Between playing Resident Evil 7, lack of inspiration, and fatigue from IRL work, I haven't been harvesting my creative juices much this past month. However, I did finally commit to finishing another ENIGMA OF THE SHARK track, trading off sleep for inspiration (waking up at 5:30AM is no fun, folks, on 5hrs of sleep).

SAME NO NAZO ~ Beachside Resort: Fun, then Terror

I tried to "up the ante" in terms of using filter effects to make some different sounds for the backing pads and a few of the leads. Also with trying to really get a better feel for mixing/mastering to make things sound more professional. Maybe it all came together; you tell me!

It surprises me how much I have relied on the piano in these four tracks of the series so far; though I am a pianist, so it makes sense.

I -might- have another actual soundtrack project coming up, but it's early to say. I'd love to do another one, in any event.

I've submitted some demo tracks for a potential shootemup project. Give them a listen and tell me how I mucked it up~

Stage Theme:
https://clyp.it/bjpubrmh
I'm listening to way too much of the RayXanber soundtracks recently, so this track came off as partially inspired by them though without their funky salsa beats.

Boss Theme:
https://clyp.it/x1jzxcgo
Very Technosoft-inspired to give a hard-edge contrast between stage and boss.

I'll upload them to my soundcloud at a later date, if the project goes forward.

Also recently bought the KORG M1 VST on an impulse after nearly having an orgasm after hearing what all the instrument presets sound like. Already putting it to good use.

You're certainly getting some good mileage out of it. ;3 They both sound pretty spot-on for the genre, hopefully you land the gig!

I'm genuinely sorry. [warning: loud, awful]
Was throwing ideas around for the metal compo over at Battle of the Bits, and made this in the process [in the end, I actually ran out of time with making a proper song].

...and I knew I couldn't submit this thing because it was hilariously awful and way off point, even if it's still endearing enough for me to want to show to the world.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

those drums are at meme volume levels. Stick this in a trap video and you'll have the perfect accompaniment.

Speaking of hilariously awful, I put together a track in honor of one of my favorite movie super heroes, U.S. CATMAN IN LETHAL TRACK.

U.S. CATMAN IN LETHAL TRACK - THE SIXTEEN BIT RENDITION

Do yourself a favor and watch U.S. CATMAN IN LETHAL TRACK. At least these clips. You won't regret witnessing true film.

I'd like to bring to the farm's attention that I've recently provided sound design to a shmup demo just released, Shmoop 2. In fact, you can see the topic for it here:

http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=59897

Check it out!

Due to the rush of the deadline as well as some unforeseen quirks in GameMaker's audio compression, several sound effects weren't able to be mixed in properly and had to be substituted with placeholders. These sounds likely will be included in the future. I certainly hope so, as some of my best explosion sounds were not included!

Kaboom 1
Kaboom 2

Timing out SFX cues is a lot harder than it might seem. A tenth of a second can make all the difference.

The way I made all of the sounds (included and otherwise) is that i have several different percussive and synth libraries, and mix and match them to find suitable sound combos for in-game situations. For example, I mixed together a lot of industrial smashing noises with some effects-heavy synths for some explosions, while also adding in some tweaked sound samples of rocks crashing through/breaking ice.

Sorry for the double post; but I recently hit the milestone of 25,000 plays on my channel (smallfry I know), so I released a track in order to celebrate. I was commissioned about a month ago by a user on soundcloud to write an FM piece in the style of the Shining Force 1 soundtrack, so I got to flex my orchestral/counterpoint/arrangment muscles!

Shining Force Suite in Four Movements ~ The Return of the Shining Force

Let me know what you think!

Thanks a bunch. I've always wanted to do something more bombastic and orchestral using FM instruments, so this commission fell on to my lap at just the right time (the Shining GEN/MD soundtracks are some of the best on the system and are great for inspiration). The guy who asked me was so impressed that he paid me extra after I had finished, which was really quite touching.

me trying to be budget daft punk. first try at remixing, there are no stems for this so used audacity to extract vocals which was noisy as fuck. some chopping, pitch shifting and 909/808 hits on top, i am happy with the result.

Man, this all sounds so good. I especially love the Eurobeat-sounding Redline Lover track. And the bubble-gum pop of da-ki-shi-me-te is pretty infectious.

The whole soundtrack sounds very pure and authentic. Congratulations on another release!

Here's a track I worked on for the Shmoop 2 game (dev thread in my sig).

Shmoop 2 ~ Teardrops Over the City

Turned out a lot better than I thought. Sexy sax and all. The game is still in its very early stages; I have a lot to do in terms of making sound effects (to say nothing of making tracks).

I've got 2 new tracks on this fantastic charity compilation. Also, if you find any artists you like, all the files have a link to their discogs pages. I've got a drone ambient track under my own name and then the official debut of an ambient project with Sage Taylor (who appears as Parallelism on here) as Katsura. This has a lot of different styles, not just ambient. Pick it up. nearly 5 hours worth of music on this!

Huh. I never saw this thread before. Some interesting/cool music in here.

I've been busy with a musical project on my own over the last couple of years. Well, projects really. I've written two album thus far; "The Journey Vol. 1" and the newly released, "The Journey Vol. 2." They're filled with orchestral/classical/chamber music songs that were inspired by a series of novels I'm working on. You can listen to the four singles off of Vol. 1 and the first single off of Vol. 2 here... https://soundcloud.com/dragonwolfdesign/sets

For anyone interested, the albums are for sale on CDBaby and Bandcamp at $5 each.

I've also been updating some of my older game remixes, as well as making some new ones. You can listen to them (and one of my original songs) here... https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAVmAV ... KN5yYKKoNA

I've been in a creative rut for several years now, and I'm determined for that to change. It hasn't been a lack of ideas, but more a lack of confidence in my abilities to mold those ideas into a finished version I'm willing to share. At any rate, I forced myself to finish something, and here it is. It's based around the feeling that I think many people have had for a number of years now of a type of powerlessness, that we may not be in control of our own futures. Like me, the tune isn't completely sure if it wants to be serious.

I was inspired by the RAY- trilogy music while writing this STG boss-focused track. Fairly proud of my use of incidental sounds as percussion (but that's just me tooting my own horn).

I've been a fan since my days browsing OCremix many years ago. The samples on soundcloud sound really nice.
I really like the jumping and bouncing beat the song takes on after the slower introduction. It's pretty unique!

I listened to the track you posted and liked it. Reminded me a bit of some of the music from Panzer Dragoon II at times.
