Hey, I've got a bug and a feature request to report

Bug:
1. Go to Search
2. Input the keywords
3. Switch to 'Post subjects and message text' or 'Message text only' in lower right area
4. All other options may be left intact
5. Click 'Search'
6. Click the browser's 'Back' button
7. Search criteria is lost
8. Do steps 1-6, this time selecting 'Topic titles only' or 'First post of topics only'
9. Search criteria is kept

Would be nice if it was kept all the time

Feature request:
Once I click 'View new posts', there are no page switching links at the top, only at the bottom. Duplicating them at the top (like in the thread views) can improve handiness ;)

Anyone else not getting e-mail notifications? I checked my settings and PM's are still checked off to send an e-mail. Same with new posts in threads. I'm getting none of these.

Blame Hotmail - I can see them leaving the server to your address, perhaps they're getting spamcanned?

Figures. They're not even showing up in my junk folder. Of course, I still get junk Windows Live invites directly to my Inbox. Pee on them.

Never noticed this before but...

Image

This is from Opera, running under Linux. I refreshed the page a few times, even checked the image directly with Opera and it renders like that. Checked with Firefox under Linux, no weirdness there. Just thought I'd share...

Edit: Closed Opera and reopened it, and the image displayed correctly. Weird.

Not a bug necessarily, but this is the only website that absolutely CRUSHES my laptop and I have no idea why.

If i try to simply scroll up or down it's choppy and sluggish as heck.

The laptop isn't a powerhouse, but it's a C2D 2.53GHz Macbook Pro with either the Nvidia 9400 or 9600 GPU (both suck on this site) and 4GB DDR3.

I honestly don't get it. I'm using Firefox at the moment and it's buttery smooth on everything else. Using Chrome it's not nearly as shitty.

Yeah I've seen that happen and I can't work out why - certain specific browsers or operating systems (not sure which) do seem to chug on the default theme. Have you tried the lite one? I added it a short while ago when we switched to the new software.

I will finally relent and add a 'normal' theme too soon, something very anonymous looking, for those who have a day job that frowns on unusual colours. Suggestions welcome, what would people like to have available?

That's why I use the PrefBar FireFox plugin... makes it easy to disable images and colors on the fly. 8)

The new feedback system is nice, but it seems to throw off the left alignment where names and info is listed. Everything loads properly at first, then it flips out. I'm using an outdated version of IE at work, but it does the same thing in Chrome. It's weird and scary and I DON'T LIKE CHANGE

Haha, I've been trying to replicate the error since I got home (Chrome). All is well. I blame IE, like I do for most things.

For what it's worth "lite" did fix this.

But it seriously makes no sense that my atom based netbook and my iPad do better with the default theme than my core2 duo laptop.

Internet Explorer 7 ( :( ) on Vista. It's probably fixed in 8. Don't even worry about this bug. I'm just bored at work.

don't know if the answer is there already but:

I have to click login almost every new day.
I have the login automatically box checked and it still log me out every day.

I'm using firefox 3.6.6.
I've deactivated Adblock for this site too,no success.

Any idea?

Does the same thing happen at any other forum you go to?

Check in your Options/Privacy panel that your browser keeps cookies until they expire and that it doesn't automatically clear cookies when you close the program.

no I stay logged in all the other forums I browse.
It seems shmups forum disconnects me after a while too without shutting down my computer.
Not a big deal as I click on login and it does it fast though.

Just in case, delete all your cookies relating to shmups.system11.org and, if you still have those, to forum.system11.org. Maybe the cookies are just borked.

It is completely random, and it is the only site that log me off.

Another question:is there an option to open a new tab when clicking on a link?
(I've looked in user CP and didn't find anything)

ps: I use vista

thx

Well, that's a browser function, not a forum function. To open any link in a new tab, either click it with the mouse's middle button or hold down the Ctrl button while left-clicking it. Or to open it in a new window, hold down Shift instead.

As requested, positive is now default for feedback type. We were getting at least 1 request a week to fix accidental neutrals.

Although I can browse the memberlist by location, it's kind of useless since I can't see the locations anymore...

There's been a couple time now where I've typed out something kind of long then gone to post it, I'm logged off due to page time out. Is this one of my settings? It is frustrating when I just typed out some semi smart shit that I had been thinking about all day then lose it..

Apologies if already noted, but I noticed that links are de-tagged (and tagging broken a bit actually) when you use specific orders of tags.

For instance:
Linking a URL inside size tags makes it plain text (not preferred behavior).

http://www.ardi.com/reveng.php
is fine because the size tags are outside the URL tags.

But [url]http://www.ardi.com/reveng.php[/url]
is not a working link and the URL tags appear outside the text. Naturally, here the URL tag is outside the size tags.

I'm sure this is something wacky and inherent with the board software, wouldn't be surprised if it's not easily fixed, but I thought I'd mention it in case anybody's interested. Adding tags to links often causes dumbness anyway.

The email field in Memberlist is useless, why not replace it with an ascending/descending Location feature?
