Upcoming Taito Collection - your wish list?

Post by Turrican »

Empire wins publishing rights to Taito’s Arcade Classics

Empire, the leading AIM listed computer game developer and publisher, today announced that it has signed the US and European rights to publish Taito Arcade Classics, a compilation of Taito’s 30 greatest titles from the past 25 years.

Included in the massive retro gaming collection are such classic games as Space Invaders, Operation Wolf, Rainbow Islands and Bubble Bobble. The game will be published on PS2, Xbox and PC and is scheduled for launch in 2005.

Space Invaders
Operation Wolf
Bubble Bobble
Rainbow Islands

that leaves around 26 titles to discover! What would you like to see inside this one? I personally would love to have Rastan, and New Zealand Story.

Anyway, this one already looks a very promising collection.

I have been dying for an arcade perfect port of Gladiator for years. That would be sweet. Wasn't Mat Mania also a Taito game? That would be awesome, too.

If they don't release Don Doko Don they are idiots and whats the betting they don't.

Fairyland Story, Chack 'n' Pop, New Zealand Story and Liquid Kids would be nice.

I think NZS is the only one with a chance.

Yay for Bubble Bobble! I have fond memories of playing that as a kid.

I'd really like to see the entire RayForce/Storm/Crisis -trilogy in there. At least the first game, since it never got a PSX release. Some Darius games would be cool, too.

I hope they release other versions of Space Invaders. Heck, gimme all of them done by Taito. I remember playing one of them at a drive-in years ago and wanna experience that badboy again.

BTW, I'm extatic that the US is actually getting this. They could put anything on this and I'd buy it.

Space Invaders
Elevator Action
Arkanoid 2
Rayforce
Raystorm (perfect port)
RayCrisis (perfect port)
Elevator Action Returns
Darius Gaiden
Puzzle Bobble 2

That's about it for recognizable Taito names for me. I don't want any more than this either. I doubt they'll all make it, but dang, I need Elevator Action Returns, Puzzle Bobble 2, and Arkanoid 2 at least.

Heh, well I'll be! With all the mention of New Zealand Story, I checked it out at KLOV...turns out it's Kiwi Kraze, the game I own on NES! Really odd platformer, but it rocks..that first boss, the whale, had some great music.

I bet the res will be wrong too.

Anyways I'm looking forward to see what it'll be like.

I'd personally like to see an Arkanoid collection, especially considering that next year will be the 20th anniversary of the first game in the series.

Beyond that, I'd really like to see Rastan.

Of course, Tatio have made so many classic games over the years that they could probably release a volume for every letter in the alphabet!

I'm pretty sure you're thinking of Technos, since Renegade is part of the Nekketsu series.

Definitely Rastan (maybe I'll figure out how to get past the swinging rope/lava pit part finally) and Slap Fight (although this one would be questionable since I seem to recall this was originally a Toaplan game?) plus Zoo Keeper, Qix/Super Qix, Top Speed and one or more Arkanoid games.

Gunlock and its sequels, definitely. (too tired right now to try to figure out the plethora of different names to the same game/series)

Recalhorn.

Never heard of it?It's an F3 prototype game recently emulated, by the Pulirula/The New Zealand story designers.super-cute and funny, i'd add.For the rest, a few F3 games that didn't it to PSX or Saturn (Bubble Memories, Akkanvader, something else i'm forgetting).
Chomsky, Buckminster Fuller, Yunus and Glass would have played Battle Garegga, for sure.

Perfect ports of Arkanoid and its sequel would be no brainers for this comp. I personally wouldn't mind seeing an arcade perfect rendition of the Legend of Kage either. I actually managed to beat my NES rev a little while back! Man I loved that game as a kid...

Now wasn't Target: Renegade developed by Taito? It was like a pseudo-sequel to Renegade, it didn't have anything to do with Kunio and the gang.

Space Gun
Operation Wolf/Thunderbolt/Tiger
RayForce/RayStorm/RayCrisis
Darius 1/2/Gaiden & G.Darius

Super Chase: Criminal Termination
Super Puzzle Bobble (The G-Net version, which the existing PS2 game is NOT a port of)
Chaos Heat
Fighters' Impact Ace
Psychic Force 2012
Kinect? KIN NOT.

It was also the worst side scrolling beet'em up I've ever played. This coming from a person who loved the original Renegade (which most people hate).
