What's your avatar?
Mine is one everyone on this forum should know - it's the super-cool R9 spacecraft from the R-Type series! Yay!
I thought about taking the sprite of the ship in Armed Police Unit Gallop for my avatar but decided on my faithful ole' R9 anyway. Another choice would have been a Roger Dean painting... maybe 'sentinels'.

Re: What's your avatar?
I use two different ones... the current one (depending on when you read this!) is Baster - the 'sane' pilot from Radiant Silvergun.
The other is the Sega Saturn logo (blue planet with S-ring) with the word RESPECT below it.
I switch back and forth every half year.

Mine is currently a "TATE" badge I bought from the Tate Britain souvenirs shop in London one day after the London shmupmeet. I was visiting the gallery and couldn't help smiling when I saw all these merchandise products which seemed to be specially made for people who flip their TV sets.
I couldn't resist buying one of the badges. Of course I wear it vertically.
That'll put the hardcore crowd into place
In the past I used Alex from Alex Kidd in Miracle World as my avatar. Best platformer ever, IMO, and it's a shame no one mentioned it in the top 10 platformers thread yet.

My avy right now is Rune the Esper/Wizzard from Phantasy Star IV.
I tend to change avys every 1 to 2 months though, so you can count on seeing something different.

Warren from the classic Kaneko fighter, Power Moves.
The expression on his character portrait is the oddest, most awkward one I've ever seen. It's hard to describe, really, except that it feels so very out of place. To me, I always viewed it as an old, out-of-shape man who knows he's going to get his ass kicked. And the mustache! roffles
Everytime I see it when I'm playing, I laugh.
