great baseline, and it gets me pumped!

Replaying BLAST WIND [track "BURNING HEART"] reminds me of how great its soundtrack is. Techno-metal bombast with phenomenal gravity and heart, maybe the best work from a company with an arsenal of killer OSTs... and you can't hear it over the sound effects. It's a shame there wasn't a volume slider. The deafening and near-constant explosion sfx do enhance the already strong feelings of metal-mangling destructive power and the impending collapse of a mortally wounded planet, but they shouldn't drown out the BGM entirely. The simmering "Chaos Breaker" is the perfect soundtrack to annihilating enemy mech squadrons within the depths of a titanic earth-shattering machine, and it's all but inaudible once stage 4's popcorn rush gets underway. Lighters in the air for the staff roll. Image

Thanks. Yeah, he's great. I'm just now finding out about him. Thanks for the heads up on that Blast Wind track. Technosoft is too good.

IRT Tim Follins:

Go ahead and download the whole High Voltage SID Collection. Has a nice amount of his stuff. Listening through the variants of Last Ninja soundtracks, covers, and re-releases was pretty interesting too.

Delusion of a Thousand Years

I'm quite the sucker for waltzes and songs that use 3/4 time signatures.

Wow, excellent. Can you recommend some other tracks from Ao no Kiseki (or Eiyuu Densetsu series generally)?

Ah man, that sound is so delightful. That rave piano always gets me to smile, haha.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

That's amazing, I can catch a bit of Prodigy - One Love in there, would have been great to find this game when "all that" was still going on. Also reminds of Sanvein, another game with a rave influenced soundtrack, OST got taken off youtube though.

I knew I was putting off an album I'd seen listed hereabouts. The first three tracks are the BGM of the original SFC Dracula Konami should've made instead of churning out that shitty XX hack! Good darkly atmospheric stuff of the metal variety on the whole.

From Ao no Kiseki I like Dark Throne which is basically a sonata version of the same melody used in Delusion of a Thousand Years. Pretty much every battle theme is awesome because it's what Falcom does best but I really like Concentrate All Firepower!! the most. There's also Unfathomed Force and The Azure Arbitrator, the latter currently ranking pretty high in "best final boss music ever". From this OST I also like TOWER OF SHADOW OF DEATH -Jukebox- which is a pretty neat jazz arrange of the Ys song.

I'd love to recommend songs from the rest of the series but there are so many good ones that I just would end up mentioning the whole OST. But I'd love to mention Masquerade of Lies from Sora no Kiseki 3rd since it's the song that got me started in this series, it's so awesome that it got a rearrange in another game.

One can never be too rich or too thin, or listen to too much RR music.

This video is why Rage Racer won't age. Ravenous speed overlaid with gigatons of dark yet impeccably arcadey style. Extreme Oval + Volcano Vehicle is like an aircraft carrier crashing into a warehouse full of dynamite. Listen to that wind roar whenever the wall is about to tear that guy's lap time a new one.

It's also why I fucking hate living in an apartment with thin walls for now, I can't blast these games at floor-rattling volume with a clear conscience unless the old dear next door is away for the weekend.
Can't do much of anything loud and rude, come to think of it. Like roaring FUCK! after getting snipertanked for zoning out in the middle of a good Toaplan run. It's just what I do. >_>

Also, obligatory.
