NG Dev Team announce GunLord for Neo-Geo and Dreamcast

Post by KBZ »

http://www.gun-lord.com/

Teaser Site just went up a few hours ago. They've been talking about making a Jump 'N Shoot for a while now on these forums, but great to see it getting an official announcement. I can already hear the joy of those who have moaned in the past "not another shooter!?"

Character reminds me of Turrican, but Lord makes me think of Magician Lord. COINCIDENCE!??

YES, I'm stoked! Not nearly enough "jump&shoot" games now a days. Can't wait to see some boss graphics and hopefully some crazy weapons too.

Rafael Dyll, yay

I like my shooting games super linear, so not really digging the exploration angle. But still, a new jump and shoot, awesome

The music is too mellow and trippy... it doesn't go rock n' roll... too much Metroid, not enough Turrican.

Definitely prefer linear. I like Metal Slug 3 diversions, I like Super Frog collectathons. But I don't like Metroid exploration. Its just too much backward/forward stuff.

Can a proper VGA mode be included on the DC version?
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

What he probably means is: will this game be true 640x480?

Since it's also coming for the Neo Geo... I don't think so, unless they do different graphics for each version.

Aren't these guys' games bad for your DC with them being CD Roms?

Nah, not unless it's streaming everything off the disc like Garou for DC.

"Jump. Shoot. Explore." This slogan REALLY has me thinking of something like Turrican, as does the game image in the background. Rather promising.
I'll be watching this one closely.

Gun-Lord is looking really cool! Nice job NG guys.

Keep up the sweet work--I loved the Turrican series. Has a nice Psygnosis vibe too from the statues, stormy weather, twisted tree.

Time to invest in a used Dreamcast.

This shit looks sweet. I love NGDEV's stuff. And the soundtrack! This guys stuff is so distinctive. I love it. I gotta get the soundtrack. This reminded me that I still need to get the Last Hope OST.

both screenshots and the music kinda remind me of Shadow of the Beast as well. In a positive way that is, SOTB being little more than a graphical/soundlike show piece at the the time of creation.

If this plays like Turrican and has graphs/music like SOTB, I'm totally gonna dig this. :D

Looks awesome and while I'm quite fond of the DC releases I wish they would also end up on XBLA.

I love the graphic style of this and FS and with this game I might be finally be persuaded into buying a used DC. With the consoles been so old, In what state are most consoles / pads that are been sold cheap on ebay?

Yeah I do aswell. But I dont mind exploration if its in small doses IE Wonderboy 3 in Monsterworld

I like the way they advertise the game as a new eurostyle platformer, while im not so versed in the sub genre (I really need to play Turrican) I think they are much better games then euroshmups

Looks awesome and while I'm quite fond of the DC releases I wish they would also end up on XBLA.
I agree, but then it would then just be one game of countless other 2D platformers that seem to be been made this past year. It might actually be more profitable for the dev to stay in his own little niche now that the industry juggernaughts like Ubi and EA are starting backrolling the indie / 2D genre and can curl out games at a much faster rate then AAA games.

Who needs XBLA when you've got hardcore Neo Geo collectors willing to fork out obscene amounts for your mediocre games.

The DC/NGCD versions aren't too badly priced considering they're printing up CDs, boxes and manuals. Additionally, I'd say something like Fast Striker is much MUCH less half assed than a game like Platypus or whatever. Hell, it's a lot less half assed than what were official and expensive Neo Geo releases like Ghost Pilots or Strikers 1945 Plus.

GunLord looks cool! I hope it plays well. Euro style melded looser controls and more flexible environment/challenge would be great.

I'm just glad their announcing the Dreamcast version right away instead of going arcade-exclusive for several months ala Fast Striker.

They're probably not doing an arcade release at all. It looks like a Turrican style game and those aren't really arcade run-n-guns.

Most are actually good. I've owned several DC's all used and they all were fully functional. Never had a DC pad break on me once.
