The Transformers movie blow skanky chunks....
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

The Ghostbusters trailer reminds me a bit of Tammy. The trailers showcased incredibly stupid jokes (robbing people is funny, see?) and made me wonder what the heck the people who made the trailer were thinking. Actually, I heard the movie is just as stupid as the trailers, so I have to wonder what the heck the writers were thinking.

There's like 7 billion people opposed to this film, and the producers are still releasing it ? :?

At least a few people will come for the name recognition. At this point it's more costly to shitcan it.

Let me state for the record that the reason this movie will suck is not the female cast. It stinks because it's trying to take an original idea and turn it into a formula. It would have been just as bad if it was a bunch of dudes. 95% of the jokes would probably be the same as well.
BryanM wrote:The comedy video on the sidebar "Why this movie will be bad" had a good point about writing this as women pretending to be men.
This may be an inside joke that I'm totally missing here.

Here's the problem with these anti-feminist dudes. They always start out with a good point, (Yeah, only little boys pretending to be men stand like that), but end up being too greedy and going over the deep end, (my idea of making the whole movie about four women realizing they're not cut out for men's work then selling the business and becoming stepford wives only sounds retarded because the feminists have brainwashed you!)

If this guy is being sarcastic and I'm falling into the jaws of the bit, I cite Poe's Law in my defense.

Mouser Minion, think your empathy detection circuits are a bit off.

Genuine misogyny and satire of misogyny are different things! The acting totally gives it away.

Ah, you've reminded me of this.

With all the years and years and decades of endless joy and entertainment the Star Wars prequels have brought us, I never want them to stop making Ghostbusters movies. Ya'all convinced me.

I'd say it just barely works. Still far too much fucking around with teen comedy hijinks, toilet humour, muh feels etc. As with the third and fourth, when it's about giant robots warring the fuck out it's good fun. The second's absolutely unbearable.

It's often said Michael Bay makes "mindless entertainment." This is obscenely underserved praise!

The robot fights are not good fun because they move and transform in complete defiance of the laws of physics like it's the matrix, evaporating the appeal of giant robots.

The plot of Pacific Rim is pretty fucking stupid but at least the giant robots in THAT movie bring a visceral sense of weight and inertia.

And if you truly want "mindless entertainment" that doesn't fuck around for two and a half hours trying to be the poor man's American Pie, your movie is "Crank 2."

Oh hell naw. Transformers have long proud history of jumping around doing gay+unrealistic flips while maiming each other during times of conflict. They're not Gigantor-esque behemoths ala PR's Jaegers. Doucheface "OHHH NONONONONO" McJewfro singlehandedly destroying Starscream via hilarious pratfall etc is not robot fighting, ofc. (it is closer to venereal disease)

Also, ffs, pls don't misconstrue my post as conferring the honour of "mindless entertainment" on Bay. His TF movies are the very antithesis of the form. Ducking scything jets of highly pressurised dog shit aka "comic relief" / "down-home family drama" between fleeting snippets of robot violence is actually quite mentally draining. I was tired and irritable after the fourth movie, having been reduced to finding joy only in Pothead McGingerscrote getting fucking carbonised by a robot grenade. :[

I had mixed feelings about the first live action Transformers (weak human scenes with disappointing robot designs, but with Peter Cullen's awesome voice and some fun robot scenes) and never cared enough to watch any of the other live action movies. If by "the first one", you mean the animated movie, then I agree it's well executed.

Maybe not the best movie to quote, but I feel that Ghostbusters parody in the Casper movie does a nice job of summing up the new GB trailer. "Who you gonna call? Someone else!"

For prosperity's sake: I fell asleep in the middle of this thing and had a nice hour long nap. That puts it in the same league as American Godzilla Movie 20XX.

The most I could ever have hoped for.

Am I the only person who thinks 2 hours is too damn long for a movie?

GB - 107 minutes
GB: ATC - 134 minutes

It was an ok nap, though. Not as good as the Hollywood Godzilla 2 nap. Might have been because the colors were too vibrant or the dialogue too neverending.

3 out of 5 nap points.

Good news everybody!

New movie. 2020. Ivan Reitman's son Jason as director. A 15% chance of being entertaining.
"Many blue checks on Twitter feel like it's a slap in the face to fans of the 2016 Ghostbuster."

Let's say this Twinkie represents the amount of 2016 Ghostbusters fans. It would be a Twinkie one millimeter long weighing approximately nine milligrams
That's a small twinkie.

But boy, are they loud and vocal about it. Somehow it's Trump's influence what has caused Sony to ignore the 2016 reboot, much to one of its actresses' dismay.

Man, poor Jason Reitman. Imagine rolling straight into a turd like this just for going on board for a Ghostbusters sequel.

He's a great filmmaker, but very different in style from his dad. I'm not expecting a straight up "Ghostbusters 3", but I'm quite curious to see what he can do with the franchise. Hell a lot more than Paul Feig for sure.

2016 Ghostbusters had fans? They should have just let the series stay dead in the first place, but I get that such a thing is not possible when Hollywood is involved. There are too many examples of sham sequels to list. The first Pirates movie was fun enough for a braindead watch, but the 50th? Then there is Marvlul. These long break sequels are the absolute worst though, anyone remember Blues Brothers 2000?

Leslie is just super pissed she didn't get a big break into super duper stardom. Lashing out at the world is perfectly normal when it isn't everything you had hoped it would be.
Steamflogger Boss wrote:2016 Ghostbusters had fans?
It really does, but the overlap probably ain't that strong with those passionate about the original. SNL still has like ~10 million viewers, an absolutely gargantuan ~3% of the population.

There was absolutely nothing in the 2016 Ghostbusters film that warranted the big political firestorm it sparked. It was a very average movie that deserved (and generally got) very average reviews. I suspect the review scores were inflated very slightly (3-5%) by "woke" reviewers more interested in offending red state voters than in actually reviewing the movie, but nowhere near enough to tip the needle one way or the other, and the movie itself was pretty standard middle-of-the-road Hollywood summer blockbuster fare. The Honest Trailer pegged this one pretty well.

That said, I'm in "wait and see" mode on the next one.

Yeah I really didn't see the big deal there either. My issue is that it was a new movie in a franchise over 20 years old. It will just never capture the spirit of the original, generally. It's why I am not interested in this upcoming one at all either.

I did watch Indiana Jones Crystal Skull which just about killed any and all desire I had to watch movies in long dormant franchises. I guess I would consider this new GB if it were universally praised but I doubt it and I still really wouldn't want to.

Edit: That HT vid on it was pretty good. I didn't even know about those shitty Tarzan and Bourne movies before that... Glug...
