Like the first tune, beats. Nice, full sound, yet chill.
I wouldn't have been surprised to hear this out of an actual pinball machine, actually. Love the evil bells at the beginning, nice main melody too!

Oh look, new music. Interestingly I only used 8 audio samples for this whole song.

Excited to say that there's an official release date for the first Outward Roots album. Owen Ni and I work really well and really quickly together. Sublime Ambient Techno and Deep Techno it is. Currently there's a preview mix up on my label's soundcloud. A joint release that see Owen's label Run On Recordings doing the Cd release. I hope you guys like the sound. https://soundcloud.com/cold-fiction-mus ... es-preview

Thank you very much! I hope I'll post the main melody soon, since it's probably the best FM chiptune I've made in quite some time. Money was on the line, so I put my heart into it, lol. The game itself looks to be good in conjunction with the music. It was fun to do a kind of baroque horror-rock mix.

This is sounding really good. Excellently mixed and the album is looking to have a nice balance of faster and slower tracks. Glad to hear you guys are so close to release.
Likin' it! Funnily enough I have been getting into sound modules recently (long days at work means listening to a lot of music). I like the older Roland modules, and the classic DX7. I even made my own turbo-weeb music:

Fantastic Soldier (Roland MT-32)

I used soundfonts though, since I couldn't find (and couldn't believe there weren't) any MT-32 or likewise VSTs on the market.

If you're looking for a competent MT-32 emulator, someone from a different IRC channel referred to me MUNT as a good virtualize version. I use loopMIDI to pipe all the midi commands to this programs and works like a charm. Now I have to get use to the 32 polyphonic voice limitation and sysex commands that will allow me to really take this emulator to a different level.

The duo Outward Roots I'm a part of released our first full album today. Pretty interesting minimal take on Ambient and Deep Techno. Cd version is out over at Run On Recordings bandcamp page with an extra cd of Substak remixes. https://cfmlabel.bandcamp.com/album/moonlit-trees

More great work as usual, HeavyViper. My favorite track from the sampler being the upbeat level B stage. I like how the accompanying boss track is a semi-remix of the track, which makes it feel different than a typical boss track. Voted, and everything looks especially fun with the new gameplay video. Congrats again!

My soundtrack is now mostly finished, so I feel I can post the main track for the pinball game I am doing the soundtrack for. It's my longest YM2612 track ever, at a rich 4 minutes. I wanted something that would keep on growing and changing so it wouldn't get old hearing it for long periods of time:

Put out a new release today on a new bandcamp for myself. Some longform Drone Ambient is on display here. You can find the original version of the first track on soundcloud, but both original tracks haven't been officially released, so hear some drone versions of unreleased tracks! https://moodydrones.bandcamp.com/album/ ... s-volume-1

It's a cover so it's not necessarily "my music", but here's my band playing Mr. Scary by Dokken last night. I'm the guitar player

Surprised I made this in a hour, considering this is my first 8-bit track.

Not too shabby. Sampling is something I always wanted to learn how to do (but I work too slow on music tracks as it is).

Do you have the free trial version of Reaper? I only ever used it to make one or two tracks back in the day. It's nice that (at least then) it was pretty easy to string along the "free trial" version of it (which came with all the features) indefinitely. Makes me wonder how far it's come since then.

I made a Tatsujin-inspired YM2612 track:
TOA TOMORROW

A few more of these tracks and I'll have my entire "Toaplan tribute" album complete.

its not much sampling as in just rearranging prebuilt loops. still first time doing that, and getting used to the workflow for it. but i think i prefer arranging percussion to chopping loops.

Yeah using the trial version for now, which means its all features for 60 days. The last two updates really are great. I tried reaper a few years back (halfway between version 4 i think) and it kinda wasnt as good then, went back to using LMMS. But 5.0 is really awesome. I would say its on par or close to ableton. atleast i can do all the things i have seen in ableton videos in reaper pretty easily. i will be buying a license soon.

this is a nice simple tune. sounds exactly like oldschool toaplan.

Ever thought of looking into BitWise? Similar to Ableton and at a cheaper price.

Ahead of my release tomorrow on Run On Recordings, I've put up the track Winter Rain. A nice little downtempo track. The 4 track release is an archives release. Stuff I've made and just forgotten about until looking through old stuff. The newest track on the release is this one though, made last year. https://soundcloud.com/deepwarmth/winter-rain

Edit: The release is now out! https://runonrecordings.bandcamp.com/album/childhoods

I've been playing with vintage 80's synth emulators in Reason and trying to make what some people call "synthwave" but what I just call wonderfully cheesy 80's stuff:

I like it. I wanna make some Harold Faltermeyer, Jan Hammer or Laserdance type of music now, but I don't really have time to do it.
