Ass sphincter says what? That sounds like the most canned statement ever.Said the firm: “SEGA is committed to supporting any fans that take an interest in our games, and where possible we do so by involving them in Beta tests and other development, marketing or research opportunities. However we need to protect our intellectual property rights and this may result in us requesting that our fans remove online imagery, videos or games in some instances.”

When someone other than the creator of something uses the words "intellectual property" it's just doublespeak for taking something that isn't yours. Some random businessman that happened to get a job at Sega has no more claim to Streets of Rage than some random programmers making a fan game.

I haven't actively browsed/used this forum in many years and it's no longer an accurate representation of me.
I have retired from genre-specific content creation after 13 years, but I'll always love this little genre in my own personal way.

Re: Streets of Rage Remake - final version is out
Can somebody help me out?
Just installed this via Wine on OSX, got the latest ver + fan update, so that's ver. 5.1
I recall from back in 2011 being able to select different versions of the characters from each game. For example you can play BK1, 2 or 3 Axel - but for some reason I can't seem to change anything from the character select screen, they're all locked to BK3 versions.
I found a comment on google that said you need to press the Police special button to cycle them, but that does nothing. Weirdly enough this is terribly documented online, can't find info anywhere.
Is it an unlockable?
Thanks for the help.

Yes you need to purchase this feature from the "Extras" menu in the Shop. It's the one that says "Unlock all SOR1 and SOR2 chars". After you've done that you can cycle between the different versions of each character with the police button.
Re: Streets of Rage Remake - final version is out
Ah I see, thanks so much. I wanted to 1cc it (and came really close on my first go - last stage of the SOR2 route), which is why I haven't unlocked the Shop with a clear yet. Perhaps I'll do a quick and dirty clear to get that option. SOR3 Axel was no problem for 1ccing BK3, but here he feels a little underpowered. He doesn't have very good damage output, just incredibly limber.pestro87 wrote:Yes you need to purchase this feature from the "Extras" menu in the Shop. Could you also tell me where the savestate option is? When I play on breaks at work I need to halt the action for a while.

Everything unlocked if you're lazy like me.
Also there are some great fan mods if anyone is interested. Way of the Warrior is probably the best one.

You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.

The enemy AI tends to be more aggressive than in the original games, and harder to throw reliably, so that probably accounts for what you're feeling. Skate is even worse off (SoR3 Skate I'd argue is the worst in the game).Skykid wrote:SOR3 Axel was no problem for 1ccing BK3, but here he feels a little underpowered. One of the buttons (F12 I think?) immediately closes the game. If you press this, or if the game crashes, the next time you open the game it will immediately reload with a SAVESTATE LOADED message at the start of the last stage you were playing. This will NOT work if you quit to the menu by pressing Escape.Could you also tell me where the savestate option is? When I play on breaks at work I need to halt the action for a while.
Note that if you use a savestate during a Mania run, you will not get the secret ending.

All awesome stuff guys, thanks for the info. This remake is absolutely incredible, I never properly found time to sit down with it before but I'm absolutely loving it at the moment, they did an amazing job.
And the remixed soundtrack is unbelievable.

That's the ver I have so subsequently the only one I listened to. I assume they didn't remix the tracks differently for every version?

Wow. I was just on the mod page and there are a few new ones since I last looked.
I can't speak for the quality, but they are all Capcom brawlers, including AvP.
I'll have to give them a try.

V5 had re-remixs of alot of v4, they have a fair amount that was different aye. Both are on youtube.Skykid wrote:Better than V5?Cee wrote:V4s was even better again imo.Skykid wrote:

Re: Streets of Rage Remake - final version is out
Of his three versions I prefer SOR Axel the most. His damage output is the highest, his three punch special hits fast, does a nice amount of damage and almost always scores a knockdown.Skykid wrote:SOR3 Axel was no problem for 1ccing BK3, but here he feels a little underpowered. SOR 2 and 3 version special is the flurry of punches that takes forever to come out and can't be cancelled out of leaving you in a shitty spot if all the hits don't connect.
Axel also has a better blitz at two stars since it always knocks down (Shiva too). I'm not sure else who has a better two star blitz.
Max is a fucking monster though. His level one blitz lacks range, but two and three are ridiculous. Especially three which allows you to traverse from one side of the screen to the other almost instantly.

Yes!!! I played it for about a year straight when v5 came out, such a fantastic game. Yeah, the OST is legendary! I still listen to it from time to time. Gecko Yamori, Groovemaster303, BGM1401 and all of the other guys did such an outstanding job on it.Skykid wrote:All awesome stuff guys, thanks for the info. Speaking of which, I noticed that Gecko Yamori took down all of his tracks from his Youtube channel... He had a lot of really cool stuff that he had done, other than SoRR. Fortunately some of it has been re-uploaded by other people like this fantastic track for example that he did for Sonic Megamix v5 (which will probably never see the light of day judging from the last time I checked the project status....):

Gecko Yamori still has a Soundcloud page up under Lazygecko:
https://soundcloud.com/lazygecko
Not sure how much of his original work is there.

Re: Streets of Rage Remake - final version is out
Just played this (thanks for the links in the Metroid thread, Stevens) and I loved it...
Started the game and chose Adam, selected a route that culminated on the Disco stage from SOR3 with Mona and Lisa.. Then after a motocycle stage, passed through the amusement park and stadium stages from SOR2, and from there decided to take the boat from SOR1... Sensational trip down memory lane...
And Adam played great, with his Balrog's inspired final punch when you have 3 stars (only figured out the command to do the final version manually on the last stage though)

Happy to help sir.
Adam is a monster and is possibly my favorite character.
Max, SOR Axel, Shiva, and SOR 2 Skate get a fair amount of time too.
One more thing you may find of interest:
It's a map of the entire game.

Does anyone have the Way of the Warrior mod they can send me? I keep getting virus warnings from the link on SOR online.

Good to see you old friend.
Yes the announcement of four is part of the reason I'm playing this again.
Yes even if four is totally on point with music and game play it won't be as good if only due to the Herculean amount of content that is in Remake.
None of this means I want four to fail, on the contrary I want it to be the game we all want it to be.
Anyways I found an old discussion starring our own BKR and was wondering if anyone would be interested in discussing a tier list for the characters? I mean a few posters over here already contributed -
http://www.sorrcommunity.com/t211p25-ge ... discussion
S Max, Shiva2/3, Skate2, Rudra
A Blaze3, Mr X, Blaze 1, Adam
B Blaze 2, Axel 2, Axel 1, Axel 3, Zan
C Ash, Roo, Skate 3
S rank: Max, Shiva 3
A rank: Rudra, Eddie 2, Shiva 2, Blaze 3
B rank: Axel 1, Elle, X, Zan, Adam
C rank: Axel 2, Blaze 1, Blaze 2
D rank: Axel 3, Ash, Roo, Eddie 3
There are more lists through that link, but I generally agree with these two. Anyone?
